The True King of All Calamities descended, bringing with it the most overwhelming dominance seen in this entire Turbo Duel.
"I set one card and end my turn!"
Having successfully Xyz Summoned the True King, Oga Slint slammed down a Set card from his hand, ending his opening turn.
"I didn't expect to see the True King of All Calamities here."
Miles remembered—before he ever crossed worlds, that card had already been on the Forbidden List.
If Alester were here to witness this, he'd probably declare this was a summoning that had touched the Gate of Truth.
"But… is that really all there is to it?"
As far as Miles understood, while the True King was powerful, it wasn't an absolute ruler in the current Spirit Continent metagame.
Because in this environment, everyone still heavily relied on Spell and Trap Cards.
So the trembling felt by the Millennium Puzzle was definitely not because of this.
"My turn, huh!"
Oga Slint started with an Xyz Summon of 3000 Attack. Riding his D-Board, Ren Austin couldn't help lamenting that Turbo Duels didn't allow the use of Field Spells.
Otherwise, she could have pulled out Skyscraper and gone hunting for a 3000-ATK hero killer.
"My turn! Draw!"
Yet the instant Ren drew her card, Oga—who had just declared his turn over—raised a hand toward the sky and activated his effect.
"At the moment you draw, I activate the effect of [True King of All Calamities]!"
[Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can detach 1 material from this card and declare 1 Attribute; this turn, all face-up monsters on the field become that Attribute, also all monsters in your opponent's possession with that Attribute cannot activate their effects or attack.]
"I detach [True King Lithosagym, the Disaster] to declare the LIGHT Attribute! Through the power of order, change all things, True King!"
"Rooaarrr!"
The effect activated. The phantom dragon's roar drew a radiant curtain across the heavens, turning every monster's Attribute on the field into pure white LIGHT.
Within the blinding curtain descended rows of radiant swords, locking Ren's D-Board within a parallel cage of light.
Order and law were now completely under the True King's control. From here on, every monster Ren summoned would forcibly become LIGHT, unable to activate effects or attack.
Aisha gasped, "He shut down Rin-chan's offense right from the start! That monster's terrifying!"
As a phantom dragon closest to the divine, the [True King of All Calamities] perhaps surpassed most God Cards in sheer suppressive power.
"Starting with this kind of play, huh? You ever heard of interaction, dude? That's what makes it a duel!"
Racing forward on her D-Board, Ren glanced over her opening hand. Her heterochromatic eyes reflected the radiance of the light curtain born from the King's declaration.
"If you're gonna play dirty, don't blame me for responding in kind! Feel the ultimate secret of Fusion!"
Flicking a card from her D-Board, Ren began her HERO summoning.
"I Normal Summon, in Defense Position—[Elemental HERO Solid Soldier]!"
[Elemental HERO Solid Soldier] Level 4│EARTH│Warrior│ATK 1300 / DEF 1100
The hero, clad in silver-white solid armor, dashed across the Turbo Duel track.
"When Solid Soldier is Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon one Level 4 or lower HERO from my hand!"
"No, you can't activate effects, Ren Austin!" Oga warned. "At the moment [Elemental HERO Solid Soldier] hits the field, its Attribute changes from EARTH to LIGHT!"
The distorted law covered the hero in the veil of light, forcibly transforming its earthly essence into a shining Attribute.
"And during the turn [True King of All Calamities] activates its effect, all your LIGHT monsters cannot activate effects or declare attacks!"
"So the Attribute changes upon summoning, huh. That's troublesome."
Even though her effect activation failed, completely sealed off by the King, Ren remained calm, her grip tightening around a single card.
"Still, you can only seal me for one turn! Please, my other self—release our ultimate power!"
A radiant aura representing the might of Fusion burst forth around her. Ren's awakened soul, bridging ten years of time, merged with its counterpart into ultimate resonance.
Korys Diane gasped, "That feeling…! Ren, she drew it on her first turn?!"
"The resonance of twin souls, enough to tear through space and time itself! I release our greatest fusion power! Quick-Play Spell activate—[Super Polymerization]!"
"Super Polymerization?!"
Inside Krista's body, Miles' blue-violet eyes shot wide in disbelief at the sight of Ren racing down the track.
It was like watching another HERO Duelist wielding brand-new strength.
"Since when did Ren get her hands on Super Poly?! Dammit, why'd it have to trigger now… I wanna use it too!"
If the Millennium Puzzle hadn't interfered, the one activating [Super Polymerization] right now would've been Miles himself.
Krista deadpanned, "Miles, do you always think about other girls so blatantly? Doesn't Carlos ever get mad?"
Miles blinked. "Why would Aisha get mad?"
Aisha: "Thanks for asking. I'm mad right now."
Miles knew exactly what [Super Polymerization] represented.
In this face-off—Super Polymerization versus True King—Super Poly held the edge.
[Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this card's activation. Discard 1 card; Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from either field as Fusion Materials.]
A technique that could use the opponent's monsters as Fusion Materials… and its activation couldn't be chained against.
A supreme fusion art, beyond even Spell Speed 3 Counter Traps.
"This power!" Oga's eyes narrowed. "What are you planning, Ren Austin?"
Racing down the track on her D-Board, Ren's mismatched eyes gleamed as [Super Polymerization]'s effects flared behind her, dazzling the crowd.
"I activate [Super Polymerization]! I'll fuse your [True King of All Calamities] with my [Elemental HERO Solid Soldier]!"
"Bakana!" Over at the XYZ Academy stand, Leon shot to his feet. "She's trying to fuse away an Xyz Monster!"
It was the exact sight Vice Principal Raiden of Fusion Academy had long dreamed of witnessing.
Everything returns to Fusion—using Synchro or Xyz monsters as materials alike.
Since the True King's effect had turned the entire field LIGHT, all monsters—including itself—were now LIGHT Attribute.
As [Super Polymerization]'s spiral vortex flared from Ren's hand, it seemed intent on consuming all the light in the arena.
"LIGHT Attribute [True King of All Calamities] and LIGHT Attribute [Elemental HERO Solid Soldier]—fuse into a new HERO!"
Using only Attribute-based materials—the HERO Fusion technique Miles had once taught her.
"Finally, I get to say this line. This move—Miles taught me!"
Aisha & Krista: "o(?Д?)っ Huh?!"
"Embody all radiance within you and shine like the blazing sun itself! Fusion Summon—[Elemental HERO The Shining]!"
[Elemental HERO The Shining] Level 8│LIGHT│Warrior│2600 ATK
[Materials: 1 "Elemental HERO" monster + 1 LIGHT monster]
Requiring only LIGHT monsters as materials, and with the True King's effect changing its own Attribute, the fusion succeeded perfectly.
Bathed in sunburst radiance, the new HERO descended from the storm of [Super Polymerization], landing ahead of Ren's D-Board.
"Oga's True King… fused away?!" Lloyd gasped.
"That's the same fusion method as Albaz!" In her Saint form, Ecclesia felt a familiar resonance from the Super Poly's light. "When did Senpai Ren become this strong?!"
"Fusion! It's a Fusion Summon!"
The spectators erupted. They had just realized something monumental.
"So Fusion Academy really does know how to Fusion Summon!"
Until now, in the eyes of everyone from Axet Ren's Super Polymerization marked the first true Fusion Summon ever displayed by Fusion Academy.
Although she'd removed the True King from play with [Super Polymerization], the LIGHT-Attribute attack restriction from the King's effect still lingered.
Even with Oga's field empty, Ren couldn't attack with The Shining just yet.
"I set one card and end my turn!"
The duel switched phases. After the dazzling [Super Polymerization], it was Oga's turn again.
"How unfortunate, Oga Slint. The True King's suppression only bought you a single turn."
"One turn is all I need, Ren. I've already felt it."
Oga placed his hand atop his Spirit Eyes Deck.
The card he was about to draw—was one that could directly declare victory.
"My turn! Draw!"
Even darker than the True King of All Calamities itself—The moment Oga drew, a colossal shadow, like a black serpent, coiled behind his D-Wheel.
"That card…!"
An overwhelming, destructive aura surged from it, so potent that even the Millennium Puzzle instinctively resisted.
This was the power Miles had sensed from Oga's Deck before the duel began.
"He's won!" Leon Gate could feel it too—that undeniable pressure that forced him to admit: Oga Slint was XYZ Academy's strongest force.
"A god from beyond the stars… the deity of Orichalcos. As long as that card rests in Oga Slint's hand, XYZ Academy cannot lose!"
