Chapter 434 - DSMW [434]

Aisha: "Another world… this really is another world!"

Kaima: "Don't tell me… we crossed into another world just to play Duel Monsters?"

With their feet stepping on solid concrete for the first time, weaving through the bustling traffic of a modern city, both Dark Aisha and Kaima grew increasingly excited—their reactions only becoming more obvious.

"You two are the ones from another world," Miles muttered under his breath.

At that moment, Miles finally understood how natives of another world must feel when they watch overly enthusiastic isekai travelers.

Probably the exact same feeling as watching idiots.

Everything before their eyes was so new to them.

Even if these sights were normal and familiar to Miles, for the two from the Spirit Continent, everything was utterly foreign.

Dark Aisha was totally fascinated.

Kaima, however, due to some inexplicable pride, stubbornly insisted that modern architecture lacked beauty and was built tall only so they could cram more people inside.

Yet the drastically different style of the modern city compared to the Spirit Continent kept battering Kaima's worldview; her little mouth remained roundly open in shock.

Until—walking through this forest of concrete—they finally spotted something familiar. Kaima, finally closing her small, amazed mouth, felt a little more at ease.

Something that could feel familiar to two girls from another world…

Hanging from a storefront sign were the words: "Maid Café."

"Hah? A Maid Café? Why would anyone make household servants run a shop? I get it—the family must be dirt poor. Forced by poverty, surely."

Kaima's eyes shifted from relief to pity.

She was genuinely pitying those maids.

Even though the cute, youthful maids were smiling brightly, Kaima firmly believed those smiles were purely out of obligation.

"Tsk." Miles clicked his tongue, annoyed.

These otherworld aristocrats… truly the worst type of rich snobs.

They really thought modern society was like their noble families, where everyone had maids waiting on them daily?

People working their souls out just to survive would die of exhaustion if you suggested that.

For many people without maids, a maid café was basically a spiritual oasis.

"This should still be inside the obelisk tower," Miles said.

Unlike the two excited otherworld idiots, Miles had been observing their surroundings since they arrived.

A giant KC emblem on a gleaming tower—KaibaCorp. Something that should only exist in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.

And the street sign read: Domino City – Third Block.

A place that didn't exist in reality.

He had mocked Aisha and Kaima for acting like isekai tourists… but perhaps, for him as well, this was an 'other world.'

Thankfully, this street resembled Akihabara—full of otaku culture—so maid cafés and cosplay weren't unusual.

Which meant the otherworld-style outfits of Aisha and Kaima didn't stand out too much.

Still, the two beautiful girls (even if one was a loli) were drawing plenty of stares.

"What character is that? The cosplay is so accurate!"

"So cute… are they pro cosplayers?"

Meaningless chatter—nothing important, but audible here and there.

"Looks like we really do need to go to KaibaCorp," Miles said.

That towering gold-blue skyscraper dominating Domino City's skyline looked almost like it was beckoning to them—the final destination of this arc.

"It's so far… I can't walk anymore," Dark Aisha complained.

A lifetime spent staying cooped up inside the Millennium Puzzle's Soul Room had turned Dark Aisha into a supreme shut-in. Her physical condition was probably even worse than normal Aisha's.

There were also other reasons…

Such as the fact that the KaibaCorp building only looked close—when in reality, it was much farther than it seemed.

Which only proved just how absurdly tall that building was.

"(?_?)ヾ Miles, carry me."

There it was—a downright unreasonable request.

"No."

"Then give me a piggyback."

"The problem isn't the position! You're not a child, Aisha."

Kaima jolted. "Eh? So it's okay if you are a child?"

"What, Kaima, you're tired too?"

"N–no, I'm all fine… well… maybe a little bit. But it's okay. Yes. Totally okay."

The moment she said it, Kaima regretted it.

Why did she let her stupid pride steal away the once-in-a-lifetime privilege she would probably never get again?

...

"Crap! I'm late! I'm gonna be late for work!"

"(」><)」Ahh!"

Turning the corner—Dark Aisha, dragging her tired legs, ran headfirst into a girl with a piece of bread in her mouth.

The scene was so classic that Miles nearly thought he'd stumbled into the opening of a yuri romcom.

"Ow ow ow…!"

Even though she had fallen hard on her backside, the girl refused to drop her bread. She sat on the ground and continued chewing until she swallowed it.

Then the long-haired girl, who looked oddly familiar, paled in alarm.

"Oh no… on my way to work, I accidentally crashed into a super-beautiful girl in a weird outfit! Is this it? Am I about to unlock my protagonist route?!"

"My outfit is not weird," Aisha grumbled as she struggled to stand. "Watch where you're going."

To be fair, Aisha also hadn't been watching where she walked. That's why they collided so spectacularly.

"Heheh, sorry, sorry!" The girl scratched her head sheepishly. "Since we bumped into each other, it must be fate. Want me to introduce myself?"

Miles raised a brow. "Wait. Weren't you shouting about being late for work? You still have time to introduce yourself?"

"I mean, I'm gonna be late no matter what now, so… might as well relax."

Ah. She'd already given up.

"I work at KaibaCorp. You can call me Chi."

"A KaibaCorp employee?!" Miles's eyes widened as he looked at the familiar girl.

This wasn't a coincidence. She was practically an NPC programmed to appear and hand them their next quest.

"Aisha Carlos."

"Miles."

"Kaima Seth."

They each introduced themselves.

Then Chi immediately stared at loli-sized Kaima, her eyes filled with curiosity.

"Kaima Seth? That sounds kind of like the President's name. And now that I look at you—hey, you even look a bit like him! Don't tell me…"

In the next second, the curiosity in Chi's eyes transformed into gossip-hungry excitement.

"Don't tell me you're President Kaiba's secret daughter! So cute!"

"I… idiot! Don't get so close to me!"

The overly familiar girl was more than the little Kaima could handle.

"Wait… KaibaCorp employee?" Aisha finally realized. "Isn't that the building Miles said we need to go to?"

Chi's eyes sparkled. "Eh! You're heading to KaibaCorp too? Great! It must be fate. As compensation for my earlier rudeness, let me, a veteran employee, guide you there!"

A perfect NPC-guide template: exactly what Miles expected.

As they walked, Chi's claim of being a "veteran employee" left Miles a little shocked.

KaibaCorp, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! world setting, was a top-tier global megacorporation.

To enter a company like that, even as an ordinary staff member, would mean you're an elite among elites.

Yet the young girl in front of him looked about Aisha's age. Maybe even young enough that Miles questioned whether she had even graduated high school. And she was already a KaibaCorp veteran?

Was that really believable?

"Miles, that look on your face is super rude. You're totally doubting me!"

"Was it that obvious?"

"You might as well shout it through a megaphone!"

To prove her identity, Chi pulled a work badge from her chest pocket.

The KaibaCorp employee badge gleamed with a gold anti-counterfeit seal. It had Chi's photo printed on it, and beneath her picture—her job title:

Deck Compatibility Specialist.

"There's a job like that?" Miles asked, genuinely surprised.

"It's my innate talent!"

Forming a circle with her thumb and index finger, Chi held the ring up to her right eye and examined the three of them closely.

"Just by looking, I can roughly guess what Deck each person is most compatible with."

"I don't believe it. That's impossible," Dark Aisha said bluntly.

"Hmm… let me see…"

Chi leaned in close to Aisha's face.

In an instant, she reached a conclusion.

"So weak! Why are you a Mokey Mokey Deck user? Does anyone actually use that Deck? Did I mess up??"

"┌(.Д.)┐ I believe you now!!"

Her accuracy was terrifying. Miles wondered if Chi had secretly investigated them beforehand and was performing an act.

Albeit, the genuine shock on Chi's face upon seeing Mokey Mokey made that seem unlikely.

"Then Kaima next—let me check. You look so much like the President, maybe you're—HOLY—it's Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"

Alright, if this was acting, then her performance deserved an award.

Chi sighed regretfully. "Even though you're perfectly compatible with Blue-Eyes White Dragon, all three Blue-Eyes cards in the world belong to President Kaiba. So you probably won't be able to use them."

Kaima remained aloof, ignoring the overly friendly Chi.

Miles, however, was extremely curious. What would Chi's reaction be if Kaima suddenly pulled out three Blue-Eyes cards?

The "only three in the world" rule unquestionably didn't apply to Kaima Seth from another world.

"Your Decks are all really weird," Chi said, still peering through her finger circle. Then her gaze shifted to Miles. "I hope the last Duelist is at least a little more normal."

Chi's self-proclaimed talent was to see which Deck a person was most suited for.

So, what Deck was Miles most compatible with?

Even more than Miles himself, Aisha and Kaima leaned in, eyes gleaming in anticipation.

Obviously, it should be my Deck! (both thought)

"Hiss!!" Chi inhaled sharply.
