And after all that, they had even dared to apologize to him, which only angered him more. But most of all, Rein was infuriated by their words after the change.
— I forgave them long ago.
Of course, he did not believe him; he had known Rein for a long time and could read him like an open book. But he decided to simply ignore it. After all, this party was bound by many things, but the strongest feeling was hatred for the weak, and especially for those who could only run away.
— Well, let's go faster to the guild; we still need to exchange the magic stones and get a spot at the "Benevolent Mistress."
After they received the money, before he could say anything, everyone scattered in different directions.
«I'll remember this!» – he shouted to himself, perfectly understanding that he would forget it in a second.
Dungeon.
Rein and his party were ascending; they had spent the whole day there. His body was so tired that every cell begged for rest. But even so, he was in a good mood. For the first time in a long life, he had gotten so lucky that a rather rare item had dropped for him. Imagining how much he could get for it, he involuntarily smiled, involuntarily touching this item.
— Hey, Rein, why so happy?
— As if you don't know.
— Big deal, some pathetic item dropped. If I had killed it, I'd have gotten something better.
— Just admit you envy me.
— Me, envy you? Who would ever envy you? Now, as for me… I'm so magnificent.
— Weren't you the one who got caught peeping at girls in the hot spring the last time we were there?
— Had to bring that up. And what I saw then was so alluring that I regret nothing.
— Enough!!! Someone's approaching, be ready!
— Captain, this is only the eighth floor. Why so worried?
The captain narrowed his eyes at Albert; under his gaze, he immediately fell silent. For their captain was very serious, which was very rare. Because of this, everyone involuntarily tensed, gripping their weapons.
«What's happening?» – Rein thought, drawing his bow and preparing to defend his life. He had only seen his captain like this twice. The captain's skill was very unique and at the same time useless – he could see hatred, but could not know whom it was directed at. This skill was of no use in the dungeon, for every monster hates absolutely everything it sees. But his thoughts were interrupted by the captain.
— He's already close… get ready… it's… an adventurer.
Casting a glance of confusion at the captain, how he could know whether it was a person or not, they did not have to wait long before a person approached them at a fast pace from around the corner. A person, they understood.
— Shoot!
The captain shouted without hesitation. And Rein, without a second thought, drew the string and shot.
— Damn!
Whoosh
Whoosh
Whoosh
However hard Rein tried, he could not hit this adventurer, as if the man saw right through him.
— Use magic, Rein!
— Yes!
He began drawing the string again, but now he began filling it with magic, to give the arrow a higher speed. Seeing how the captain pushed the boy back, he nodded slightly, which gave him the signal, and he released the string. His eyes widened a little when the adventurer began dodging his arrow, without even seeing it.
«What the hell!?»
Whoosh.
Whoosh.
But even so, he lacked the speed, and his shoulder was pierced through.
Rein's lips rose.
«Take that, you bastard!»
— Kh! Kh! Kh!
Falling to his knees, he coughed up blood, covering his mouth with his hand.
— I pushed beyond my limits.
He whispered, seeing how the captain and Albert began to approach the adventurer. He smiled; he began to feel his consciousness slowly fading. But he was sure they would win, for they always won.
— Captain! Rein lost consciousness!
— Don't get distracted! He'll be fine!
Clang.
Deflecting the sword blow of the unknown adventurer.
That was the last thing Rein heard before fully sinking into sleep.
— Heh heh heh, you picked the wrong ones!
Dealing a blow from top to bottom on the adventurer's back, looking at his face in expectation of seeing suffering, but he saw only hatred, which surprised Albert. Looking into the adventurer's eyes, he felt his body covered in cold sweat.
— Ah!?
This moment of hesitation became Albert's biggest mistake. The adventurer took advantage of this mistake and attacked. In the last seconds, he came to his senses and tried to dodge the adventurer's lightning-fast attack, but a sharp pain in his shoulder told him that he had not fully dodged. But the pain did not frighten him; he had long been used to it, but what frightened Albert the most was that he could not feel his arm, however hard he tried; there was only pain there.
Lowering his gaze to where his arm should be, he saw only emptiness. At this sight, he froze in horror, unable to move, unable to believe what was happening.
— ALBERT!!!
Clang!
Deflecting the adventurer's blow aimed at Albert's head. Looking at Albert's dire condition, anger and hatred seized him.
— I'LL KILL YOU!
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
He unleashed a hail of blows upon the youth, but the youth defended with ease.
— Albert!
Clang!
However hard he tried, he could not get through to him, which only fueled his fury. His attacks became more and more reckless, until it turned into simple sword-swinging.
— ARM!!! MY ARM!!! CAPTAIN, MY ARM!!!
Hearing his screams, the captain completely lost control of himself. His whole mind was filled with anger and hatred for the adventurer standing before him. Because of the loss of control, many gaps for attack appeared in his stance, which his opponent took advantage of, dealing a blow from left to right, tearing open his chest.
— Agh! You bastard!
The sharp pain helped him come to his senses; leaping back from his opponent, he wanted to regroup and take out what he had saved for such cases.
Clang!
But no one was going to let him go so easily. Before he could do anything, his opponent fell upon him like a rabid beast.
Clang!
Clang!
— Agh!
— Die, you scum!!!
Making a lunge at his opponent, he smiled when he felt his sword pass through him. But his smile quickly faded when he could no longer move his sword.
— Ah!?
Seeing how this adventurer held his sword in place with his hands, without hesitation he reached for the magic sword and dealt a blow from top to bottom.
BANG!
«Dodged?.. But not completely.»
A smile appeared on his face again; he rushed at him to finish him off once and for all, but, to his surprise, this adventurer also rushed to meet him, as if these wounds were just mosquito bites to him. But even so, he could see right through him, how his movements had become sluggish.
— However much you pretend you don't care, your body says otherwise! You bastard!
He rushed forward with confidence that he would win. As his attacks became more and more successful, but even so, he did not relax, for the cuts he left were not deep, and the most surprising thing he noticed was that no blood flowed from them.
His first thought was that it was some kind of magic. But the more the adventurer's body became covered with wounds, the more he understood that it was not magic, but only mastery of his own body. Every time he cut him, the adventurer tried to close the wound with his muscles.
Before him stood not a child, but a seasoned adventurer who had been through more than one battle.
But however well he controlled his body, he saw how he became slower every second, and the force in his blows was no longer the same as before.
— This is the end! Die!
