Because he feared being immediately sent by the system to the next world, Uesugi Ryu had delayed accepting the position of Director.
He ignored everyone's suggestions, but this little trick could not fool the system.
Uesugi Ryu held a gel pen in his hand and was writing something.
In the silent room, only the faint rustling sound of pen against paper could be heard.
"Ding!"
The usually pleasant system notification now sounded somewhat harsh in Uesugi Ryu's ears, and his hand paused.
[Main Quest: Perfectly Completed]
[Reward Obtained: One Special Draw Opportunity]
[Beginner World Tokyo Ghoul officially ends. Beginner benefits (talent assistance) withdrawn!]
[Soul Devour is an evil slaughter-type talent, and it has high requirements for the user's mental state!]
[To prevent the host from losing sanity, the system previously simplified the skill usage process, helping the host collect souls, crush souls, and eliminate hidden dangers within them.]
[Other beginner benefits retained (identity arrangement, language proficiency)]
[Soul Devour (Unlocked)]
(Whether human or animal, as long as it is a living being with a soul, it can be devoured!)
[The draw interface has changed! Current energy points: 1103]
[In future worlds, energy points can be used to obtain initial identity, language proficiency, and other functions to better integrate into the world]
(The more energy consumed, the higher the initial identity status obtained!)
[The host can no longer continue to gain energy points or mana in the Tokyo Ghoul world]
(Start the next world immediately: yes or no?)
Along with the unlocking of Soul Devour, a powerful urge to kill suddenly surged from deep within Uesugi Ryu.
With a snap, the gel pen in his hand broke.
Uesugi Ryu took several deep breaths, slowly calming the turbulent emotions in his heart.
The spilled ink spread across the nearly filled page, staining it with dark blotches.
Looking at the system panel prompts, Uesugi Ryu let out a light breath of relief. Having a choice was enough.
Then, looking at the description of Soul Devour, a look of understanding appeared on his face.
When he killed Furuta Nimura before, Soul Devour had not activated, and he had felt puzzled at the time.
After all, ghouls and humans were not fundamentally different. There was no reason for Soul Devour to treat them differently.
"And yet it completely refuses human souls..."
Uesugi Ryu shook his head and did not dwell on it further. Instead, he thought silently.
"System, after going to the next world, can I return to the Tokyo Ghoul world?"
Although he was looking forward to the next world, he still needed to clarify things.
He could not just leave Mado Akira a widow.
The system had always been like a mute. No matter what Uesugi Ryu asked before, it usually remained unresponsive, and this time was no different.
Seeing this, Uesugi Ryu sighed softly and did not ask further.
Instead, he turned his attention to the special draw at the bottom of the system panel.
"Hopefully there's some kind of turning point."
He gently tapped the draw button.
[Congratulations to the host for obtaining a special item: Adventurer Team Certificate!]
[Adventurer Team Certificate]
[Item Description: Can be used to establish an E-rank adventurer team, with a maximum of three members.]
[Team members can follow the host to the next world and adventure together.]
(Subsequent upgrades can be obtained by completing main quests, increasing member limits and unlocking team skills.)
A smile curved at the corner of Uesugi Ryu's mouth.
He seriously suspected that this prize pool probably only had this one item.
It could even be upgraded by completing quests. The system wasn't even trying to hide it.
"Just what I needed. System, you're the best!"
Although the system was taciturn, it was extremely generous with rewards.
Uesugi Ryu brought his fists together, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes.
.........
Near a remote coastline, a massive luxury cruise ship was docked at sea.
Inside the grand hall, melodious music echoed.
A large number of ghouls were indulging in unrestrained revelry.
Airports and similar places had already been mostly sealed off by the CCG, making it difficult for ghouls to escape by private planes.
However, as an island nation surrounded by the sea, Japan had a long coastline.
Even the CCG could not completely blockade it.
Thus, escaping by ship became the best option for ghouls.
This cruise ship had clearly become the Noah's Ark in their eyes.
At the center of the dance floor were elegantly dressed ghouls in luxurious attire.
They stepped through tango movements, their fangs faintly visible between their lips.
A Kakugan noblewoman used her Rinkaku to lift the topmost glass of black diamond champagne from the tower.
The pale golden liquid dripped along the kagune onto the wool carpet.
The ghouls at the outer edges appeared slightly less refined, but each was still dressed in suits.
They held plates, quietly savoring the "delicacies" laid out on nearby tables.
Tsukiyama Mirumo appeared not far above with servants including Kanae.
A sharp-eyed ghoul noticed this and immediately raised his glass, shouting.
"As expected of Tsukiyama-sama, the true gentleman. Even at a time like this, he still remembers us fellow kin!"
A chorus of agreement erupted instantly.
"Without Tsukiyama-sama, we wouldn't even know how to escape the CCG's pursuit!"
"I propose we all toast Tsukiyama-sama together!"
Tsukiyama Mirumo smiled faintly. Facing the gratitude and respect of his fellow kin, he simply raised his glass slightly.
"We are all of the same kind. Since the Tsukiyama family has the capability, we will never abandon everyone. Cheers!"
"Oh! Oh! Oh!!"
Cheers erupted below.
Tsukiyama Mirumo had been classmates with Prime Minister Wakayama of Japan.
With this connection, he was able to find this coastline that had not yet been noticed by the CCG.
Led by the Tsukiyama family, and in cooperation with Madam's faction, they created this so-called Noah's Ark.
However, they were not acting out of pure goodwill. It was simply easier to stir the waters with more people.
The cruise ship was already loaded with many speedboats.
If they were intercepted by the CCG, the large number of ghouls would scatter all at once.
Whoever survived would depend on their own ability.
Tsukiyama Mirumo raised his hand slightly to quiet the commotion below.
"Do you know the secret beneath this ship's waterline?"
The swaying wine glass reflected the chandelier into fragmented star-like shapes as he spoke loudly.
"The twenty refrigerated compartments do not contain beef. Once all our kin have arrived, we will depart."
"This toast is to freedom!"
With that, he raised his glass and drained the crimson liquid in one gulp.
He gave a slight bow, then turned and left.
The ghouls below looked at each other.
What they all really wanted to say was.
"Why wait? Forget those who haven't arrived. Just set sail already!"
But they only dared to think it. Whether to depart or not was not something they could decide.
In a quiet corridor, Kanae followed beside Tsukiyama Mirumo and said in a low voice.
"Tsukiyama-sama, everything on the young master's side is ready."
Tsukiyama Mirumo nodded, a trace of reluctance flashing in his eyes.
"Then I'll leave the rest to you. Take him and go first."
Kanae hesitated slightly and asked.
"Tsukiyama-sama, what about you? Why not leave together? With the family's wealth, we could rise again."
Tsukiyama Mirumo gently shook his head.
"I am Japanese. I have been born and have grown up here. I will not leave this place."
"Besides, things will not be as simple as you think. I leave it to you. Take good care of my son."
Hearing this, Kanae said no more. 'He' bowed deeply.
"Tsukiyama-sama, please take care. This subordinate takes his leave."
