Chapter 11 - Chapter 2: "Ash in the wires"

🌘 TWO WEEKS AFTER THE LEAK

The city didn't burn.

It crumbled — slowly, inward, like an empire rotting under its own weight.

After the leak, there were protests. Frame executions. Emergency purges.

But in the silence that followed, something worse took hold:

> Paranoia.

Silver Maw declared martial law in Sector 3.

Hollow Sons vanished into tunnels, no longer speaking in public.

The Fire Wives executed two of their own — "for treason."

And through it all, no one could say what happened to Shohan.

His body was never found.

Some say he burned.

Others say he ran.

Rafi didn't believe either.

He believed Shohan chose to vanish.

Because the city wasn't done changing yet.

🏚 RAFI — AGE 11 — MIRPUR GHOST SHELTER

He wasn't hiding.

He was watching.

Rafi spent his days eating cold dal and cracked biscuits.

His nights were spent watching Frame towers through hacked drone feeds.

And the rest of the time?

He studied.

Because Shohan once told him:

> "Power belongs to the one who understands the rules — and pretends not to."

So Rafi read Frame codebooks. He listened to broken radios.

He built maps of loyalty, paranoia, memory.

He built a ghost version of NeoDhaka — one only he could see.

---

🧠 RAFI'S EVOLUTION

Rafi wasn't like Shohan.

Shohan was a god of lies.

Rafi was something else entirely.

He remembered things.

Too fast. Too well.

Not like a genius.

Like a recorder.

He could repeat every sound he'd heard in the last six months.

Every voice. Every tone.

He could redraw maps after a two-second glance.

He could recite Frame encryption strings from memory.

Shohan had called it a "gift."

Ansha called it dangerous.

🔥 THE MESSAGE

One night, two men came to the shelter.

They weren't Frame.

They weren't soldiers.

They were scared.

They carried a blood-stained envelope.

Said it was from someone called "Ash Whisper."

Inside: a chip drive.

Rafi plugged it into the old tablet Shohan left him.

The screen blinked.

And then played a voice.

> "Rafi. If you're hearing this, I'm gone. And you have a choice."

Shohan's voice.

> "You can hide. Or you can finish what I started. Find the thing they buried. The real project. The one none of them speak of."

> "The city's full of smoke now. But underneath the wires… there's ash."

> "Burn it clean."

> "Don't lie."

The screen went dark.

👁️ CLOSING SCENE – RAFI'S JOURNAL ENTRY

> I remember everything. That's my curse. That's my weapon.

The Frames want to forget. I want them to remember.

He never lied.

And neither will I.

Rafi looked out the window.

The night was quiet.

Too quiet.

And he whispered the name:

> "Ash Whisper."

Then he picked up the tablet.

And got to work.
