In the mountains and forests, numerous monsters were either actively lying in ambush or had wandered in by mistake after getting lost during the war. Regardless of how they got there, many had already quietly taken root along the human defense line. If they weren't cleared out regularly and their numbers were allowed to grow, a dangerous scenario could unfold: under the command of a monster boss, they might flank the human legions from the sides and rear while the humans were occupied fighting the Green Dragon Army on the front lines.
