Currently, the only spice cultivated in the Hesse Territory is vanilla. The main part of this spice is its produced pods, which can be widely used in cooking, baking, desserts, and beverages.
Presently, the nuns of the Dawn Church in the territory can make vanilla pods. When making beverages, fruit tea, or milk tea, the vanilla pods are cut in half, and the seeds inside are scraped out, which are the main source of fragrance, and then these seeds are scraped into freshly brewed hot black tea.
The shell of the vanilla pod also has a fragrance and can be immersed in hot black tea together to enhance the aroma. It is removed after soaking for about 5 minutes. The shell of the vanilla pod can be used 2-3 times until the scent completely disappears.
Through this cooking method, one can understand just how expensive this natural spice is. The price of one pound of vanilla seeds can be as high as 1,000 Golden Crowns.
