The battlefield slowly returned to silence.
What had once been filled with the sounds of clashing weapons, furious shouting, and the terrifying roar of the creature was now reduced to the quiet crackling of distant flames and the soft rustle of the wind passing through the damaged trees. The crimson barrier that had surrounded Raven's Crossing was completely gone, allowing the afternoon sunlight to return to the valley and wash over the destruction that remained.
Luca remained beside the Saintess for some time.
He didn't ask another question.
There were too many things he wanted to know, but he understood that this wasn't the moment to force answers from her. She had exhausted herself resisting the formation, and whatever had awakened within her had clearly taken a tremendous toll.
Instead, Luca simply sat beside her.
For once, he allowed himself to breathe.
The Saintess noticed the change in his expression.
"You look tired."
Luca glanced at her.
"I died."
She blinked.
