Not to mention, Nuri was practically her second daughter anyway. She had spent as much time at their estate as at her own castle when she and Astrid were young.
"Come on, Astrid, come on!" Nuri grabbed Astrid's hands and tugged. "If we don't hurry, we'll miss all the animals! We have to see them all!"
Astrid gave her a fond smile. "Nuri, that's kind of impossible. It's called a zoo for a reason. They're all enclosed. It's not like they're going to run away."
Nuri's face fell.
"Wait...so they can't go back to the wild? They're going to stay in their little cages forever?"
A look of fierce determination replaced the sadness.
"That's so sad! I'll free them all! I'll break open every cage and smash every lock and—"
"NURI!" Astrid grabbed her by the shoulders before she could charge at the nearest enclosure. "Wait! Stop! It's not what you think!"
"My father will help! He can burn through anything! We'll have them all liberated by sunset!"
