The black sedan waited in the darkness of a blind alley. Inside the plush cabin, Victoria tapped her phone screen, her profile lit by the interface.
Three sharp knocks rapped against the passenger-side window.
It was Nash. He stood there, a thick bundle of documents clutched against him. Victoria lowered the window.
"So, did the client get his destination? Night rates are high in this sector," she quipped.
Nash didn't answer right away. His green eyes were wide open, staring into the void. He displayed absolute calm, motionless, as if refusing to move too quickly.
He reached out to open the passenger door, but Dahlia and Aiko suddenly appeared behind him and grabbed his arms. They pulled him toward the rear doors.
"Nope, you're getting in the back with us," Dahlia declared. "Come on. You did the all the work, you've earned us taking care of you. No excuses."
