Chapter 38 - chapter 38

After giving the vendor two hundred demon spirit coins, Chang Ping bought up the entire pot of noodles.

To the astonishment of the passersby, he picked up the scalding hot pot and, slurping it down, swallowed the whole pot of noodles, broth and all. He wasn't eating noodles anymore; he was drinking them.

The onlookers couldn't help but swallow hard, feeling their own hunger rise.

"Is his plain noodles really that fragrant? So fragrant that customers pick up the pot and drink from it?"

"Whose child is this? His appetite is enormous! A huge pot of noodles, weighing dozens of kilograms, was completely devoured in less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn."

"The most outrageous thing is that after drinking such a large pot of soup, an ordinary person would probably be stuffed like a woman seven or eight months pregnant, but this child's stomach didn't even bulge. What a huge appetite! He's practically a human monster."

The vendor stood dumbfounded to the side, watching Chang Ping finish the pot of noodles, both shocked and embarrassed. He had been doing business on Academy Street for so many years, and this was the first time he had encountered such an oddball.

The noise on the street attracted Lu Piao from the pharmacy. He loved watching a commotion.

"What? What happened? Why is everyone gathered here?" Lu Piao jumped around at the back of the crowd. He was too short to see what was happening inside.

A kind uncle told him, "A strange man came to the noodle stall and drank a whole pot of noodles in one go, without even turning red in the face or panting, and without even blinking."

A strange man? More like a glutton, right?

The mention of a glutton immediately reminded Lu Piao

of that man who had left a deep impression on him. "Could it be Chang Ping coming to eat on the street?" Lu Piao's curiosity was too strong; he gritted his teeth, squeezed through the crowd's crotch, and arrived at the noodle stall.

Looking up and seeing the extraordinary man's true face, Lu Piao dusted off his hands, stood up, and gave a knowing look.

Chang Ping was picking at the noodles left on the pot with his chopsticks when he saw Lu Piao approaching and quickly put the pot down.

"Brother Lu, you've come at the right time! I was just about to look for you!" Chang Ping beckoned to Lu Piao, gesturing for him to sit down and chat.

The vendor thoughtfully brought over a pot of free tea and poured it for the two of them.

He was very grateful to Chang Ping; if it weren't for him, his noodles wouldn't have sold out so quickly. His back was hurting today, so he planned to go home early and rest.

The noodle-drinking spectacle was over, and the passersby lost interest in watching, soon dispersing. However, thanks to Chang Ping's promotion, everyone remembered the noodle stall and planned to try his noodles tomorrow to see if they were really that delicious.

"What do you want? Let me make it clear, I don't have money to treat you to breakfast early." Lu Piao picked up the warm tea and took a small sip.

Unlike Chang Ping, who was a big animal, he didn't just shovel boiling water into his mouth.

"Good thing!" Chang Ping smiled, then took out thirty banknotes from his spatial ring, slapped them on the table, and pushed them in front of Lu Piao, saying, "Here! Exactly three thousand demon spirit coins. I've been feeling bad about you treating me to dinner, this is to make up for it."

This would save him from having to mention to everyone that he'd treated him to three thousand demon spirit coins.

Lu Piao grabbed the banknotes, counted them, and asked in surprise, "Where did you get so much money?"

"Yesterday afternoon I went to the trial grounds to hunt horned sheep, this money is from selling my spoils," Chang Ping answered truthfully, because there was no need to hide it.

Yesterday, he had captured the black fox, a great achievement, and Ye Sheng hadn't pursued the matter of him exterminating the horned sheep. So, there was no need to conceal it anymore.

"Horned sheep?" Lu Piao was stunned for a moment, then suddenly realized, "No wonder we didn't find a single horned sheep last night, so you wiped them all out? You're so unfair, you didn't leave us a single one."

  " That's outrageous!

There are at least eight hundred, if not a thousand, horned sheep in the Trial Grounds, and he wiped them all out in one afternoon, leaving them with not a single wool. They've wasted half the night searching the Trial Grounds.

" "I didn't know you were going to hunt horned sheep too, and nobody told me! Besides, if I don't hunt horned sheep, how am I supposed to pay you back?" Chang Ping retorted without hesitation. He pointed to the pharmacy and asked curiously, "What are you doing at the pharmacy?"

Could it be to buy Purple Orchid Grass?

He'd eaten Lu Piao's allowance, and he'd robbed the horned sheep from the Trial Grounds; where was Nie Li going to get the money?

"Mwah!" Lu Piao kissed the banknote, offering no feigned refusal, and stuffed it directly into his pocket. Although he was from a noble family, he didn't yet have a spatial ring.

A spatial ring of several cubic meters cost tens of thousands of demon spirit coins, something he couldn't afford.

If he were as diligent as Du Ze, his father, the head of the family, might be happy to give him one. Unfortunately, he was too lazy and constantly caused trouble, either peeping at girls bathing or stealing girls' undergarments.

His father wanted nothing more than to beat this good-for-nothing to death with a broom handle; how could he possibly buy him such an expensive ring?

"I'm telling you, but you absolutely mustn't tell anyone," Lu Piao bent down and whispered mysteriously to Chang Ping, "Nie Li led us to the pharmacy to buy Purple Orchid Grass, saying he'd help us make a small fortune."

"Is he crazy? He actually bought 10,000 demon spirit coins worth of Purple Orchid Grass? What kind of fortune can this mosquito-repelling herb make?" Chang

Ping was stunned; it was indeed as he expected.

Nie Li wanted to speculate on Purple Orchid Grass and make a quick buck.

Because of his interference, Nie Li failed to hunt the horned sheep and thus didn't meet Xiao Ning'er.

Without this little rich woman's support, even if Nie Li speculated on Purple Orchid Grass, he wouldn't make much.

Besides, what did it matter to him whether he made a lot or a little?

"Ten thousand demon spirit coins? Where did you get so much money?" Chang Ping asked suspiciously. Had Nie Li gotten involved with Xiao Ning'er again in another way?

"It's Shen..." As if realizing something was wrong, Lu Piao hurriedly covered his mouth. "I drank too much tea and needed to pee. Sorry, Brother Chang."

Lu Piao chuckled, clutching his crotch, and ran back to the pharmacy like a gust of wind.

He could clearly sense that he and Chang Ping were not on the same wavelength. Chang Ping was too outstanding; his future achievements would inevitably be extraordinary, something a loser like him could never hope to reach.

Compared to Chang Ping, Lu Piao preferred to be with Nie Li. Their talents were equally rubbish, and they were both from noble families, so there was no sense of distance between them.

Therefore, he couldn't betray Nie Li and reveal that Nie Li was going to join forces with Shen Yue to deal with Chang Ping.

"Shen Yue or Shen Fei?" Watching Lu Piao's flustered departure, Chang Ping narrowed his eyes, a cold glint in them.

Why were they funding Nie Li? What benefit did they get from it?

  Could it be...?
