Chapter 95 - A Silent Gesture

At the billing counter, Aryan paid the bill and picked up the shopping bags.

Aanya looked at him.

"What are you doing? Do you think I can't pay?"

Aryan looked at her calmly.

"Well... husbands usually don't like their wives to pay the bill."

The cashier smiled, hearing their conversation.

Aanya looked seriously at Aryan for a moment before giving a fake smile.

"Is that so?"

Aryan simply smiled.

Later, Aanya continued shopping.

She deliberately bought several things for herself and handed all the bags to Aryan.

She expected him to become irritated or tired.

But Aryan didn't complain even once.

He carried all the bags without saying anything.

Aanya secretly looked at him a few times, wondering when he would finally get tired.

But he didn't.

After a while, they noticed an ice cream stall.

Aryan looked at Aanya.

"I'll get you butterscotch ice cream."

Aanya looked at him seriously.

"No need."

Aryan smiled slightly.

"I know you're angry with me, but don't take your anger out on your favourite ice cream, okay? I'll get it for you."

Before Aanya could say anything, he walked toward the ice cream stall.

Aanya noticed that he hadn't given her any of the shopping bags to carry.

Unlike Kunal, he didn't ask her to carry anything for herself.

She looked at Aryan from a distance.

He was struggling a little while carrying all the bags and buying the ice cream at the same time.

Aanya felt a little guilty.

She walked toward him and took some of the bags from his hands.

Aryan looked at her in surprise.

Aanya immediately turned her face away.

Aryan didn't say anything.

He simply smiled.

After getting the ice cream, they sat together and ate.

While Aanya was eating, Aryan kept looking at her.

Aanya noticed it.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Aryan immediately looked away.

"Nothing."

Aanya narrowed her eyes at him but said nothing.

Later, they continued walking through the mall.

They eventually reached the jewellery section.

Aanya suddenly noticed a beautiful pair of earrings.

She pointed toward them.

"How much are these?"

The staff member smiled.

"Ma'am, those aren't for sale."

Aanya looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

The staff member explained,

"Actually, we have a challenge."

"Whoever completes 100 push-ups can get those earrings for free."

Aanya's eyes widened.

"One hundred push-ups?"

The staff member nodded.

"Yes, ma'am. I know it's difficult. Many people have tried, but most of them failed."

She then glanced at Aryan.

"If you want, you can ask your husband to try."

Aanya immediately looked at Aryan.

Aryan looked at the earrings and then at Aanya.

Aanya quickly said,

"No, thank you."

"Do you have the same model that I can buy?"

The staff member shook her head.

"Sorry, ma'am. That's the only pair."

Aanya looked disappointed.

Before she could say anything, Aryan spoke.

"I can do it."

Aanya looked at him in surprise.

"What?"

Aryan handed the shopping bags to Aanya.

"Hold these."

Before Aanya could respond, Aryan got down and started doing push-ups.

People nearby began gathering around them.

Aanya stared at him.

"He's actually doing it?"

The staff member started counting.

"One... two... three..."

Aanya watched silently.

As the numbers increased, Aryan continued without stopping.

"Twenty... thirty... fifty..."

Aanya became more nervous.

"Come on, Mr. Aryan..."

She didn't even realize she had whispered it.

The crowd continued counting.

"Ninety-seven!"

"Ninety-eight!"

"Ninety-nine!"

"One hundred!"

Everyone clapped.

Aanya stood there completely stunned.

Aryan slowly stood up.

The staff member smiled and handed him the earrings.

"Congratulations, sir!"

Aryan took them and walked toward Aanya.

He held the earrings out to her.

Aanya looked at him, surprised.

Then she looked down at the earrings.

She slowly took them from his hand.

"Thank you."

Aryan smiled.

He was about to take the shopping bags again, but Aanya stopped him.

"Leave it. I'll carry them."

She took the bags herself and started walking.

Aryan smiled and followed her.

...

Later, inside the car, Aanya kept glancing at Aryan.

Aryan noticed.

"What happened?"

Aanya hesitated.

"Why did you do that?"

Aryan looked at her.

"Do what?"

"The 100 push-ups."

Aryan smiled.

"Of course, for you, Aanya."

Aanya froze.

She stared at him.

Aryan suddenly realized what he had said and quickly tried to cover it up.

"I mean... you were already upset, so I had no other choice."

"I had to do it."

Aanya didn't say anything.

Aryan glanced at her and deliberately teased,

"Looks like you got impressed."

Aanya immediately looked at him.

"What? Do you think I got impressed by those push-ups?"

She smirked.

"Impossible. Aanya will never get impressed by such things."

Aryan simply smiled.

Aanya looked at him suspiciously.

"Well, did you do it just to impress me or what?"

"No. Of course not. Why would I try to impress you?"

"Yeah, yeah. I know you weren't trying to impress me. In fact, you were trying to impress the staff there, right?"

Aryan didn't say anything.

Aanya smiled to herself.

...

Later, at home, Aanya showed Radha all the things she had bought.

Radha looked at everything and smiled.

"They're all very nice. Even this little baby girl's dress is so cute."

Aanya smiled.

"Well, Mom, we'll leave now."

Radha looked at her in surprise.

"What? But you came just last night. It hasn't even been a full day yet."

"I know, Mom, but Aryan has a lot of work."

Radha looked at her suspiciously.

Aanya noticed her expression and quickly added,

"And I also have to go to college."

Radha nodded.

"Okay. I didn't say anything."

Aanya became quiet.

Later, Aryan was in the room talking on the phone.

"You handle the work. I'll come as soon as possible."

Aanya stood at the door and knocked.

Aryan looked at her.

"I'll call you later."

He ended the call and looked at Aanya.

Aanya spoke without much expression.

"Let's go now."

Aryan looked surprised.

"Really, Aanya? You're coming with me?"

"Did you tell Aunty and Uncle?"

"Yes."

Aryan couldn't hide his happiness.

Aanya immediately added,

"Don't think that I've forgiven you."

Aryan's smile faded slightly.

"I'm coming because I have classes, and Prerna's wedding is coming up. I don't want to upset her. Okay?"

She paused.

"I still remember everything that happened."

Aryan didn't say anything.

Aanya looked at him.

"Are you just going to stand there and stare? Come on. We have to leave, right?"

Aryan nodded.

"Yeah. Let's go."

Before leaving, Aanya and Aryan took Naveen and Radha's blessings.

As Aryan walked toward the car, Naveen stopped Aanya.

"Aanya beta, I know you're still upset that we got you married so early."

Aanya remained silent.

Naveen continued,

"I don't know if you'll ever forgive us for what we did."

Radha looked at Aanya.

"But there's one thing we know. Aryan is a good person."

Aanya looked at her mother.

Radha continued softly,

"He'll take care of you."

After a pause, she added,

"Take care."

Aanya nodded.

Then she and Aryan got into the car and left.

Later, they reached Mumbai and returned to their home.

As they entered the house, the doorbell rang. Prerna went to open the door and was surprised to see Aryan and Aanya standing outside.

Her face immediately lit up.

"Mom! Look, Bhai and Bhabhi are here!"

She quickly went toward Aanya and hugged her.

Devika heard Prerna and came out. The moment she saw them, she smiled happily.

"Aanya beta, you came!"

Aanya smiled.

Devika hugged her warmly.

"Finally, you came back."

Prerna smiled.

"Yes, Bhabhi. We really missed you."

Nandini, who had just come out of her room, rolled her eyes when she heard that.

Aanya smiled.

"Even I missed you."

Nandini walked toward them.

"So, you came?"

Everyone looked at her.

She looked at Aanya and continued,

"You came so early. The way you left, I thought you wouldn't come back for at least a week. But you came within just a day?"

Aanya calmly replied,

"This is my home too, Aunty."

Nandini became silent.

Aanya continued,

"And I didn't come by myself. Mr. Aryan came all the way there and brought me back."

Prerna smiled.

Nandini became irritated and walked back toward her room.

Devika looked at Aanya.

"Don't feel bad about what she said, beta. Anyway, you both go to your room and take some rest."

Aanya nodded.

She walked toward their room, and Aryan followed her.

After they left, Prerna looked at Devika.

"Mom, look at Bhai! He convinced Bhabhi within just one day."

Devika smiled.

"Yeah. Even I'm surprised. I don't know what he did, but finally Aanya came back."

The Next Day — University

After Aanya told her friends everything that had happened, Nisha smiled.

"Looks like Aryan is really determined."

Meera immediately added,

"Of course! He even bent down on his knees for you, and then he did 100 push-ups for you."

Aanya rolled her eyes.

"He also broke the watch I gave him and shouted at me."

Tara nodded.

"He said it was a misunderstanding, but you're still angry with him."

Aanya didn't say anything.

Meera suddenly asked,

"By the way, did you bring the earrings?"

Aanya smiled and showed them.

Nisha's eyes widened.

"Wow! They're so pretty!"

Meera and Tara looked at them.

"Yeah!"

Nisha sighed dramatically.

"I wish I had a boyfriend who would do 100 push-ups for me and get me earrings like these."

Tara laughed.

"Just keep dreaming."

Nisha gave her a serious look.

After a pause, she said,

"Well, guys... I actually have something important to tell you."

Meera looked at her.

"What?"

Nisha shyly smiled.

"I'm seeing someone."

All three stared at her.

"What?!"

Tara immediately asked,

"Who?"

Aanya added,

"Where did you meet him?"

Meera asked,

"Do we know him?"

Nisha shook her head.

"You guys don't know him. His name is Ishaan."

"I met him on Instagram."

Meera's eyes widened.

"Instagram?"

Nisha nodded.

Aanya looked at her seriously.

"But Nisha, it's online. I mean... do you really trust him? There are so many people who pretend to be someone else online.

Tara nodded.

"Yeah. You really need to be careful."

Nisha smiled.

"Yes, guys. I understand your concern. But don't worry. I'm not so dumb that I'll let someone fool me."

She paused.

"I'll be careful."

At the Mehra House

Aanya looked at Aryan curiously.

"Mr. Aryan, did you have any girlfriends before?"

Aryan looked at her.

"No."

Aanya nodded.

"Well, as I expected. It's impossible for anyone to be with you. Everyone knows that if someone stays with you, they'll eventually go crazy."

Aryan looked at her with a straight face.

"That's why I married you. You were already crazy from the beginning."

Aanya stared at him seriously.

After a pause, she replied,

"I know. And that's why I'm maintaining my distance from you, so I don't become completely crazy like you."

Aryan looked at her seriously.

"You..."

Before he could finish, they heard Prerna calling,

"Bhai! Bhabhi! Dinner is ready!"

Aanya gave Aryan a side-eye and walked away.

Aryan watched her leave before following her to the dining room.

Aryan immediately picked up his glass of water and held it out to her.

"Here."

Aanya glanced at him but didn't take it.

Before Aryan could say anything, Prerna handed Aanya a glass of water.

"Bhabhi, have some water."

Aanya took the glass from Prerna and drank it.

Aryan quietly drank the water from his own glass.

Devika noticed what had happened and looked at Aanya thoughtfully.

She couldn't help but wonder if Aanya was still angry with Aryan.

After a moment, Devika casually said,

"By the way, Aryan, I kept the cake Aanya made in the fridge, just like you told me."

Aanya suddenly looked up in surprise.

She turned toward Aryan.

Aryan also looked at her but remained silent.

Aanya didn't say anything.

Later That Night

While lying in bed, Aanya kept thinking about what Devika had said.

Why did Mr. Aryan tell Aunty to keep the cake I made in the fridge?

She looked at Aryan, who was already asleep.

Aanya quietly turned away and tried to sleep.

The Next Day

Aryan and Aanya were travelling to the university in the car.

Aanya kept glancing at Aryan.

Aryan noticed her.

Aanya immediately turned her face toward the window.

Aryan gave her a suspicious look but didn't say anything.

Soon, they reached the university.

Aanya got out of the car and looked back at Aryan before walking inside.

Throughout the day, she couldn't stop thinking about him.

Why did he keep the cake?

And why did he tell Aunty to keep it in the fridge?

She couldn't understand him.

That Evening

Aryan came to pick Aanya up from the university.

Aanya got into the car.

Just then, Aryan's phone rang.

He answered the call.

"Hello?"

A man's voice came from the other end.

"Mr. Mehra, this is Karan Singh."

Aryan immediately recognized him.

"Yes, Mr. Karan Singh."

"Sir, your watch is ready. You can come and collect it now."

Aanya, who was sitting beside Aryan, suddenly looked at him in confusion.

Aryan replied,

"Yeah. I'll come."

He ended the call.

Aanya continued looking at him.

---

They soon arrived at the watch shop.

Karan greeted Aryan and then looked at Aanya.

Aryan introduced her.

"This is my wife, Aanya."

Aanya smiled and greeted him.

"Nice to meet you."

Karan smiled.

"Nice to meet you too, ma'am."

Then Karan asked a staff member to bring the watch.

A few moments later, the staff member returned with a small box.

"Sir, here is your watch."

Aanya looked at it.

Her eyes widened.

It was the same watch she had gifted Aryan on his birthday.

The watch she thought he had rejected.

The watch she had seen fall to the floor.

Aryan took it from the box and carefully put it on his wrist.

Karan looked at the watch and smiled.

"Looks like it's a very important watch, sir."

Aryan looked at it for a moment.

"It is."

Aanya stared at him silently.

For the first time, she realized that Aryan hadn't thrown away her gift.

He had gone all the way to get it repaired.
