Chapter 10 - 010: A Needy Help

Kelvin stared around the soldiers and began to calculate in his mind the amount of soldiers that were lost in this single battle. He couldn't shake off the feeling of fear and worry.

They were in hundreds whereas they had come here in hundreds. Nearly half of his men were sent to their early graves. A heavy blow it was. All he could make out of these trash was their cold fallen bodies that bleeded dried juice.

"Dammit!! If only those fucking humans had at least agreed to the cry call of Captain Henry maybe we would have had a milder loss. Their guns could kill the damn demons. The flock wasn't that deadly not to be brought down by the regular Dark Weapons they had." Kelvin stared at Henry's dead body and tears streaked down his cheek.

He squatted lowly to look at him. His hands greased over his body and he felt a cold whimper arouse within him as he did so.

"You died a memorable death but for one who had led all these men I still think you needed more life on earth. You...you should not have died like that." Kelvin muttered in emotional pain. He broke down in tears and sobbed seriously.

"Commander Kelvin!! We came across a boy in dying need of help. He is bleeding profusely and will die any moment. We need to take him to the Medical Zone. I could have done that but I needed to notify you of my whereabout." a young soldier exclaimed in submission.

Kelvin smiled and rubbed his hands over his eyes. Then he turned to stare at the soldier. His glare was extremely deadly and scary. The young soldier didn't move or break a sweat at his sight.

"I hear a word about those damn things and I'll kill you!! Now report back to duty!!" Kelvin thundered.

"But sir he managed to–" he was cut shut by Kelvin's shaddy voice.

"Managed to do what!? Huh? You think this is all a joke right? How many men died on account of protecting the humans from the demons and this is what we are paid vack with."

"I was just saying that if he was outside then he acknowledged–"

"I hear a word again from you and I will not hesitate to blow your brains to nothing but shit!!'' Kelvin snapped and held the trigger of his gun and tilted it towards the face of the young soldier.

"OK then." he muttered and gave a slight bow before leaving but Kelvin called him back.

"Stay here and get this mess out of here."

Kelvin said and gestured towards the pile of corpses on the ground. The young soldier gritted his teeth and obediently walked back to carry out the order.

Kelvin carried the corpse of Henry over his soldier and walked away in slow heavy steps. His muscles strained under the weight of the Captain but this was going to be his tribute to his friend.

Xero sat on the ground in pain. His legs were brutally injured and he found it impossible to move. His mind raced for some seconds trying to carve out an escape plan back into the Safe Zone.

"Damn it. After struggling to get here, I get stacked here with this damn ugly things!!'' Xero exclaimed in anger as he stared at two demons lurking in front if him.

"And to think that these guns are nothing but fake as bullshit. I tried firing those damn things more than six times but the bullets either didn't penetrate or I missed the weak spot." Xero grinned in pain.

"To expect that my sudden found power just got a little fuzzy. Why they hell couldn't I control time again!?'' Xero muttered to himself.

Then he quickly shifted his gaze and noticed that a demon was already coming towards him but he rolled away in time to escape death.

The jaws of the demon slammed each other with sheer power and might. Xero stared at it for a while.

"No. I guess the real question should be 'why did I ever have such a mysterious power?' I need to get information from my mum when I get home. For now, I think I should focus on getting back home alive."

Xero then crawled away. His arms struggled to pull the weight of his heavy legs. The fact that he was near death all because of his stubbornness made him think himself as a jerk.

"Mum seems to be hiding a lot from me. First I thought it was about the outside world but I think she had so many enemies or friends and wanted to break free from it." Xero muttered.

"I—" he muttered and then turned back.

A demon was already holding his right leg with extreme force. Xero struggled to free his leg quick enough not withstanding the fact that he was not in a shape to move the limbs.

"Fuck you!! I'm not dying in your hands!!'' Xero yelled at the top of his voice and tried to hit off the demon but the second one came at his hands.

Xero turned around and gasped at the demon. Its arms were stronger than his and there was no possille way for him to escape this nightmare.

He stared at the demon below him and turned left to strike the demon's head against the ground. The demon's head only cracked and he ended up regretting why he had ever ventured onto this damn cursed outside world.

"Is this how I'm gonna die!–" he turned and noticed that the demon below him had been sliced dead. He gasped in shock.

"What the... This isn't real. I didn't even see the movement." Just as he had spoken, the second demon was sliced into two. He gasped in shock and awe.

Then he saw the boots of the person kiss the floor. Before him was Horis staring strangely into his eyes. Xero stared at him immediately noting that he was a Dark Angel.

"Are you?... are you a Dark Angel?" Xero asked but Horis could only mutter.

"You...you seem familiar." Horis muttered. "Have we met before?"
