These past encounters fade like whispers, and though I have replayed them endlessly, I cannot seem to remember them clearly.
But even so…
"...Forgive me…" I whispered to Rumi, who looked as if she had just seen something utterly unpleasant.
I cannot blame her, she must have also seen a vision of herself inside these memories which once belonged to me.
Rumi's small hands were trembling, and her frosty aura kept flickering around her like a candle caught in the wind.
"...This… how can this be—"
Rumi's eyes shot toward my direction, and my half lidded eyes gazed back at her.
"...Irene, did you know?"
Such a strange question, but it was a valid one for her to ask.
I thought for a moment before answering, "I had a hunch."
It was true though, I actually had a doubt somewhere inside of me, and I kept on dismissing the very idea of it every single time the thought occurred to me.
