Chapter 201 - Chapter 201

Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 201

"But you have to make it yourself, and that's time-consuming. At least buying brownies is simple, you just pay for them and eat," Karlos explained, and the twins excitedly nodded their heads in agreement.

"...So you don't want me to bake, is that it? So my brownies aren't that good, is that what you're implying?" Maya's crimson eyes darkened as she stared coldly at Karlos.

He had messed up.

Even the children realized that they had made their mother mad, so they acted as if nothing had happened, making soft "gu gu ga ga" noises in the background.

"Babe, your brownies are the most delicious brownies I've ever eaten. No one in our neighborhood can match your skills," Karlos said, sweat breaking out across his back.

Maya smirked.

"You should be grateful that I love you."

"I'm always grateful. Marrying such a gorgeous woman as you is the best thing that ever happened to me. Maya, I love you so much."

Karlos declared his love loudly enough for a few onlookers to hear, causing a small scene in the snack aisle.

Maya blushed and let the matter drop.

"Well, if the twins want to try these brownies, we can buy a pack. But the twins must kiss me first," Maya teased her children.

"Mama!"

The twins immediately leaned in and kissed her cheeks.

"Wuv you, Mama," they said in unison.

Satisfied with her family's performance, Maya placed the brownies into the shopping cart before moving on to another aisle to pick out whatever else she wanted.

They headed over to the meat section next. They bought various cuts of meat, as meat-based dishes were the children's absolute favorite.

By the time they finished shopping, the cart was so full that the children had to make room by sitting right on top of the non-fragile groceries.

They watched as each item was scanned by a sensor that made sharp beeping noises. They also saw their mother hand over pieces of paper to pay for the items... Iñigo learned that day that paper could be exchanged for groceries. A week later, he tried using a plain piece of paper to buy biscuits at a small beachside store, but the owner just shrugged at the little boy... Iñigo was left thoroughly confused as to why it didn't work, but that is a story for another time.

Karlos loaded the boxes of groceries into the tricycle. Once everything was packed, the family headed back toward the beachside.

They thought today would be a great day. Maya was in a great mood after visiting the grocery store, while the children were excited to try the food they had bought. As for Karlos, as long as his family was happy, he was happy too.

However, right as they pulled up in front of their house, they spotted a middle-aged couple standing outside their gate.

"Hey! Karlos! Don't act like you can't hear me! I've been calling your name, yet you don't respond at all! You have no respect for your elders! Hah!" the middle-aged man shouted toward the house.

"Tch. You told me Karlos was living in a nipa hut kubo. Why does it look like he's doing so well?" the middle-aged woman asked her husband.

"I don't know! You should ask your son that question. He's the one who visited this place two years ago and said Karlos was dirt poor," Horrendo Alejandro snapped back at his wife.

"Are you blaming my son, you fat pig?" Fea Alejandro glared at her husband.

"Of course! Your son is a big liar."

The couple bickered right outside the gate. They had been standing there for about an hour, shouting Karlos's name repeatedly, but no one had answered.

The neighbors had already told them that Karlos and his family were out, but the couple hadn't cared.

Suddenly, a tricycle pulled up and honked, startling the pair. Fea lost her footing and tumbled onto her butt, shrieking in pain.

"Ah—!"

"Who dares hurt my wife!?"

"I do." Karlos stepped out of the tricycle and faced his uncle and aunt. Even though he had only had brief interactions with these people in the past, he remembered their faces clearly.

"Karlos! You bastard—!"

Horrendo lunged at Karlos, but received a solid kick to the stomach instead. He was furious that Karlos had made him wait and wanted to teach him a lesson, but ended up on the receiving end of one.

"Ugh!"

Karlos wasn't even done, he delivered a sharp slap that sent Horrendo stumbling. Karlos had been itching to teach these people a lesson for a long time.

"That's for stealing my savings," he said coldly.

Inside the tricycle, Maya quickly covered the children's eyes so they wouldn't witness the violence. Still, she had to admit she felt a deep sense of satisfaction watching Karlos handle his relatives. Karlos had told her all about them and how devious they were, and she hated them just as much.

"Ma, I can't see!" Arabella tried to pull Maya's hands away, but Maya held firm.

Iñigo was equally confused as to why their mother was covering their eyes and began to protest.

"Shh, we're playing a game. Try to keep your eyes closed as long as you can, and I'll give you a reward later."

"Wewards? Yay!" The twins promised to keep their eyes shut tight.

"Y-You!"

Fea was in shock after witnessing Karlos kick and slap his uncle.

"You have no respect for your elders!"

"I really don't care. Both sides made it clear long ago that we have nothing to do with each other. We are strangers. Who even told you I was living here?" Karlos frowned.

"Ungrateful brat!" Fea refused to explain. Her son had visited the area years ago without ever showing his face to Karlos, so Karlos was completely clueless as to how the couple had tracked him down.

"It doesn't matter. Leave this place now."

Karlos had no intention of entertaining them. He opened the gate, drove the tricycle inside the property, and parked.

"Is this how you act in front of your uncle?" Horrendo tried to push himself up, but his stomach was still aching fiercely. He glared at Karlos with burning hatred.

"I should ask you the same question. Is this how you act in front of your nephew?" Karlos didn't spare him another glance and led his family toward the house.

"Babe, take care of the kids. I have something to handle. Lock the door."

"Alright. Be careful," Maya said with a worried expression.
