But he never got the chance to speak with Ryan again.
Their final exams came around, and everyone was preparing to apply to their dream university. School grew busier by the day, and extra lessons gradually replaced extracurriculars. The seniors became a rare sight in the hallway and fields.
One afternoon in the hallway, on his way to the cafeteria, Carl happened to be walking behind Ryan and one of his friends. He hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but they were walking so close together that he couldn't help catching snippets.
"What uni do you want to attend?"
Carl leaned closer, waiting to hear the name.
When Ryan said it, Carl paused.
That was the university where his father worked.
His father and Ryan would even be in the same department. If Ryan got in, which he obviously would, since he was so smart, they would be in the same city. Ryan might even become his father's student.
Did that mean he could visit under the guise of seeing his dad?
