Chapter 136 - Dispatch 18: Departure - Part 1

[Alyssa Blair's Condo, Wichita, Kansas (April 30, 2023)]

"Man…time really does fly, doesn't it?" Alyssa Blair said with a smile as she sipped on her morning tea while standing next to her kitchen counter.

"Yeah, I guess it does." Cyrus replied after having just walked out of his room.

Just like the blonde had said, the last four weeks had gone by so fast that it was hard to believe that the month was almost over. Even now, as Alyssa watched her temporary house guest move around the condo as he got his things in order, she was beginning to wonder where all the time had gone. In just a few hours, Cyrus would be on his way back home to Charlotte. And she herself was probably back on her way to Washington, D.C. soon after, to get back to working for her Uncle.

'A shame that he's about to go back home so soon.' The tan-skinned blonde thought to herself as she took another sip of her drink. 'I'm still a bit pissed that I couldn't convince him to have a bit of fun with me before he left, though.'

Alyssa would be lying if she said that she wasn't more than a bit excited at the idea of having a cute guy staying with her for an extended period of time. And to be perfectly honest, she was initially very confident in her own abilities to seduce the young man while he was living under her roof. But alas, any and all attempts she had made to wrap Cyrus around her finger had ended in complete and total failure. Leaving her quite a bit annoyed that she couldn't accomplish her not-so-secret goal.

'Well…at least I got some good pictures of him for later.' The blonde woman thought to herself as she watched Cyrus walk through her living room without a shirt on before grabbing his shoes from next to the door.

There was no way in Hell that the 'tree magic' user didn't know what he was doing when he walked around the place half-naked like he was now. Flaunting a body like that around her had to be intentional. There was simply no other way that it could've made any sense. And with all those scars decorating the various parts of his body, it was almost impossible for Alyssa to look away whenever he put himself directly in her field of vision.

Yes, it was truly a shame that Cyrus would be leaving so soon. But…such is life. And there was nothing that the 'rose magic' user could do about it now without causing herself an unnecessary problem.

On the bright side, however, Alyssa knew that this wouldn't be the last time she and Cyrus would be seeing each other. The freckle-faced teen had done a wonderful job at befriending quite a few of her relatives while he had been down here. And she herself was already decently good friends with Elizabeth. So, at some point in the near future, they were going to cross paths again. And Alyssa Blair was going to make sure that she got what she wanted whenever that happened.

"So, when do we leave?" Cyrus then asked the 'rose magic' user after finally putting on a shirt.

"Huh?" Alyssa blinked before quickly coming to her senses. "Oh, we leave in about an hour. I know you said you wanted to go back to the bakery that Constanza took you to a couple of weeks ago before you left. So, I thought it would be a good idea for us to stop there before I had to drop you off."

Cyrus gave the woman a genuine smile after hearing that. "You don't have to do all that."

"I know." Alyssa returned the grin. "But you're still my guest after all. So, it's only right that I treat you one last time before you head back home."

"Well, thank you! I really appreciate it."

"Don't mention it."

Oh yeah, Alyssa was definitely going to need to step her game up if she wanted to secure her future prize. The guy was way too cool under pressure, even against her. But at the very least, she was going to make sure that he left here with a positive impression of her. Stuff like that goes a long way, at least according to her mother and uncle. And the 'rose magic' user was certain that it wouldn't be long before she got what she wanted.

'Just you wait, Tree Boy, I'll have you eating out of the palm of my hand soon enough.'

Unfortunately for the blonde-haired sorcerer, Cyrus was well aware of what she had been trying to do to him over the last month. But what she didn't know was that Elaine had ordered him to do his best to charm her while keeping himself just out of arm's reach. Why he needed to go through the trouble of doing all that, he had no clue. And to be honest, something like this was way out of his wheelhouse.

All he knew was that Elaine and Constanza had some sort of plan in the works regarding the 'rose magic' user. A plan that was apparently going to help them greatly with their future goals. And it was vital for him to ensure Alyssa believed that she could get what she wanted out of him to make sure that things went smoothly.

But in any case, Cyrus had accomplished everything that he needed to do while he was out here. His training was complete, his skills had improved, and he now had greater control over his magic than he had possessed before. So now, all there was left for him to do was to go back home and get back to business as usual.

'Man…I can't wait to get back!' The young 'tree magic' user thought to himself as his host handed him a cup of tea she had made. 'It's been forever since I've had some of my dad's cooking.'
