"Yup, it's me," the System replied, though he looked entirely unbothered, lying lazily across one of the sofas with his arms tucked behind his head.
"But I'm not actually the one you'll be talking to today."
"Then who?" Aaron asked, his eyes darting around the white expanse.
The day had been an exhausting spiral of tragedy and revelation, from being manipulated like a puppet to finding a glimmer of hope, and now this sudden mental summons.
"You won't be having a conversation with him. You will be having one with me," a third voice interrupted, coming from directly behind him.
It was cold, melodic, and hummed with a frequency that made Aaron's very marrow ache.
"And who the hell are you?" Aaron demanded, spinning around on his heel to face the newcomer.
To his utter shock, the third figure was yet another double, a third version of himself.
However, while the silhouette was identical, the eyes were hauntingly different.
