Cate took her seat at the front of the hall. It was some kind of throne but blacker than death. It oozed fear and despair enough to bring most humans to their knees. Cate waved her hand and a larger screen appeared in the hall. All the servants looked at the screen with their eyes glowing with rage. The last time someone attacked the wandering palace, the servants had failed to protect their masters. This attack now brought forward their guilt and self-blame.
Cate could see all these feelings moving through the many eyes. She sighed slightly.
"Who among you is willing to deal with these humans," she asked.
Ion was the leader of the servants. He was the Steward of the Wandering palace and so he stepped forward before anyone else even thought about making a move.
"I alone am enough," he said.
Cate tried to remember the last time she heard Ion speak. 'Is this the first time he has said a single word to me,' Cate wondered. She nodded at Ion with approval. Ion was some kind of undead. Even Cate was still not sure about what exactly this man was. The only thing Cate was sure of was that Ion was the most powerful of all the servants in the palace.
"I know that you can handle these few humans without any issues but just to be sure that nothing goes out of my calculations, I order you to lead everyone here to deal with the troublesome humans," Cate said.
"As the master commands," all the servants said at once. They all bowed with utmost respect before following Ion out of the grand hall.
Cate sat back and waited for the battle to begin. The humans were still attacking the barrier when the palace trembled slightly and all 300 servants appeared beneath the large structure. At the front was Ion, who had his head covered by some sort of helmet. It was black and appeared like the head of a demon.
"Kill them all," Ion said.
Aurelia was taken aback at so many supernatural creatures, but she did not relent. She stomped the earth and jumped into the sky. Aurelia then swung out her sword, releasing a beam of crimson light that cut through the world. All nearby buildings were cut into two as the beam moved towards the supernatural creatures.
Hmmmph.
Ion snorted as he reached out with his left hand, grabbing the beam of power with ease. He stopped it without moving a single inch from where he stood. The force from this interaction sent everything behind him flying into dust and debris. The force was simply far too great for these buildings to handle, and this was just the beginning of the battle.
"You seek nothing but an early death," Ion said before he threw the beam of power to the side, where it created a large crater in the earth.
The servants and the sacrifice warriors ran towards each other with some of them even flying into battle. The first collision was epic beyond compare.
Ion turned into a creature made up completely of darkness. It moved through the battlefield like the incarnation of death. His target was Aurelia, who was clearly the most powerful human in this place, but before he reached the woman, a sacrifice warrior wielding what appeared to be a halberd stepped into his path. The warrior swung the halberd to cut Ion into two. The halberd was a Votum covered in sacrifice power. It glowed with a brilliance that could cut through the ages. This warrior's power had to do with sharpness. It was said that his votum could cut through anything in the world. The halberd passed through Ion, cutting through his darkness with ease.
He smiled at the easy victory only to realize that this was his last moment on earth. Ion passed his hand through the man, ripping out his still-beating heart. He pulled his hand out, threw the heart to the side, before kicking the man with such terrible force that he was turned into a mist of blood.
Cate smiled at this as she took a sip of red wine.
Ion turned back into darkness and met Aurelia in battle. The two clashed with deadly force, each one wanting the other dead beyond doubt. Aurelia was pissed that Samson, one of her people, had just been killed. Ion was always angry and he now simply had a reason to bring this rage to bear. People died on each side with every passing minute and after just twenty minutes, the small city was reduced to nothing but ash and sand. Blood covered the ground and corpses could be seen strewn about everywhere.
Cate saw her people being killed, but she did nothing to interfere even though the wandering palace and all its many weapons were hers to control with a single thought.
Ion and Aurelia were still facing off, something that surprised Cate until she realized that Aurelia was using a Sacred Treasure on top of the power of her Votum. She created one illusion after another, forcing Ion to destroy tens of them before even reaching anywhere near her. She masterfully used the illusions to fend off the darkness controlled by Ion. It was clear that Ion was growing ever more enraged by the woman, and at this moment, he stopped attacking and looked at her with fury in his dead eyes.
"You things are more powerful and more numerous than what Avalon reported. I should have known that they would fuck us over. After all, there is no such thing as a good supernatural," Aurelia said.
"I do not care," Ion's response was simple and clear. He waved his hand, transforming all shadows on the battlefield into black spears.
"Die," he cried out with his hand pointed at Aurelia. The spears moved faster than the human eye could track and instantly pierced through Aurelia, turning her into an unwilling porcupine. She was covered in blood with her clothes ripped to pieces. She had more than a few holes in her—holes that allowed one to see through her with ease.
