Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A Humbling Lesson

Ten years later, Rynan Merryton is now 19 years old. At the corner of their house, a wooshing crackling sound can be heard. It was Rynan, still punching and kicking a homemade sandbag, with bulging muscles, heavily timed breathing at every movement to his strike, but his gaze was too focused with unbreakable determination of destroying what's in front of him. A gush of wind develops in every strike Rynan does. Body toned from training every day. A shout was heard at a distance, "SON! DINNER IS READY!" It was His mother calling his son just outside their house. Rynan did not reply and kept punching and kicking with unmatched focus and determination in his gaze in each strike with his hands and legs, as if he was imagining an imaginary enemy. His mother is worried and sad at the distance looking at his own son, this miserable and determined to destroy whoever cursed his own father.

Then his mother approached his son and called him with a sincere and saddened voice, "Uhmmm son?," Rynan glanced at his mother with blazing eyes that can pierce someone's soul from within, it scared her so much that her legs turned like noodles, weakened from the glance made by Rynan" So, he stopped punching the air frightened that he made his own mother fear him and her mother say's to her son with a trembling voice "Uhhhmm uhhh m...m..m...my s..ss...son... dinner i...i..is... ready." So, he wiped his sweat and then went straight inside their home to eat without talking to her mother. When they arrived at the table, the silence was palpable and eerie, scraping noise from plates, and Rynan was eating with a blank stare. "So, uhhhmm... how's your training son?" Rynan's mother asked first awkwardly. "Still... not... enough, need...more...training," Rynan replied coldly with a deep blazing anger seething inside his heart, her mother looking so sad, almost crying at Rynan, going through the pain of losing a father that he dearly loved so much. They continued eating, followed by eerie silence. The plates on the table are now empty; they had their fill. So, Rynan stood up and walked outside without talking to his mother as if she wasn't there at the table towards the corner to a sandbag, got near it, then swung a punch and again with a cold, blazing gaze at the air in front of him with unbreakable determination.

SWWWOOSHHHH! SWOOOOSHH! SWOOOSHH!

Training his martial arts again and from morning til night because of his father saying not to wield any swordthus he trained himself in hand to hand combat. After a few days, while Rynan was still punching the sandbag, a high-ranking noble saw Rynan shooting his arms like a gun with a cold stare, but could sense an intense desire and determination inside those very eyes, as if he was holding back all of that intense desire inside of his heart. When the high-ranking noble saw Rynan, he was impressed with his toned body from constantly practicing his martial arts. So, he approached Rynan and yelled, "HEEEYYY!!" but Rynan did not budge; he was in total concentration on every strike of his blade, ignoring any distraction that would distract him from practicing swordmanship. Because Rynan did not budge, the nobleman threw a wooden sword at Rynan, but Rynan sensed something was coming towards him. The body twitched in reaction, muscles moved, eyes focused, and by instinct alone, he blocked the incoming sword. Then (CRACK), he blocked the sword. The nobleman clapped at Rynan with his excellent instincts, but it wasn't over, so he tested Rynan's martial arts prowess. The nobleman says to Rynan, "Come at me, peasant. Strike me with that hands of yours." Rynan suddenly charged and struck the nobleman without question or introduction. He just struck a nobleman, but the nobleman is an experienced swordsman; he parried it with ease. "Is that all you can do?" said the nobleman mockingly. Rynan just keeps on swinging his hand, but the nobleman keeps blocking and parrying it with ease. Rynan is getting more irritated, he strikes more and then Rynan, his breathing is becoming heavier and heavier. The nobleman noticed this and struck with a feint which Rynan hadn't experienced before, caught him offguard and the nobleman struck Rynan's right on the knee and Rynan kneeled, looked at his callused hands, and looked back at the nobleman. Then, the nobleman says to Rynan in a calm and serious voice, "You have a long way to go, kid, but you have a good foundation in your martial arts skills. Explore the world, maybe try adventuring to improve your martial arts, and achieve whatever goal you want to achieve." Then Rynan, in the years he trained with a blank cold stare with an intense, blazing, determined heart, suddenly broke to tears, crying, remembering his father and he responded to the nobleman with a trembling voice, "Th...th..thank you, sir." While bowing to the nobleman. The nobleman just said to Rynan "ehhh, don't mention it. "
