Chapter 268 - Chapter 268: The Birth of Tenseigan

As the Hyuga main family elders offered up their eyes one by one, the Tenseigan seemed to be drawing ever closer to a true transformation—yet at the same time, that final breakthrough still felt impossibly far away.

When the last elder surrendered his eyes, the hidden chamber fell into a deathly silence.

"Clan Head… did it work…?"

After a long pause, one of the now-blind elders asked in a trembling voice.

"It's still just one step short…"

Hiashi stared at the massive Tenseigan in front of him, despair flickering in his eyes. In his vision, the eye had already turned sapphire blue everywhere except for one tiny point at its center—but that last tiny speck simply refused to change, as if it could never be worn away.

"Leave it to Neji."

"He'll come here. And if even I fail, then he'll take our place—he'll carry on for us, and for the Hyuga clan's ancestors."

Hiashi let out a weary sigh. But this outcome wasn't entirely unexpected.

After all, the Hyuga clan had been nurturing this Tenseigan for centuries. If it could have succeeded, it might have done so long ago. In the end, this had always been his own gamble—his own selfish hope that the entire clan could risk everything on one final attempt.

And now, it seemed he had lost that gamble.

As Hiashi reached toward his own Byakugan, and the final pair of eyes disappeared into the Tenseigan, the giant eye at last seemed to have gathered everything it needed. It began to undergo a miraculous change.

Its sapphire glow began rippling outward like water.

At first, those ripples only spread through the hidden chamber.

But as time passed, the Tenseigan's light spread beyond the chamber, enveloping the entire Hyuga compound—then pushing outward still farther, expanding across all of Konoha.

Even the moon overhead seemed to dim at that moment.

Or rather—there also seemed to be a brief flash of sapphire blue on the moon itself.

"What is that?"

The Anbu and Konoha Police Force shinobi still searching the village for possible enemies all turned toward the Hyuga compound. They could feel it—something terrifying was there.

"Quick! Report to the Third! Report to Lady Tsunade, Lord Chizumi, and Lord Jiraiya!"

One alert Anbu captain barked the order. He didn't know what was happening, but he knew this was already far beyond anything he could handle.

"So this is the light of the Tenseigan?"

"I can feel it… under this light, my Byakugan seems to be changing somehow…"

During this period, Neji had been staying close to Hinata and Hanabi. He didn't trust himself to leave his two "sisters" alone—one was too young, and the other was timid enough that he seriously wondered if she could even take care of herself.

"It feels so warm…"

Hinata's Byakugan opened on its own. She had no idea what was happening, but the light felt like her mother's embrace—so warm that her eyes began to well with tears.

"No…"

"No, this is wrong!"

"Why is the Tenseigan's light coming from the old Hyuga estate?"

"What did Father and the others do?"

Neji's expression changed wildly. Something felt terribly wrong. After all, he had only recently learned that the Otsutsuki on the moon once slaughtered Hyuga clan members in order to create the Tenseigan.

And now a Tenseigan had been born—from the Hyuga clan itself…

"Hinata, take care of Hanabi!"

Neji stopped thinking and immediately sprinted toward the Hyuga main estate.

And it wasn't just them. The birth of the Tenseigan had shaken all of Konoha.

At Naruto's home, he was still sleeping like the dead—but the Nine-Tails inside him was confused. It sensed something familiar, yet not quite familiar.

As for Sasuke, he was just about to go to sleep when he saw the sapphire-blue glow rising from the Hyuga estate.

"The Hyuga clan?"

Sasuke frowned in confusion. Weren't the Hyuga main family still all in prison?

How had the Hyuga managed to stir up something this massive without anyone noticing?

At Jiraiya's home—

"Old man, does this remind you of anything?"

Shima looked at the light radiating from the Tenseigan. She vaguely remembered that the Great Toad Sage had once spoken of something associated with sapphire-blue light, but she was simply too old to recall it clearly.

"The other Sage Eye!"

"The other Sage Eye, completely different from the Sage of Six Paths' Rinnegan—it's been born!"

Fukasaku frowned so hard his white brows nearly knotted together. His memory was better, and he had already recognized what that sapphire glow represented.

"The other Sage Eye?"

Jiraiya looked baffled as he listened to the two old toad sages.

"It's the Sage Eye of the Sage of Six Paths' younger brother. A terrifying eye even more dangerous than the Rinnegan—an eye capable of destroying the entire shinobi world with ease!"

"But why?"

"Why didn't the Great Toad Sage foresee something this important?"

Shima had finally remembered too. As she looked toward the Hyuga estate, her eyes were full of dread and fear. She still remembered the Great Toad Sage saying that the Sage Eye of the Sage of Six Paths' younger brother possessed enough power to split the planet in half.

"What in the world is the Hyuga clan doing?"

Inside the Hokage building, Hiruzen had only just received the Anbu report that Koharu Utatane was dead. Before he had even fully processed that blow, he saw the sapphire-blue light flaring from the Hyuga estate.

Instinctively, Hiruzen changed into combat gear and rushed toward the Hyuga compound.

"What kind of nonsense is the Hyuga clan pulling now?"

"Do they have any idea that staying up late is the mortal enemy of a woman my age?"

At her home, Tsunade kicked her front door to pieces in a fit of rage. Even while shouting, she was already moving toward the Hyuga estate without hesitation.

"So the Hyuga clan actually managed to create a Tenseigan?"

"How the hell did they do it?"

Uchiha Chizumi stood on the second floor of his house, staring at the distant Hyuga estate.

More than anyone else, he could sense it clearly: the Hyuga estate now held a terrifying power capable of wiping out the entire shinobi world.

Even his Susanoo felt small in front of that kind of force.

"I just hope it isn't what I think it is…"

Chizumi finished dressing. He knew some of the secrets behind the Tenseigan. He knew that the Tenseigan on the moon had been created by forcibly fusing together countless Byakugan.

He didn't know exactly how the Hyuga clan had created theirs—but the truth was probably no different.

And the birth of the Tenseigan didn't just alarm all of Konoha.

It also stirred someone on the moon.
