Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

Tension is already palpable in the village; it wasn't as bad before, but lately the other ninja villages have been behaving more intrusively in neighboring territories.

Previously, as months ago, Jitaiya had reported an invasion of Kusa by Iwa, which was underway, but thanks to Konoha's swift intervention, these rock ninjas yielded, at least temporarily, as they remain there, ready to act at any moment.

This prompted the Hokage to send more personnel to those areas to see what was happening and, if a conflict arose, to ensure there were enough ninjas to at least stop Iwa.

So far, they've remained passive, but I already have a hypothesis as to why they haven't acted yet. They're waiting for another village to make a move first.

If this is a waiting game, then Suna will surely be the first to act, since they're the ones who most need to win a war, especially against Konoha. From there, as soon as the spark ignites, everything will explode.

Luckily, in these situations, the old monkey can put down his crystal ball and stop staring at the women's section of the hot springs and get on with his job.

If this all comes to a head—and it will; no one doubts that—what's unknown is when. Everyone has an area to cover, or in this case, to command.

In this case, because of my power and abilities, I have two parts to cover.

Jiraiya is very good at gathering information and infiltrating places, but it's very dangerous to do all that alone; therefore, if a war breaks out, he and his team—that is, Minato, Kouske, and I—will gather data and, if possible, eliminate threats.

That's also why I have to be the vice-commander of the Suna region, since Jiraiya will form this unit periodically, under the pretext that he needs the four of us on the battlefield, or at least me.

Basically, our team will be formed and deployed in certain cases; otherwise, each member will be deployed in different locations.

On the Suna side, there were two options for commander since I declined for various reasons: Tsunade or Mitokado. Let's just say that if you have to choose between gold and poop, nobody's going to choose poop.

Besides, Tsunade didn't leave the village, so the Monkey didn't miss the opportunity and sent her as commander.

In response, she herself gave me the title of vice-commander, just to mess with me, but it makes sense, since my ninja skills aren't far behind hers.

Not to mention my ninja skills, having almost all five ninja affinities, only lacking wind, which, interestingly enough, the Suna people are experts in, so I don't really need to master this element of nature.

On the Iwa side, the Yamanaka, Akimichi, and Nara clans will be in charge as commanders; technically, Shikaku will lead the front.

On the front against Kumo, Orochimaru was going to be in charge as their commander.

On the front against Kiri, it was going to be shared by the Hyuga and Uchiha clans, with only ninjas from their clans going there, at least initially, since you know that as the war unfolds, this can change.

And if I'm honest, I'd like to go to Kiri to see if I can mark one of the Seven Swords of Mist. If I had to choose, I'd obviously mark Samehada, and as a second option, I'd take Shibuki.

Now you might be wondering why I'm saying all this. Well, simple: the Hokage already asked us to go to the Kumo border for a gathering mission.

I don't think this is the mission where Minato faces the future Fourth Raikage; I feel like it's too soon, but it's best not to get overconfident.

Now that I think about it, it'll be good to have mastered the lightning element, since I'll have to face lightning users.

Never mind. That said, before I leave, I have to talk to an old mummy, taking advantage of the fact that I still have three days to prepare.

...

I entered the base of the root, observing how the place had barely changed; in fact, Danzo's old man doesn't clean it. I see mold and grime from the dampness; I wouldn't be surprised if more ninjas died from disease than from missions.

When I reached the center of the root, Danzo was already there with his tools, kneeling before me, giving orders; obviously, he was quiet now that I had arrived.

"Uncle Danzo, it's been a long time," I said amicably with a smile and a wave.

"Miyu," he replied, looking at me with his usual serious expression.

"I'm surprised the old monkey hasn't given you any battlefronts; I imagine you want to be among the different fronts making your plans, what an opportunity, right?" I remarked as I leaned against one of the bridge railings where we were standing.

"What are you doing here, making fun of me?" he asked, more serious than usual.

Since we know that neither of the factions will give him even a shred of power over our man, neither Orochimaru nor Tsunade.

Since the former wants the Hokage position, he must command and hope things go well for him on his front. Spoiler: They didn't go very well; Minato had to face A and Killer Bee for a reason.

As for my mother, I know perfectly well that I hate the entire Konoha council, which is the Hokage and the three rats. One of these is Danzo.

"How did you know? Are you clairvoyant? Do you have an eye that sees the future under that eyepatch?" I mocked Danzo as I hovered around him.

"I don't recall giving you the license for such disrespect; I'm still your superior in Root," he said, annoyed.

"Really? I thought I'd lost my position when you started doing things behind my back and excluding me from your projects."

The silence in the room was deafening. I saw Danzo glaring at me, one eye almost red, as if he were about to awaken the Sharingan.

"You were spying on me and stealing information," it wasn't a question; it was a statement.

"Yes," I said simply while cleaning my nails.

It was obvious this was going to happen eventually.

Danzo knew about my movements, but he never said anything, since I knew almost all his dirty secrets, and it wasn't in his best interest for those things to come to light.

I was controlling almost half of the Land of Fire, and that went along with Danzo's ideas, but there was a problem: I was the one doing it, not him.

In his warped mind, only he could have the power to control this country and the others, whether in the shadows or in the light.

That has always been Danzo's dream: to be Hokage, to overthrow the other villages and make the Leaf Village the great one, with him as the ruler of everything.

The fact that I was acquiring what he couldn't have provoked resentment and envy toward me and my achievements. That's why he did things behind my back, like what happened in the laboratory. Danzo never warned me or told me it was him, but it's quite obvious that he did it with his tools. He must have some secret base where Orochimaru is conducting experiments even more horrific than the last one without my knowledge.

It all happened quite quickly, but being able to react to Mianto's attacks, I could clearly see everything that transpired. However, I didn't react or move, as I had my own countermeasures.

In front of me stood Danzo, holding a kunai inches from my neck. Around him, three of his own tools were pointed at my vital points, but surrounding them were other Root ninjas aiming at those who were threatening me and at Danzo himself.

He opened his eyes wide when he saw his own tools pointed at him, intent on killing him.

But there was a problem: those weren't his men; they were my men.

Half of them were from my clan and the Chinoiken; the other half were tools I had managed to get to betray Danzo and join my side.

"I underestimated you," Danzo declared, glaring with fury and rage.

I didn't answer him; I just moved while Danzo kept pointing at me but without doing anything since I knew that this old man valued his life more than anything and I knew that if he buried that kunai in my neck, it wouldn't kill me.

The only way to win was for him to kill me in one fell swoop, and no matter how much he walked around as if nothing was happening, my chakra was already coursing through my body, ready to perform any jutsu without hand seals.

"It's funny how your men end up betraying you," I said, looking him in the face, which was already about to turn completely red with rage and anger. "That this happens not only proves you'll be a bad Hokage, but that you're already a terrible leader, you old mummy."

He was going to retort with something stupid, but I didn't feel like talking to a bag of bones with shit for a brain.

"Number 0," I said, and Tool 0 appeared with several papers and scrolls alongside other Root ninjas.

"I brought everything you asked for, Miss Miyu," replied Number 0, now better known within the clan as Ken Senju.

Unlike Danzo, I knew and understood my little sisters, something I had to do if I wanted them to stop working for Danzo and not be completely devoted to me.

I gave them a purpose and meaning to their lives; they can't be mere machines that follow instructions.

Currently, I gave Number 0 a name and included him in the Senju clan, giving him an identity and the familiarity of a normal life, something all these tools need to grow and become more than they are capable of.

Ken Senju is one of my strongest and most loyal men, rivaling others like the former leader of the Chinoiken clan or the two brats I have working in the lawless zone.

This former tool is devoid of emotions; He's engaged to a member of the Chiokine clan with a baby on the way, so I don't think what he's doing is fake or that he'll betray me. That woman who seduced him is gradually helping him release his feelings and emotions.

The other five tools are experiencing the same thing to a certain degree, being incorporated into the Senju clan, some secretly because they were formerly members of other clans. If what I'm doing gets out, I'll be in serious trouble; luckily, only they and I know this, no one else.

I should also mention that I removed the tongue seals from everyone on my side, so if they want, they can reveal everything Danzo asked them to do.

I saw the blood in Danzo's eyes and how he was biting his lip, as the documents he had were top secret about things Danzo had done behind everyone's back.

This could even lead to the Daimyo ordering his execution. In addition to forbidden jutsu scrolls such as the long-awaited Summoning Jutsu: Impure World Reincarnation.

This wasn't the perfected version, since Kabuto was the one who achieved it, but it can't be that difficult to do, since this one had already been modified by Orochimaru.

Kabuto was a genius and a prodigy in biology and medical wrestling, but guess what? I am too, and I think I'm 100 times better than that idiot in those areas.

"Relax, you badly modified mummy; I don't plan on revealing anything that's here, since I know there must be a man involved in the experiments and all that nonsense," I said, imitating the old monkey in the last part, since I know he does this to maintain a clean image in people's eyes—nothing more.

In that sense, I pity Danzo, but only a little, because he deserves everything bad that happens to him and will happen to him, so you can't have compassion for an old man who orders brutal experiments on children under 5 years old. Not to mention other things.

"Besides, we're in times of war; we have to avoid a confrontation, but since I know how you operate, I'll have these things as backup: don't do anything to me or my people unless you want your little empire to fall, literally, since I have many explosive talismans hidden throughout the base."

Danzo didn't say anything to me; he even lowered the kunai he was holding against me, but if looks could kill, there would have been a million deaths by now.

You could say that my alliance with Danzo was over, with no possibility of reconciliation.

What a shame, and I wanted him to keep playing bass in my pop band.

"I'm taking my men with me too, since I'm afraid he might plant some kind of strange seal on them, so I'm signing off now," I told him as I packed all the documents into a backpack, just to rub it in his face that I had all that important information on him.

And so I left with several former Root agents who are now under my control, making Root even more mediocre in the process. I love happy endings.

(P.S. There's a part where it mentions that the Hokage wants Miyu on the front lines, implying that the others don't, and this is because it's better for Minato and Jiraiya to be helping between camps rather than on a specific front.)
