Gilbert couldn't explain why his chest tightened as he watched Cherry's trembling back.
He didn't mean to hurt her, not really. But after everything… after she slapped him, after she told him to stay away. Why should he chase after a woman who wanted nothing to do with him?
He looked away and stepped into his car. She wasn't worth it. But before he could shut the door,
"Mister Ace Carter! Miss Blaire fainted!" Liam's voice rang out.
When Cherry woke up, she found herself in a familiar room.
But when her mother's threats flashed through her mind, she bolted upright and rushed to the door.
Before she could open it, a tall figure blocked her way.
"Where are you going?" Gilbert asked coolly.
Cherry froze. She was in Gilbert Ace Carter's house.
Her lips trembled. "W-Why am I here? H-How long was I out?"
"You passed out. You've been asleep for two hours."
Relief flooded her chest. She still had time. Maybe her mother hadn't done anything yet.
