Fortunately, that fear turned out to be unnecessary.
Enel had no such intention at all.
On the contrary, Luffy's loud cheer made him even more pleased with himself, to the point he was already thinking about whether to unleash another strike just to show off.
But before he could act, his Mantra (Observation Haki) suddenly picked up something flying straight toward him.
When he focused, Enel's eyes narrowed in surprise.
A blond man in pure white attire was shooting toward his ship like a cannonball.
In the blink of an eye, the blond man landed above the deck. His cold, serpent-like blue eyes locked firmly onto Enel.
"To think I'd run into a Lightning-Logia user… What a surprise. That someone like you has gone completely unknown until now is beyond me."
Enel didn't know who the man was, but the fact he could immediately identify his Devil Fruit startled him slightly. A grin spread across his face.
"Oh? So you recognize the power of God as well?"
The blond scoffed, his voice laced with contempt.
"God? Don't make me laugh. You're nothing more than a fool who ate the Rumble-Rumble Fruit. And you dare call yourself a god? Pathetic."
For him, the very idea was ridiculous. That anyone would stand before him and claim divinity… it was an insult.
Enel's eyes flashed dangerously.
"You insolent Blue Sea dweller… You've succeeded in angering this god! And for that, you shall be judged!"
But the blond man only laughed harder, his voice booming across the deck.
"Ignorant brat. Remember this well—there are people in this world you can never afford to provoke. And I am one of them.
Since you're so desperate to die, I'll grant your wish."
His gaze sharpened like a blade.
"Listen closely! I am Guman (OC), Chief of CP. Don't you dare die without knowing whose hand struck you down!"
The instant he finished, Guman vanished. A fist, wrapped in Armament Haki crackling with violet lightning, came crashing toward Enel.
Caught off guard, Enel's heart leapt. But as a Logia user of lightning, his speed was monstrous.
With a thought, his body flashed into pure electricity, vanishing just as the blow exploded.
The punch detonated against empty air. The blast cracked like thunder, violent shockwaves rippling across the deck. Anything caught in the blast—buildings, machines, robots—was hurled away in an instant.
Yet when Guman's eyes fell on the small robots, which had merely been knocked aside without a scratch, his expression flickered.
What? Even steel should've been shattered to dust under that strike…
For the Chief of CP, who knew many of the world's hidden truths, realization struck. His gaze swept the shining hull beneath him.
Could this ship be made of…
But Enel's voice cut him off, dripping with disdain.
"Mortal. Was that pitiful display the extent of your power? If you think such tricks are enough to challenge a god, then prepare to be judged!"
With a dramatic flourish, he raised his arms.
"Heaven's Judgment: Twin Thunder Dragons!"
(…It had to be said: Enel was terrible at naming his attacks.)
Two colossal serpents of lightning, each dozens of meters long, burst from his back, twisting and coiling as they roared toward Guman.
But the CP Chief did not underestimate them. With a sharp step, he vanished, using Soru (Navy Six Style's Shave) to dodge, and in the same motion launched a counterattack, lunging like a tiger toward Enel's position.
BOOM!
Another devastating punch exploded forth.
Enel, a moment too slow, tried to rely on his element to slip away—but this fist, infused with Conqueror's Haki, tore through even Logia intangibility.
The blow connected squarely.
The crack echoed like a cannon. Enel was sent flying, blood coughing from his lips.
So strong…!
His organs felt like they had been rattled out of place. Wide-eyed in disbelief, he stared at the blond man who had called himself Guman.
Only now did he realize—the Blue Sea held monsters as well.
But…
Even knowing this, Enel would not bow his head.
"Kuh… So this is the strength of the Blue Sea's champions? Hah… Don't think for a second that will make this god surrender!"
His body dispersed into lightning once more, re-forming safely upon the silver ship. A grin twisted across his face.
"As long as I remain on this vessel… I am the undefeated god!"
At his words, the ship itself came alive. A surge of energy crackled through its body, lightning arcing across its metallic frame.
Feeling the electric charge underfoot, Guman's face darkened. He immediately launched himself upward with Geppo (Moonwalk) to escape.
But that was exactly what Enel wanted.
Now fully powered by the ship's energy, Enel's form swelled into a gigantic thunder deity. From his hands, he hurled spears of lightning one after another, each streaking like a jagged bolt toward Guman.
The sky filled with flashing thunder, leaving the CP Chief struggling to keep up.
Down below, aboard the Thousand Sunny, Usopp's keen eyes caught the spectacle.
"Huh? Hey—something's happening up there!"
The crew looked up in unison.
What they saw froze them in shock—an enormous lightning giant hurling thunderbolts across the heavens.
This was not the same Enel they remembered. His personality, his aura, his power—all had become something terrifying.
And if he was clashing with someone up there… who could possibly be fighting him?
But their speculation was cut short.
From the sea ahead, the next wave of enemy cannonfire roared. Hundreds of black shells arced overhead, the sky filled with thunderous explosions.
Though the Straw Hats had already destroyed dozens of warships, against a fleet of several hundred it was nothing more than a drop in the ocean.
As the bombardment poured down like rain, the Sunny pushed forward, guns blazing in return. Their counterattack diverted some of the fleet's fire, giving the allied ships behind them a chance to break through.
The ocean became an inferno of fire and steel.
Both sides bled heavily.
The World Government's fleet fought like rabid dogs, clamping down relentlessly on the allied forces.
This battle would not end without tragedy.
