Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Battle

The Minotaur's roar rattled the very air, its horns gleaming with deadly intent as it charged toward me. The earth trembled beneath its hooves, and a gust of wind blasted from its muscular form. The stench of blood and sweat filled the air as the beast's massive body surged toward me, faster than I expected.

Without a second thought, I braced myself. My fists clenched, and I steeled myself for the impact. I could feel the energy pulsing through my veins, ready to be unleashed. But was it enough? The Minotaur was no regular beast. This thing was a living monster, its strength and speed on an entirely different level than anything I had faced before.

It swung its colossal arm, aiming for my head. I darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the blow, but the wind from the Minotaur's strike still pushed me back. I staggered for a moment, regaining my balance, and then shot forward, my fists aimed for its ribcage.

Each punch I landed felt like striking stone. The Minotaur's tough, leathery hide absorbed my blows with little effect, but I didn't stop. I couldn't. The adrenaline coursing through my veins fueled my every movement. My muscles burned with the effort, but I ignored it. I had no choice but to keep fighting.

I dodged to the left, narrowly missing another swinging arm, and then I ducked under a massive hoof aimed at my head. My heart pounded in my chest, my breath coming out in ragged gasps, but my mind stayed sharp. The Minotaur was relentless, attacking without mercy, but I couldn't give in. Not now.

It was then that I realized something. I couldn't win like this.

I paused mid-air as the Minotaur let out a bellowing roar. The sheer size of its attacks and its overwhelming strength were too much to handle with just my fists. I needed more. I needed a weapon.

For a brief moment, I glanced around the battlefield, my mind searching for anything that could give me the edge. The heroes around me, still confused by my presence, were scattered. They were too afraid, too disoriented, or too injured to be of much use.

I needed to rely on myself.

There, lying half-buried under debris, was a large steel beam. My eyes locked onto it, and a plan started to form in my mind.

With a burst of speed, I sprinted towards the wreckage, dodging the Minotaur's sweeping attacks. The beast wasn't focused on me for a second, but I knew that would change soon. I reached the steel beam and yanked it free, the metal groaning in protest as I hefted it above my head.

My hands gripped the cold, jagged metal tightly, the weight of it grounding me. There was no turning back now.

I turned to face the Minotaur, who had already begun charging toward me again. The ground cracked under its heavy steps, but this time, I was ready. I swung the steel beam with everything I had, using the momentum of the Minotaur's charge to fuel my strike. The metal collided with the beast's shoulder, and a resounding crash echoed through the battlefield.

The Minotaur staggered back, clearly surprised by the force of the blow. I didn't waste the opportunity. I followed up with a series of quick jabs, smashing the beam into its face, targeting its weak spots. The Minotaur snarled, its eyes glowing with fury as it swung its fists to retaliate.

I barely dodged, rolling to the side as a massive hoof came crashing down where I had been standing just a second before. My heart raced. Each moment felt like a lifetime, the battle pushing me beyond my limits. I could feel the power within me, but it wasn't enough to overpower the beast.

I needed to keep moving.

The Minotaur's head snapped toward me, its bloodshot eyes locking onto mine. Its teeth bared in a predatory snarl. It was calculating. It was learning. This wasn't a mindless monster. It was a warrior, just like me. And it was beginning to adapt.

I threw the steel beam at the Minotaur's face, hoping to distract it, and while it reeled from the hit, I sprinted forward, my fists ready. I leapt into the air, aiming a devastating punch straight at the Minotaur's jaw.

The blow landed, but it wasn't enough. The beast barely flinched, its massive body towering over me as it grabbed my arm mid-strike, crushing it with a strength I could barely comprehend. My knees buckled under the pressure, and for a moment, I felt the crushing weight of its power.

"Damn it..." I muttered through gritted teeth.

The Minotaur roared, lifting me off the ground and tossing me aside like I was nothing. I crashed into a pile of rubble, my vision blurring for a moment. I tried to get up, but my limbs were heavy, my body screaming in protest.

But I couldn't stop. Not now.

I pushed myself to my feet, my breathing coming in ragged gasps. Blood trickled down my face, but I wiped it away with the back of my hand, steadying myself.

This was far from over.

The Minotaur slowly turned toward me, its eyes narrowing with clear hatred. It was ready for round two, and this time, it wasn't going to hold back.

I took a deep breath and focused. My mind sharpened, and every fiber of my being told me that if I didn't find a way to win soon, I would be the next casualty in this chaotic battle.

It wasn't just the Minotaur's strength I had to worry about. It was the growing number of heroes, scattered and demoralized, who couldn't even touch the beast. They were helpless.

But me? I wasn't helpless.

I couldn't afford to lose. I wasn't going to let anyone else die because I couldn't figure this out. Not when I had the power to fight.

The Minotaur let out another bellowing roar, and I steeled myself for the oncoming assault.

This fight was far from over.
