Chapter 70 - CHAPTER 70

My Nima mentality is broken!

In the room, Tsunayashiro Tokinada's face twitched.

As an ambitious man with vast plans, although he didn't particularly care for women, that did not mean he was interested in men.

You call me insane?

Back when he was not the head of the Tsunayashiro family, Tokinada had been forced into marriage by the family elders. He had no affection for that woman — a naive idealist who was obsessed with justice and life.

"You dead women, one or two, are truly disgusting," he muttered darkly.

Masaki's presence had triggered memories of Hikone's "mother," Uta Kuma. And then, memories of his past resurfaced.

Back then, he was a mere background character in the Tsunayashiro clan. He was not a candidate to inherit the family name at all. Yet he, along with Kyoraku Shunsui and Jūshirō Ukitake, entered the Shinō Academy in the same era, studying under Yamamoto Genryūsai himself.

During those academy years, he remained unnoticed. Not because of shyness, but because he simply hated everything—the world, the people in it, even himself.

The Tsunayashiro family, one of the original noble families, was tasked with chronicling the Soul Society's history. When he read the ancient stone tablets detailing the truth of the Soul King, he developed a deep revulsion for both his lineage and the world they ruled.

Four nobles?

He scoffed. More accurately, there had once been five.

At the birth of the worlds, five great noble houses had assaulted the creator, the original Soul King. They dismembered him—his limbs severed, his organs hollowed out. He was turned into a living keystone, forever immobilized within the Soul King Palace, existing only to stabilize the balance of the Three Realms.

One of those families was later expelled for treason, leaving only four. But it was all a grotesque farce. The noble houses weren't divine. They were parasites.

"I'm not into your brother," Tokinada said coldly, voice devoid of all pretense. "So don't give me that look or say those sickening things again."

"I'll only say this once. Next time, I will kill you."

His mask of politeness vanished. The real Tokinada—twisted, cruel, broken—emerged.

Masaki puffed her cheeks and pouted. "Pfft, like I'm afraid of you."

Kanbaru suddenly interjected: "Let me introduce you. This is my wife, Kurosaki Masaki."

Masaki: "???"

Tokinada: "???"

The mood whiplashed immediately.

"Wait, isn't she your sister?" Tokinada asked, squinting.

"Come on, you already know it's a joke. Don't waste time," Kanbaru said dryly. "You think you can kill her? Or capture me and Nilu as test subjects?"

He tilted his head, as if amused. "You really believe you're the only one who knows the truth about the Soul King?"

Tokinada paled. "You... you know the truth about the Soul King?"

The Soul King. The god-like being who supposedly created the Three Realms. Sealed away in the Soul King Palace, locked in a pocket dimension only accessible to the Royal Guard. His body broken, his consciousness gone.

But even that palace had vulnerabilities. Tokinada had discovered them. He had slipped through the cracks to witness the grotesque reality.

Daoyugen Awula's face tensed. Even Tokinada's loyal retainer, Miyamoto, showed subtle alarm. He had never been told what Tokinada truly sought. He had only followed the orders: abduct Shinigami, Rukongai souls, Quincy, and even Hollows for use in his sick experiments.

Kanbaru looked bored. "You keep spouting nonsense about the 'truth of the world' like it means anything."

Tokinada growled, "What do you know?! What is a god? That hollowed-out corpse in the palace? I am the real god!"

He rose dramatically, spreading his arms wide.

[Welcome to this episode of: "Don't Bully the Young and Poor," "Don't Bully the Middle-Aged and Poor," "Don't Bully the Old and Poor," and "As Long as You're Not Dead, You'll Rise Someday." Featuring the segment: "It's Not Me, It's the World That's Wrong."]

[No way. No one really wants to become the Soul King after seeing his true form, right?]

[This "creator god," the Soul King, was mutilated by the five founding noble families. Limbs cut. Organs gouged. Turned into a living, eternal anchor to balance the Three Realms. Immortal. Undying. A corpse god locked in eternal suffering.]

[Seriously, who would want that job?]

Masaki shivered behind Kanbaru. "This guy's unhinged."

Kanbaru nodded. "Mental instability confirmed."

"Mm. Kanbaru is always right," Nilu chimed in cheerfully.

Tokinada twitched.

Why did these fools dare mock him? Did they not understand who he was?

"You're a mess," Kanbaru added with a yawn. "No one here is afraid of you."

"Exactly. Now I can beat you up without guilt," Masaki declared.

The idea that Tokinada wanted to make Kanbaru an experimental subject enraged her.

You think you can lay a hand on my Kanbaru?

Tokinada trembled with fury.

"I hate you people," he whispered, before breaking into a wide, savage grin. "I've changed my mind."

"I'm going to kill you."

"Then use your bodies and powers to build something better. Bit by bit. Stitch by stitch."

"This is your fate."

He raised his arm.

"Do it. Kill them all!"
