The last darkness before dawn remained over the rift basin when the northern assault group began leaving the captured ridge. No horns announced the movement, and no large formation flared above the coalition positions. Armor shifted softly beneath cloaks, boots pressed against stone made damp by the cold morning air, and Celestara specialists checked the passive markers tied along their belts one last time before following Yueru and Ziyue toward the northern descent.
Farther south, Marephoros cultivators had already begun lowering themselves toward the old river valley. Ropes, narrow bridges, and platforms formed from controlled water and earth connected the higher ridge to the broken slope below. Yanfei stood near the first descent point with Yinxue and Shuyue, watching black mist move over the corrupted river while Veridian healers distributed the final anti-corruption pills to the mixed squads behind them.
The central legions remained along the western road.
Tianlan stood beside Xiangyin near the front defensive line while Ling'er, Xue'er, and Baiyun waited around him. Ling'er rested on the road with her damaged wing folded close to her body, while Xue'er occupied a lower wall where she could launch without forcing a steep climb. Baiyun remained above the command platform, though he held a shorter circuit than usual and returned to the same position after every turn.
A Veridian healer approached Ling'er first.
"Can she join the central fight?" Tianlan asked.
"Yes, but keep her near the western road."
"What happens if the wing tears again?"
"She may lose control before she reaches the ground. Do not send her into the basin unless the road is already secure."
Tianlan rested one hand against Ling'er's neck. "You stay near the ground formations."
Ling'er lowered her head, accepting the limit without taking her attention from the armies below.
The healer moved to Xue'er and checked the support around her shoulder. "She can make a few full attacks if she rests between them."
"How many?"
"Three or four, depending on how sharply she turns. Do not send her across the basin."
Xue'er clicked her beak.
Tianlan looked toward her. "Short attacks. Then you return."
The healer examined Baiyun last. The cut across his chest had closed enough that the medicinal cloth had been removed, but pale lines remained beneath the feathers where corruption and spatial force had damaged the inner channels.
"Can he take the highest position?" Tianlan asked.
"For observation. He may use Lightning and Space in short bursts, but he should not hold a large formation alone."
"What happens if he pushes too much power through the damaged channels?"
"They may split again."
Tianlan looked up at Baiyun. "You heard her."
Baiyun gave a calm call and descended onto the reinforced platform behind him.
Inside the Dao Palace of Creation, Xuanyin sat before the central command table with every battlefield channel open. Projection arrays showed the northern ridge, southern descent, central road, war engines along the basin walls, and the inner barrier beneath the rift. Liora stood near the recovery-room entrance with medicine prepared, but Xuanyin's posture remained steady and her voice showed no strain.
She contacted the northern group first.
"Are your markers in place?"
Yueru stood beside the first Celestara pair on a narrow shelf below the ridge. "The first three are stable. We cannot place the others until we enter the spatial field."
"How long will you need before attacking the anchor?"
"We do not know yet. The terrain is still changing."
"Do not guess. Report after you observe one full shift."
"I will."
Xuanyin moved to the southern channel. "Can the Marephoros squads hold the river?"
Shuyue looked down at the black current moving through the basin. "They can redirect the physical water. Yanfei still has to separate the corruption."
"Do you know where the Warden is?"
"It has remained beside the southern anchor since midnight."
"Has it moved?"
"No."
"Assume it is waiting for the first squad to enter the river."
Shuyue looked toward Yanfei and Yinxue. "We already do."
Xuanyin contacted the central front. "How long can the ridge barriers withstand the war engines?"
A Celestara commander examined the linked defensive markers. "Several direct strikes. Fewer if the Rift Marshal synchronizes them."
"How many engines can fire on the central road?"
"Seven without changing position. More if the northern platforms move."
Xuanyin shifted the reserve markers behind Tianlan's group. "Keep the first reserve out of sight until the Marshal commits its reinforcements."
Tianlan asked, "What if it attacks the ridge before the outer groups reach their anchors?"
"Hold the central road. Do not enter the inner barrier."
"What happens if one Warden comes with it?"
"I send reserves to you. The group assigned to that anchor continues toward the structure."
Xiangyin looked toward the armies gathering below. "What if both Wardens leave their positions?"
"Then both anchors are exposed. The outer groups do not chase."
Haotian stood near the center of the captured ridge with the Dao Palace of the Universe opened around his perception. He followed the three assault routes, strengthened the spatial connections between them, and placed stable points through which the Dao Palace of Creation could receive wounded cultivators without opening a broad gateway inside the basin.
The rift twisted above the central platform.
More Abyssal soldiers crossed through before the first light reached the eastern sky. They descended the inner roads in organized groups, joined formations around the central anchor, and turned toward the coalition positions above.
Xuanyin watched the growing numbers. "All groups hold until the dawn signal."
No one moved early.
The northern Celestara specialists continued watching the changing platforms. Yanfei tested the river with narrow threads of frostfire. Tianlan and Xiangyin inspected the central road while Ling'er, Xue'er, and Baiyun settled into their assigned positions.
When the eastern horizon brightened, Haotian raised one hand.
The Dao Palace of the Universe stabilized the three coalition routes.
Xuanyin gave the order. "Advance."
The northern and southern assault groups descended at the same time.
The central legions moved down the western road in layered mixed formations, shields and defensive techniques held forward while healers and command groups remained behind concealed positions. The Abyss responded before the first northern squad reached the spatial field.
The three anchors pulsed together.
The northern platforms shifted.
A broad section of black crystal rose from the basin floor and replaced the road in front of Yueru, while a stairway that had led downward turned and reappeared fifty feet above the group. The passive markers left along the route remained visible, but several now occupied locations that should not have existed beside one another.
The southern river rose.
Black water climbed the broken banks and flooded the lower road before the first Marephoros pair reached the basin floor. Corruption moved through it in thick bands, gathering around the southern anchor and the Warden standing near its base.
Along the western road, seven war engines fired together.
The first blast compressed the distance between the leading squads. Two separate twelve-member formations were pulled toward one another hard enough that their outer defenders nearly collided.
Celestara specialists released silver spatial lines between the squads and restored the original distance before the formations overlapped. Marephoros cultivators anchored the physical road beneath them while Pyrelith fighters braced their shields against the second attack.
Black crystal projectiles struck the front line.
The first shield cracked.
A Pyrelith cultivator shifted his stance, caught the next projectile on the reinforced edge, and redirected it into the basin wall. His partner stepped through the opening and broke the remaining fragments before they reached the Veridian healers behind them.
A third engine fired beneath the road.
Corruption channels opened under the central formation and moved toward the healer positions. Umbrel cultivators spread false shadows across the slope, hiding the real medical group while Veridian healers purified the first black threads that reached the surface.
Blue Sphere commanders directed the mixed squads along an older mountain road buried beneath the Abyssal fortifications. The route was narrower than the main descent, but it allowed the leading formations to avoid the section targeted by the largest engines.
The pressure of the rift entered the road behind them.
Soldiers felt the basin pulling at their bodies. Distance appeared to stretch between members of the same squad, while false memories of the ambush entered their thoughts and suggested that the northern and southern groups had already been surrounded.
Lianhua's lotus light spread through the central legions.
She did not erase the fear or tell the soldiers they had nothing to worry about. Courage steadied those who needed to advance, patience held the squad formations together, and restraint kept frightened fighters from releasing techniques before they had identified a target.
Yin–Yang separated genuine caution from the false certainty that defeat had already occurred. Space carried her protection through the changing distance, while Light revealed the emotional contamination moving through the central road.
A Blue Sphere squad leader tightened his grip around his weapon. "I thought the southern group was gone."
"They are still moving," Lianhua said.
"Are you sure?"
"I can feel Yanfei's frostfire below us."
The leader looked toward the southern basin and saw the first pale line spreading across the river. "Then we hold this road."
The Rift Marshal remained inside the inner barrier.
It watched the three coalition fronts and raised one hand toward the western descent. Two heavily armored captains stepped from the central formation and led an elite force up the road.
One carried a broad shield and a hooked sword. The second used a long black lance with spatial seams running along the shaft. Their soldiers moved in two interlocking formations, the shield captain controlling the road while the lancer shifted between positions along the walls.
Xuanyin saw the purpose immediately. "They want to pull the central reserve away from the western road."
Tianlan lowered his spear. "We will hold here."
The lancer vanished.
Baiyun called from above.
Tianlan felt the spatial shift through their bond and turned before the enemy appeared behind the front squad. The lancer thrust toward the Veridian healers, but Tianlan used Space to shorten his movement and placed his spear across the attack.
The impact traveled into his injured wrist.
Pain moved through the fracture binding, though the reinforced bracer held.
The lancer withdrew and vanished again.
Tianlan started after it.
Xuanyin's voice reached him through the command jade. "Do not leave the road."
"It is moving toward the northern side."
"Yueru and Ziyue have their own squads."
"What happens if it reaches them?"
"They will respond. Your responsibility is the center."
Tianlan stopped before crossing beyond Xiangyin's formation. "Understood."
The shield captain struck Xiangyin.
Its broad shield carried enough physical force to push the front mixed squad backward, while the hooked sword reached around the edge and tried to pull Xiangyin's spear out of line. Xiangyin used Wind to rotate the weapon away, Earth to hold the road, and Space to prevent the captain from shortening the distance further.
She attacked the captain's feet rather than the shield.
The first thrust forced it to change stance.
The second moved it toward a narrow section of road between two coalition barriers.
"Left side," Xiangyin told Tianlan.
Ling'er reinforced the ground behind them. Xue'er launched from the wall and crossed the captain's exposed left flank in a short burst of frost and flame. Baiyun held above the road, watching for the spatial lancer.
Tianlan waited.
The shield captain lifted its sword toward Xue'er.
Xiangyin struck the lower edge of the shield and forced the enemy's weight onto its rear leg. "Now."
Tianlan moved through the right side.
Lightning and Wind accelerated him, while Space changed his angle without crossing the ground Xiangyin had stabilized. His spear struck beneath the shield arm and drove the captain toward the outer wall.
The spatial lancer reappeared above him.
Baiyun descended and struck the lance shaft with both claws. Lightning flashed between the weapons, and the enemy's spatial technique shifted before the point could reach Tianlan's back.
The lancer vanished again.
Tianlan did not follow.
Xue'er froze the shield captain's rear foot while Ling'er closed the route behind it with Earth and Metal. Xiangyin pinned the hooked sword away from its body.
"Now," she said again.
Tianlan's second thrust entered through the same opening beneath the shield arm and crossed the captain's chest.
The enemy dropped the shield.
Xiangyin drove her spear into its hip and forced the body to turn, allowing Tianlan to withdraw before the hooked sword fell from the captain's hand.
The captain collapsed.
The spatial lancer attacked from the ridge wall, targeting Baiyun this time. It crossed the distance through a narrow tear in Space and drove the point toward the falcon's injured chest.
Baiyun shifted only enough to let the lance pass beneath one wing.
Tianlan saw the opening through their bond but remained inside the central formation.
The lancer expected him to rush upward.
Instead, Ling'er strengthened the wall beneath it, Xue'er struck from the side, and Baiyun used a short burst of Space to appear above the enemy's shoulder.
The lancer tried to vanish.
Celestara specialists locked the immediate spatial layer.
For one breath, the enemy remained in one position.
Xiangyin threw her spear.
The weapon crossed the road and pierced the lancer through the lower torso, pinning it against the black crystal wall.
Tianlan folded Space around his next step and reached the enemy before it could tear free. His spear entered beneath the collar of the armor and severed the core.
The lancer died against the wall.
Xiangyin recalled her spear through Space and caught it with her uninjured hand.
The elite formation lost both captains, but the Abyssal soldiers did not break immediately. Pyrelith cultivators met their heavy front while Umbrel pairs concealed the coalition's rotating squads. Blue Sphere commanders opened the buried mountain route farther down the road, allowing another legion to pass the blocked section without compressing the formations.
The central assault continued.
On the northern ridge, Yueru waited until the platforms completed their first full shift.
The passive markers moved with the terrain. Three remained physically stable, two exchanged positions, and one vanished beneath a black crystal surface before reappearing above the group.
Yueru followed the order.
"The field changes in three stages," she said. "The outer platforms exchange positions. The middle layer changes distance. The inner layer changes which surface owns the anchor law."
Ziyue stood on the edge of a platform that appeared to hang sideways over the basin. "Do you know where the real anchor is?"
"Not yet."
"Can I cross to the highest structure?"
"That may not be the highest structure after the next shift."
"How long do you need?"
"One more cycle."
Ziyue nodded and remained near the mixed squad rather than crossing alone.
The Northern Rift Warden moved before the second cycle finished.
It stood on the highest visible platform holding twin crescent blades. Pale seams ran through its armor, and several versions of its body appeared around the northern field. These were not ordinary illusions. Each occupied a different folded position, all connected to the same authority.
The Warden raised one blade.
A crescent cut entered the black crystal beside it.
The attack emerged beneath a mixed squad forty paces below.
Celestara specialists redirected part of the spatial route, but the cut still passed through the squad's outer defense. A Pyrelith cultivator lost part of his shield and suffered a deep wound across the chest, while a Veridian healer behind him was thrown against the platform edge.
Umbrel shadows caught the healer before she fell into the basin.
Yueru released spectral blades toward five visible positions of the Warden.
Three passed through empty folded space.
One struck armor and left a narrow cut.
The fifth entered a spatial seam and returned toward the coalition squad.
Yueru severed her own spectral blade before it reached them.
"The fourth position holds the body," she said.
The cut across the Warden's armor moved.
It slid along the pale spatial seam and disappeared between two platforms.
Ziyue launched.
Cloud and Wind Dao carried her across the shifting distance, while Lightning moved along her sword. The Warden changed positions with a lower platform before she arrived, but Ziyue abandoned the original destination and cut through the spatial surface beneath her feet.
She emerged from another angle.
Her sword struck the Warden's shoulder.
The wound opened, then moved into the empty distance between the platforms and vanished.
Ziyue landed on a narrow crystal path. "It is not healing."
"No," Yueru said. "It is storing the injury somewhere else."
"Can you find where?"
"Not while the platforms remain separate."
The Warden crossed its crescent blades.
Space folded between Yueru and Ziyue, extending the distance while shortening the route for the Abyssal soldiers defending the anchor. A group of demons crossed what appeared to be fifty paces in less than three steps and attacked the nearest mixed squad.
Umbrel cultivators filled the false distance with shadow. Celestara specialists placed new markers across the approaching formation, exposing the true route beneath the distortion.
Pyrelith fighters met the demons at the marked point rather than where they appeared to be.
Yueru released spectral blades through every confirmed route. Each one tested a different position while Ziyue kept the Warden moving from platform to platform.
The northern battle spread into the spatial field.
Along the southern ridge, Yanfei froze the first path through the corrupted river.
Ice formed beneath the surface rather than across it, trapping black essence inside narrow channels while allowing the physical water to move around the frozen route. Fire followed through the ice, consuming the corruption without releasing vapor into the mixed squads.
Marephoros cultivators redirected the clean water toward the western bank.
The river resisted.
Black strands reached from the deeper current and tried to pull the separated water back toward the southern anchor. Shuyue wrote restraint across the nearest bank, while Yinxue traced the hostile bonds beneath the riverbed.
"There are bodies below us," Yinxue said.
"How many?" Yanfei asked.
"I cannot count them through the corruption."
"Are they feeding the anchor?"
"Yes. They are not the only source."
Shuyue studied the law moving through the water. "The river is also drawing from the Abyssal soldiers standing along both banks."
A Marephoros commander asked, "Can we stop the physical flow?"
"Yes," Shuyue answered. "That will not stop the anchor."
"What do you need?"
"Keep the water away from the squads. Yanfei separates the corruption. Yinxue and I will find the remaining connections."
The southern Warden struck its staff against the riverbed.
A wall of black water rose across the basin.
Yanfei froze it before it reached the first mixed squad. The entire surface became dark ice, stretching from one bank to the other with corruption trapped inside.
The Warden drove the staff through the frozen wall.
Black law-script spread from the point of contact.
Shuyue raised one hand. "Do not break that ice."
Yanfei looked toward her. "Why?"
"The Warden claimed it when the staff touched it. If it shatters now, every piece will carry the law into the squads."
Yanfei withdrew the Lightning she had prepared.
The Warden emerged from the river.
Its upper body was broad and covered in heavy black armor, while the lower half remained connected to the current through thick strands of corruption. The staff in its hands was taller than its body and carried a ring of ritual characters around the head.
It struck the ice again.
The frozen wall turned toward the coalition.
Yanfei opened Space inside the structure and reversed the temperature along its center. Fire burned through the corruption trapped there, while Wind directed the released pressure upward. The ice weakened but remained whole because Shuyue had not yet removed the Warden's claim.
Yinxue moved along the riverbank.
Her Froststeel Sword Dao entered the water through narrow lines of Ice and Space, tracing the hostile bonds without cutting the bodies buried beneath the riverbed. The anchor drew power from several supply chambers, distant war engines, the Warden's body, and the sacrificed remains below.
"The anchor has four primary connections," she said.
Shuyue looked toward the staff. "The Warden's law makes the river part of the anchor. That allows every other connection to feed through the same territory."
Yanfei held the claimed ice in place. "Can you remove the law?"
"Yes, but I need to reach the staff or the anchor inscription."
The Warden lifted the frozen wall and threw it toward them.
Yanfei prevented it from breaking apart.
She moved the entire structure through Space and placed it against the southern bank, where the Marephoros cultivators reinforced the ground beneath it.
The Warden entered the opening.
Its staff swept toward Shuyue.
Yinxue intercepted the weapon with the Froststeel Sword. Metal and Ice reinforced the blade, while Space shortened the angle enough for her to catch the staff below the ritual head.
The collision threw her backward.
Yanfei released cold flame along the staff shaft, but the Warden turned the river beneath her into black chains. They wrapped around her legs and pulled toward the current.
Shuyue wrote truth across the first chain.
The false section dissolved.
The second carried the Warden's actual territorial law, so she bound it through restraint instead and stopped the pull long enough for Yanfei to burn through it.
The Warden struck the river again.
Physical water changed direction.
A broad current swept between the wives and their supporting squads, dividing the southern formation. Marephoros cultivators fought to redirect it, but the black essence mixed through the flow and resisted every physical channel they formed.
Veridian healers spread purification along the western group while the eastern squads moved onto higher black crystal ground.
Yanfei stepped into the river.
Frostfire spread from her feet in two directions. Ice trapped the corruption, Water separated the physical flow, Fire consumed the black essence inside the frozen sections, and Wind moved the released heat away from the divided squads.
The Warden forced more power through the anchor.
The river rose around Yanfei's waist.
Yin–Yang stabilized the opposing temperatures, while Space placed the cold and heat deeper into the current. Yanfei opened a path between the separated mixed squads without trying to freeze the entire river.
"Move through now," she ordered.
The southern squads crossed.
The Warden turned the staff toward them.
Shuyue reached the claimed ice on the southern bank and pressed law-script against the ritual characters spreading through it. The Warden's governing principle became clear.
Everything touched by the corrupted river belonged to the southern anchor.
That law claimed water, stone, bodies, weapons, and techniques equally. Anything entering the current could become part of the Warden's territory.
Shuyue wrote a narrow correction rather than attempting to overpower the entire formation.
"Water remains water."
The first line entered the claimed ice.
The Warden's law resisted.
"Corruption remains a hostile substance."
A second line separated the black essence from the physical river.
"Spiritual remains are not resources."
The third line reached the buried bodies.
"Living cultivators do not become property because the river touches them."
The law-script brightened.
The Warden struck the riverbed, trying to reinforce its claim through the anchor. Shuyue used Light to expose the false definitions inside the territorial law and Darkness to conceal the true lines of her correction until they reached the staff's authority.
The claimed ice cracked.
Yanfei looked toward her. "Can I break it?"
"Wait."
Shuyue followed the Warden's authority from the ice to the staff, then from the staff to the southern anchor. Space and Time revealed the order in which the territory had been defined.
She severed the first governing connection.
"Now."
Yanfei released Lightning through the frozen wall.
The ice shattered inward.
Because the Warden's claim had been removed, the fragments carried only trapped corruption. Cold flame consumed them before they reached the mixed squads.
The southern path opened.
Yinxue entered the river.
Frost spread around her steps, but her Sword Dao did not freeze the bodies beneath the riverbed or the clean water flowing around them. She followed the coerced bonds from the sacrifices toward the anchor and cut them one at a time.
The Dao of Love distinguished genuine spiritual attachments from the Abyssal ownership wrapped around them. Memories of families, sects, and companions remained intact while the hostile bonds shattered beneath the Froststeel Sword.
The Warden felt the first supply route break.
It abandoned the southern bank and charged Yinxue.
Yanfei intercepted.
Her frostfire barrier caught the staff near the ritual head, but the physical impact drove her several feet through the river. The Warden used the contact to claim the barrier, spreading territorial law through the ice and fire.
Shuyue severed the claim before it reached Yanfei's body.
Yinxue cut another buried connection.
The Warden's armor dimmed.
At the center of the basin, the Rift Marshal raised both hands.
The central anchor pulsed.
Northern platforms began shifting faster.
The southern river rose several feet in less than a breath, and four war engines turned away from the western road toward the wives.
Xuanyin watched the changing battlefield. "The Marshal is synchronizing both outer defenses."
A Celestara observer asked, "Do we pull one group back?"
"No. Increase pressure on the central barrier."
Tianlan heard the order. "Do you want us to enter?"
"No. Force the Marshal to defend the central road, but do not cross the barrier."
"What happens if it ignores us?"
"Destroy the war engines and cut off its reinforcement columns."
Tianlan looked toward the armies gathering between the central platform and outer anchors. "We can do that."
The central legions advanced farther down the western road.
Pyrelith fighters broke the first line of black crystal defenses. Celestara specialists prevented the expanding barrier from folding around the squads, while Umbrel shadows concealed the positions of the command groups and healers.
Lianhua extended lotus protection toward the southern front when the river's spiritual pressure increased. Her field did not cover every fighter equally, but it steadied the squads nearest Yanfei, Yinxue, and Shuyue long enough for the Veridian healers to hold their purification formations.
The Rift Marshal sent a reinforcement column from the inner platform.
More than a thousand soldiers divided into northern and southern formations, each led by armored officers carrying anchor-marked weapons. Their purpose was clear: overwhelm one outer assault group before either anchor fell.
Xuanyin moved the central reserve marker. "Tianlan, Xiangyin, stop the reinforcement column before it divides."
"How many squads?" Tianlan asked.
"Six central squads and the first reserve legion."
"Do the falcons remain with me?"
"Yes. Keep their movement short."
Tianlan raised his spear. "Advance."
The central mixed legions crossed the lower road beneath war-engine fire. Ling'er remained close to Lianhua and reinforced the physical ground whenever the central anchor shifted the slope. Xue'er made short attacks against the southern half of the reinforcement column, freezing feet and weapon joints before returning to the formation.
Baiyun climbed high enough to see the division points in the enemy formation. He used limited bursts of Space and Lightning to strike officers rather than maintaining a continuous aerial technique.
Xiangyin narrowed the road with Earth and Space, forcing the reinforcement column to compress before it could divide.
"They are trying to send the first half north," she said.
Tianlan looked toward the banner markings. "The rear officers control the southern formation."
"Then stop the front and let the mixed squads cut the rear."
Ling'er anchored the route behind the enemy. Xue'er attacked the exposed left flank, and Baiyun marked the lead officer through their bond.
Xiangyin fixed the officer's movement with three short spear thrusts.
Tianlan waited until she called.
"Now."
He changed angle through Space and struck beneath the officer's armor. Lightning entered the weapon arm, while Metal carried the spear through the defensive plate.
The officer fell.
The northern half of the column lost its forward command.
Blue Sphere commanders redirected two mixed squads into the opening. Pyrelith cultivators broke the remaining shield line, Marephoros pairs collapsed the road behind the column, and Umbrel fighters isolated the rear officers inside false shadows.
The southern reinforcement group attempted to bypass Tianlan's line along the river wall.
Xue'er intercepted with a short burst of frost and flame, then returned before the damaged shoulder weakened. Baiyun struck the leading standard from above and used Space only long enough to avoid the counterattack.
Tianlan and Xiangyin shifted together.
Xiangyin controlled the lower road.
Tianlan struck through the remaining escape route only after her signal.
The reinforcement column broke before reaching either outer assault group.
The Rift Marshal watched from within the barrier.
It did not send another column immediately.
On the northern front, the platform sequence changed before Yueru completed her spatial map.
The Northern Warden crossed both crescent blades and drew several black crystal surfaces inward. Roads, stairways, and platforms folded around the leading assault group.
Yueru felt the field close.
Ziyue changed direction through cloud movement, but the road behind her vanished before she could reach the outer squads. Two Celestara specialists and one complete mixed squad remained inside the folded region with them.
The rest of the northern assault group stood beyond a translucent spatial wall. Their images appeared at several angles, some above and others below, but no communication technique passed through clearly.
The Warden existed across six overlapping positions inside the field.
Yueru released spectral blades.
Every visible body defended.
One cut reached the real armor, but the wound slid into the empty distance between the folded platforms and disappeared.
Ziyue landed beside her. "Can you find the anchor?"
"Yes."
"Where is it?"
"Inside this field. The visible structure outside is only a shell."
"What do we need to do?"
"Forcing the Warden to one position is not enough. The platforms must share the same location when we strike."
"Can the Celestara pair collapse them?"
"Not while the anchor controls the field."
One Celestara specialist examined the shifting markers. "We can connect the platforms temporarily, but the Warden will separate them again."
Yueru watched the displaced wounds move through the spatial seams. "Then we force it to use every available location at the same time."
Ziyue looked toward the six Warden bodies. "How?"
"I do not know yet."
The Warden attacked.
Crescent cuts entered every platform and emerged around the trapped squad from different directions. Marephoros cultivators reinforced the physical surfaces, while Pyrelith fighters blocked the first attacks and Umbrel shadows concealed the healers.
Yueru and Ziyue moved to opposite sides of the folded field.
The northern battle had become more dangerous than Xuanyin could see from the command chamber. Only partial images reached her through the distortion.
"The northern group is trapped," a Celestara commander reported from outside the field.
"Can you open the barrier?"
"Not without damaging the people inside."
"Can you communicate with them?"
"Only brief signals."
Xuanyin moved the northern reserve closer but did not send it into the distortion. "Hold the outer field. Do not attack the visible anchor. It is a shell."
The Celestara commander looked toward the changing platforms. "How do you know?"
"Yueru marked the true anchor inside before the connection failed."
On the southern front, the three wives had nearly isolated the Warden from the river.
Marephoros cultivators redirected the clean physical water into two side channels. Yanfei trapped the remaining corruption inside frozen trenches and burned it with cold flame, while Shuyue continued removing the territorial law from each section.
Yinxue severed the distant war-engine links.
Two engines along the southern wall stopped firing.
The Warden's armor cracked.
It struck the staff into the riverbed and attempted to draw more power from the buried sacrifices, but Yinxue had already separated most of the spiritual remains from the anchor.
The Warden looked toward the southern structure.
Black strands connected its lower body to the anchor.
Yinxue saw the bond. "Its body is still part of the supply system."
Shuyue followed the law. "The Warden can transfer wounds into the anchor while that connection remains."
Yanfei stood inside a ring of frozen corruption. "Can you sever it?"
"Yes, but the Warden will attack whoever reaches the bond."
"Then let it attack me."
Yanfei moved first.
She released Wind and Lightning through the river path, closed the distance, and struck the Warden's staff with a frostfire-coated forearm. Ice formed inside the weapon through Space, while Fire burned along the outer ritual characters.
The Warden drove the staff downward.
The impact broke Yanfei's barrier and struck her left shoulder. Armor cracked, and pain spread through the joint as she was thrown into the shallow river.
Shuyue wrote restraint across the staff's shadow.
The Warden tried to pull the weapon free.
Yinxue entered from the opposite side and drove the Froststeel Sword toward the black strands connecting its body to the anchor.
The Warden sacrificed part of its armor.
Corruption plates folded around Yinxue's blade and trapped it before the cut reached the bond. The Warden turned its free hand toward her throat.
Shuyue changed the restraint script.
Rather than binding the Warden's body, she bound the broken armor holding Yinxue's sword. Truth revealed that the plates were no longer part of the living defense after being discarded.
The armor stopped moving.
Yinxue released Time through the sword and caught the moment before the discarded plates closed fully. Space widened the narrow opening.
She pulled the Froststeel Sword free.
Yanfei rose from the river with one arm held closer to her damaged shoulder. "Are you all right?"
"Yes."
"Can you reach the connection?"
"Not while it controls the staff."
Shuyue looked toward the weapon. "Then we remove its authority first."
The Warden released a roar and pulled the staff out of the shadow binding. The river behind it rose into several black arms, each carrying part of the southern anchor's law.
Shuyue wrote across the first.
"Water remains water."
The arm lost its shape and collapsed.
Yanfei froze the second from inside.
"Corruption remains hostile."
Shuyue's next script removed the territorial claim.
Lightning shattered the frozen limb.
A third arm reached toward Yinxue.
Yinxue severed the black essence from the spiritual remains trapped beneath it, and the arm lost the power supporting its form.
The Warden left the river.
Its lower body formed from dense corruption armor, revealing two heavy legs beneath the current. Without the river carrying its weight, its movements became faster and more direct.
It charged Shuyue.
Yanfei intercepted the staff.
Her injured shoulder weakened the first block, and the weapon drove her backward through the shallow water. She shifted Yin–Yang through the frostfire barrier, reversed cold and heat along the impact point, and forced the staff away before the Warden could crush her into the riverbed.
Yinxue attacked the exposed side.
The Froststeel Sword entered beneath the lower armor and opened a cut along the Warden's hip. The injury tried to move toward the southern anchor.
Shuyue bound the transfer law.
The wound remained.
The Warden turned toward her.
Shuyue stepped back behind a law-script barrier, but the staff broke through the first layer and struck her across the ribs. Her body left the ground and hit a black crystal bank hard enough to crack the surface behind her.
Yanfei attacked the Warden's back.
Frost entered the armor seams, Fire followed through the cracks, and Lightning split the weakened plates. The Warden twisted and caught her with one arm.
It threw her toward the river.
Yinxue used Space to change Yanfei's path before she struck the corrupted current. She landed on one of the purified ice routes instead.
Shuyue pushed herself upright, one hand pressed against her ribs. "It is targeting me because I am preventing the transfer."
Yanfei stood. "Stay farther back."
"If I move out of range, the wounds will enter the anchor."
"Then stay where I can reach you."
Yinxue looked toward the Warden's staff. "The weapon carries the territorial authority."
Shuyue nodded. "Break it after I remove the law."
Yanfei examined the Warden's stance. "I can freeze it from inside again."
"The Warden will expect that."
"Then Yinxue forces it to defend the body while I attack the weapon."
The three wives changed positions.
Yinxue moved first and attacked the Warden's chest through a precise Froststeel Sword path. Metal and Ice narrowed the strike, while Space shortened the final distance and Time delayed the Warden's reaction.
The Warden raised the staff to defend.
Yanfei opened a spatial point inside the weapon and released Ice.
The staff froze from the central core outward.
The Warden sent territorial law through the weapon and attempted to claim the ice.
Shuyue wrote truth across the ritual head.
"The river is no longer your territory."
The first law broke.
"The weapon does not own what it touches."
The second failed.
"The southern anchor has no authority over living cultivators."
The staff's ritual characters dimmed.
Yanfei closed her fist.
Fire ignited inside the frozen weapon.
The staff split along the center.
The Warden abandoned it and charged physically.
Yanfei created a narrow frostfire corridor around its movement. Ice hardened the route beneath its feet, while Fire closed the spaces beside it and prevented an easy turn.
Shuyue placed law-script over the remaining escape paths.
The Warden attempted to shift its core toward the southern anchor.
Yinxue used Time to catch the instant before the transfer.
Her Dao of Love followed the coercive connection binding the Warden to the structure. The bond did not contain genuine attachment, loyalty, or chosen purpose. It was an imposed conduit of ownership.
She severed it.
The Warden's body became separate from the southern anchor.
Yanfei changed the temperature around the armor.
Ice contracted the inner plates.
Fire expanded the outer shell.
Yin–Yang forced both changes to occur in a controlled cycle, while Lightning struck through the difference and fractured the armor from shoulder to waist.
The core appeared beneath the broken plates.
Yinxue moved through Space.
Her Froststeel Sword entered the exposed center.
The Warden tried to transfer its destruction into the river and anchor.
Shuyue's law-script closed around the core.
"No."
The transfer stopped.
Yinxue drove the sword deeper.
Frost spread through the core without entering the river or buried remains. Metal severed the inner structure, and Time prevented the Warden from shifting the damage to another moment.
The Southern Rift Warden collapsed.
Its body struck the purified ice route and remained there.
The river did not rise to reclaim it.
Yanfei released a long breath and held her injured shoulder. "The anchor is still active."
Shuyue looked toward the southern structure.
Power moved from the central anchor along a new connection, attempting to take control of the abandoned system.
Xuanyin saw the transfer. "The central anchor is trying to claim the southern structure."
"How long do we have?" Shuyue asked.
"Less than a minute before the connection stabilizes."
The southern mixed squads moved immediately.
Marephoros cultivators redirected the remaining physical water away from the anchor. Veridian healers spread purification across the assault formation while Umbrel shadows concealed the final approach from the war engines still firing along the basin wall.
Yanfei froze the feeding channels.
Cold flame burned through the black essence inside them.
Yinxue entered the riverbed and severed the final hostile bonds attached to the buried sacrifices and supply chambers. Shuyue reached the central law line and wrote a prohibition across it before the synchronization could become complete.
"The southern structure no longer belongs to the central anchor."
Celestara specialists closed the spatial transfer route.
Pyrelith cultivators struck the physical supports.
The first hammer blow cracked the outer shell.
The second broke one of the lower braces.
Blue Sphere fighters held the southern road against Abyssal reinforcements while the Pyrelith pair attacked again.
The southern anchor split.
Black power erupted upward.
Yanfei trapped the corruption in ice, Yinxue freed the remaining spiritual fragments, and Shuyue bound the collapsing law before it could attach itself to the river.
The anchor fell into the purified channel.
Across the basin, war engines powered through the river shut down. Others overloaded and began shaking on their platforms. The central barrier lost one of its outer layers, and the rift twisted violently as the northern and central anchors absorbed the full strain.
Haotian opened the Dao Palace of the Universe around the rift.
Space stabilized long enough to prevent the opening from expanding across the basin. The Dao Palace of Creation protected the nearby squads from the backlash while the remaining anchors adjusted.
The northern spatial field became more violent.
Inside the folded region, every platform shifted at once.
The Northern Warden's six positions became eight.
The unused distance carrying its displaced wounds tightened around the trapped group, and the true anchor drew more power from the central structure.
Yueru felt the change. "The southern anchor fell."
Ziyue looked toward the Warden. "That made this one stronger."
"Temporarily."
"Can we survive until it weakens?"
"Not by defending."
The Warden attacked through every visible position.
The trapped mixed squad held its formation while Celestara specialists tried to connect the platforms. Yueru and Ziyue crossed the folded field in opposite directions, testing routes and forcing the Warden to use more locations at once.
Outside the field, the northern assault group could no longer see them clearly.
Xuanyin marked the southern anchor as destroyed, then looked toward the broken northern projection.
"The northern group is trapped."
A front commander asked, "Where do you want the reserve?"
The Rift Marshal answered the question before Xuanyin did.
It stepped through the inner barrier.
The central anchor remained active behind it, synchronized directly with the pale spatial cracks across its armor. A long black halberd rested in one hand, its blade shaped around a narrow opening in Space rather than solid metal.
The Marshal raised the weapon.
The central armies began moving.
Thousands of Abyssal soldiers left the inner platform and advanced toward the western road. Some turned north, intending to reinforce the Warden's outer field. Others moved toward the southern ruins before Yanfei, Yinxue, and Shuyue could reorganize their injured squads.
The Marshal's main force continued directly toward Tianlan, Xiangyin, Lianhua, and the central legions.
Xiangyin looked toward the advancing commander. "Can we hold it?"
Tianlan studied the Marshal's armor, halberd, and the central anchor behind it. Ling'er remained near the western road with one wing limited, while Xue'er and Baiyun had already spent much of the power the healers allowed them to use.
"We have to keep it away from both roads," he said.
Xuanyin moved the first reserve marker onto the western descent.
"Do not try to defeat the Marshal yet," she ordered. "Hold the central line until the northern group escapes."
The front commander looked toward the damaged southern formation. "Do we send anyone to help the northern group?"
"If the Marshal breaks through the center, no reserve reaches them."
The central army advanced beneath the twisted rift.
Tianlan lowered his spear. Xiangyin moved beside him, while Lianhua expanded lotus light across the mixed legions forming behind the western barriers.
Ling'er planted herself near the road.
Xue'er took the right flank.
Baiyun climbed into the central observation height without using Lightning or Space.
Below them, the Rift Marshal crossed beyond the last protection of the inner barrier and led the Abyssal army toward the coalition.
The first anchor had fallen, but before its ruins stopped burning, the Rift Marshal entered the battlefield.
