Indianna looked at her reflection in the mirror and ran her fingers through her long dark hair. She was wearing a pair of ripped skinny jeans, a grey crop top, and her Timberlands. It was now Saturday evening, and she was getting ready with Brooke to go to the carnival.
Brooke seemed completely fine on the outside, but Indianna could tell that deep down, she was still struggling with everything that had happened. Greyson had pack members searching the town every hour of every day, but there was still no sign of the guy who had hurt Brooke or Rogue.
It was like they had disappeared.
They left no trace, no scent, and no trail.
It was infuriating.
"You look hot," Brooke smiled as she tied her long blonde hair into a high ponytail. She pulled on a pair of flats and straightened out her denim jacket. "Greyson is going to love it."
"Back at you," Indianna chuckled, grabbing her phone. "Ready?"
"Ready," Brooke nodded.
She linked her arm through Indianna's, and Indianna noticed how tightly Brooke held onto her. Almost like she was afraid that if she let go, she would lose her and be alone.
Indianna didn't say anything.
She understood.
The two girls made their way out of Indianna's room and down the stairs of the pack house.
The younger pack members who went to school were rushing around, trying to get ready for the carnival, but they all smiled and nodded at Indianna and Brooke as they passed.
Greyson, Harry, and the others were waiting in the kitchen for them.
Indianna couldn't help but look at Greyson when she saw him.
It amazed her how he could look so good in just a pair of jeans and a black T-shirt.
Thanks, Greyson chuckled through their mind-link.
Indianna immediately looked at him and realized he had caught her staring.
He smirked.
"Jeez, finally!" Kal exclaimed. "Why do girls take so freaking long to get ready?"
"We don't take that long," Brooke shrugged. "Boys just get ready too quickly."
She let go of Indianna's arm and walked over to Harry, immediately gripping his hand tightly.
"You ready?" Greyson asked Indianna.
He slipped his hand around her waist and pulled her closer to his chest. She snuggled further into him, loving the sparks she felt whenever he touched her, and nodded.
"Let's go," Indianna said.
The group made their way out of the pack house and climbed into the large seven-seater. Greyson drove, while Indianna sat in the passenger seat with everyone else behind them.
The drive to the school was short, and Indianna gasped when it came into sight.
Bright lights covered the usually dull building, and she could hear music pounding in the distance. It was dark outside, so the colourful lights nearly blinded her because of how bright they were.
They walked around to the back fields, and Indianna grinned when she saw everything.
The area was covered with rides, roller coasters, sweet stalls, game stalls, and everything she had never experienced before.
Fun.
There were people everywhere, all grinning, laughing, and having the time of their lives.
Greyson looked down at Indianna and instantly sensed her excitement.
"You're such a child," he chuckled, shaking his head.
"Shut up," Indianna defended herself. "I've never been to a carnival before."
She grabbed his hand.
"Can we explore?"
Greyson rolled his eyes, but he was smiling.
"Of course."
He turned to the others.
"We'll meet up later?"
"Sure," Kal nodded.
Brooke and Harry walked off together, leaving everyone else to split into pairs.
"Where do you want to go first?" Greyson asked, arching an eyebrow as Indianna's eyes scanned the rides in front of her.
"Big wheel?" she suggested with a sheepish grin.
Greyson chuckled.
"Let's go, sugar."
Together, the two of them made their way over to the big wheel. There was a small queue, but it didn't take long before they were seated inside a carriage and slowly making their way to the top.
Indianna looked at Greyson.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
She could hear the laughter and screams from the carnival below, but she blocked all the noise out and focused only on him.
She had never truly appreciated how beautiful he was.
"So..." she said after a while, breaking the comfortable silence.
"So," Greyson repeated with a chuckle. "You wanted to come on this shitty ride. Is it living up to your expectations?"
"It's not shitty," Indianna pouted. "You're just boring."
Greyson smirked and brushed a piece of hair away from her face.
"You're so cute," he murmured.
"Don't call me—"
"Shut up. You're adorable," Greyson interrupted, softly kissing her lips. "You know, I never liked the idea of mates before I met you."
"What do you mean?"
"I wanted to choose the girl I spent the rest of my life with, not have her forced upon me," Greyson shrugged, twisting a piece of Indianna's hair around his fingers. "But..." He smirked at her. "As soon as I saw you, I knew I wanted you. I wanted you with me. I wanted you to be mine."
"You were an ass when we first met."
"Aren't I still?"
"Yes," Indianna nodded. "I was shy when I first met you."
"You still are."
"Not around you," Indianna said, and Greyson smirked.
"Good," he said. "It means you trust me."
"How?"
"Because I'm such an amazing person," he said dryly.
Indianna rolled her eyes.
"No, why did I open up to you so quickly?"
"Because we're mates," Greyson said. "Or it could've been my amazing charm."
Indianna shoved his arm but smiled slightly.
"I never would've thought I'd willingly be sitting on a ride alone with you," she admitted. "I never thought I would actually like you."
"I knew you would," Greyson said cockily.
"You're a complete asshole," Indianna sighed. "But... I can't help but like you, Greyson. I really like you."
Greyson smirked.
"Do you have a crush on me, sugar?" he teased.
"And this is why you make me wish I hated you," Indianna muttered.
"You could never hate me," Greyson laughed.
"I was trying to be sincere, and you completely ruined the moment," Indianna said, rolling her eyes.
Greyson laughed.
"Sorry," he said softly, cupping her cheek. "Are you happy that you're my mate?" he asked seriously.
Indianna looked into Greyson's dark eyes and nodded.
"Every fibre in my body wants you, and you're annoyingly growing on me. So yes, I think I am. I can't change the way I feel about you."
"Neither can I," Greyson said quietly. "Whenever I see you, you make me feel complete. Just seeing you smile makes me happy. I really care about you, sugar."
"Who knew you could be sincere?" Indianna teased.
"Now look who's ruining it," Greyson muttered.
Indianna grinned.
"Indie, you're perfect," Greyson said softly. "You have such a kind heart, and I know you're going to be an amazing Luna. I couldn't think of anyone more perfect to spend my life with."
His lips brushed against hers, and she smiled softly.
"I am pretty sick."
Greyson rolled his eyes.
"Now look who's ruining the moment."
He pulled her closer, and Indianna laughed softly.
For once, everything felt perfect.
Until...
A loud ringtone interrupted them.
Greyson growled as he pulled away and checked his phone.
"Fucking Kal," he cursed.
Indianna looked at the message.
'Don't forget the condom, kiddies.'
Her cheeks immediately turned red, but she couldn't stop herself from laughing.
She looked out of the carriage and saw Ace, Kal, Harry, and Brooke standing beside a stall.
They had a perfect view of them.
"I'll kill him one day," Greyson muttered.
He wrapped his arm around Indianna's shoulders and pulled her closer.
"When he least fucking expects it."
