Chapter 19 - A Glimpse and a Goodbye

The campus had never buzzed like this before.

"Did you see the notice board?"

"Wang Shuo's really here?"

"Wait… wasn't he Chi Cheng's ex?"

Students swarmed the corridors with whispers, glances, and theories that lit the campus ablaze. And somehow, every story ended up at the same point: Chi Cheng and Wang Shuo might be getting back together.

The news spread faster than wildfire.

Some thought it was exciting. Others said they looked perfect together.

But Wu Suo Wei?

He felt like the ground had been ripped from under him.

In His Room

Suo Wei sat on the edge of the bed, silent, fiddling with his bracelet the one Chi Cheng gave him two birthdays ago. His fingers were trembling.

Chi Cheng stood near the door, watching him.

"You've barely said a word since morning," he muttered.

Suo Wei didn't answer. His eyes stayed glued to the floor.

Chi Cheng sighed. "Are you mad?"

"No," Suo Wei said softly.

It was a lie.

He was hurt. Deeply. Because no matter how hard he tried, that day's whispers echoed in his head:

"They used to be a couple, right?"

"Maybe they'll rekindle things."

And Chi Cheng hadn't denied any of it.

They were engaged, yes – secretly. But they'd never called it love out loud.

Maybe… Chi Cheng had only done it out of duty.

Maybe Wang Shuo had been the real one all along.

The thought broke something inside him.

Later that Night

Campus was quieting down when Suo Wei stepped outside for air. He wandered aimlessly, hands shoved into his hoodie pocket.

And then–

He froze.

Across the courtyard, partially hidden by a tree-lined path near the old music building…

Chi Cheng.

Standing close.

With Wang Shuo.

They weren't touching, not exactly but they were too close. And when Wang Shuo leaned in, a hand brushing Chi Cheng's sleeve, it looked… intimate.

It looked like a moment before a kiss.

Suo Wei didn't wait to see more.

His heart thudded painfully as he turned and ran.

**The Bar**

"More beer," Suo Wei muttered.

Jiang Xiao Shuai, sitting beside him, grabbed the bottle. "Okay, that's enough. You've had three. You're crying."

"I'm not crying!" Suo Wei wailed, clearly crying.

"You called Chi Cheng a 'traitor' and tried to throw your phone in the toilet."

"I just… I just… don't wanna lose him!"

Guo Cheng Yu, who'd arrived moments earlier after a frantic text from Xiao Shuai, wrapped an arm around Suo Wei.

"Wei Wei, listen," he said gently. "Chi Cheng loves you. I know he does."

"He's gonna leave me," Suo Wei sniffled.

Both Xiao Shuai and Cheng Yu fell silent.

Guo Cheng Yu finally reached for his phone and typed something quickly.

A short message.

And a video clip.

Chi Cheng's Room

He sat at the edge of the bed, phone in hand, staring at the screen.

His inbox chimed.

Message from Cheng Yu: You better come. He's drunk. He thinks you're leaving him.

Attached: A short video.

Suo Wei's voice, slurred and raw, cracked through the silence:

"Tell him… I always believed in him. Even when it hurt."

Chi Cheng shot to his feet.

Without thinking.

Without shoes.

He ran.

Straight into the night.
