In an instant, the restaurant went quiet. That bounty alone already surpassed most of the people here.
There was nothing left to laugh about—if anyone laughed now, it would be like laughing at themselves.
The pirates present began to rack their brains, trying to recall just who this female pirate from the Davy Jones Pirates was.
But the fish-man restaurant owner hadn't finished reading. This time, he pulled out three bounty posters at once.
"'Umbrella Sky-Soarer' Mikita, crew member of the Davy Jones Pirates, bounty: 137 million Berries!"
"'Ghost Princess' Perona, crew member of the Davy Jones Pirates, bounty: 140 million Berries!"
"'Six-Blade Octopus' Hachi, crew member of the Davy Jones Pirates, bounty: 170 million Berries!"
Earlier the restaurant had fallen into silence—now everyone was dumbstruck.
What was going on with this Davy Jones Pirates? Three crew members in a row with bounties exceeding 100 million?
Inevitably, everyone's eyes shifted toward the so-called "Supernovas," Bege and Bonney.
And what were their bounties again?
Bonney and Bege's faces both darkened at the same time. Their bounties were only 140 million and 138 million Berries respectively…
They no longer looked impressive at all.
At that moment, the fish-man owner chuckled.
"Heh, you know what? That 'Six-Blade Octopus' Hachi was born right here on Fish-Man Island—out of the Fish-Man District, no less. Who would've thought he'd make such a name for himself now?"
He tapped the poster with his finger, the sound echoing softly—but no pirate dared to speak up.
Inside, the fish-man owner felt a surge of satisfaction. These past days, he'd had to watch as these humans acted recklessly on Fish-Man Island, even making trouble in his own restaurant. He had no strength to oppose them, so he'd swallowed his anger.
But now, with a Fish-Man from their island—Hachi—slapping them across the face with his bounty, how could he not feel pleased?
You boast about how great you are, yet you can't even compare to a Fish-Man pirate. What's there to be proud of?
Bonney's expression grew cold; her appetite was gone. She tossed aside her steak and asked,
"Are you done reading yet? If I recall, the Davy Jones Pirates have more members than this."
"Not yet," the fish-man owner answered with an awkward smile. He didn't dare openly confront Bonney. "I'll keep going."
He unfolded four more posters and read them out one after another.
"'Doctor of Death' Law, crew member of the Davy Jones Pirates, bounty: 220 million Berries!"
"'Schemer' Kuro, crew member of the Davy Jones Pirates, bounty: 226 million Berries!"
"'Iron Mace' Alvida, crew member of the Davy Jones Pirates, bounty: 240 million Berries!"
"'Thousand-Lie Clown' Buggy, crew member of the Davy Jones Pirates, bounty: 295 million Berries!"
Their titles had shifted somewhat, and notably, Alvida's bounty had surpassed Kuro's for the first time—because she had taken part in killing a Marine Headquarters Vice Admiral.
Buggy, however, had slipped down in ranking.
The atmosphere in the restaurant plummeted to freezing point. The pirates shifted uncomfortably, glancing at one another.
Four crew members with bounties over 200 million?
Even Doflamingo's Donquixote Family didn't have a lineup like this…
The crew roster was already beginning to rival that of a Yonko's.
Bonney and Bege's hearts tightened with dread. They remembered clearly: among the "Supernovas" of their generation, the highest bounty belonged to Kid—315 million.
But that "Thousand-Lie Clown" Buggy was already close to Kid's bounty.
What on earth was this Davy Jones Pirates? A crew full of monsters?
And yet the bounties weren't finished. The next one the fish-man read aloud far surpassed even the rest.
"'Desert Crocodile' Crocodile, former Warlord of the Sea, now crew member of the Davy Jones Pirates—bounty: 681 million Berries!"
Bonney and Bege's faces drained of color. Crocodile alone was worth more than two Kids combined.
But the other pirates felt somewhat numbed. Crocodile had once been a Warlord—of course his bounty would be this high after being reinstated.
Still, if even Crocodile's bounty was nearing 700 million, then what about their captain—the head of the Davy Jones Pirates, the "Deep Sea King"?
The fish-man owner revealed the answer at once. When he read it aloud, his own voice faltered, becoming sharp and raspy with disbelief.
"'Deep Sea King' Davy Jones, captain of the Davy Jones Pirates—bounty: 1.45 billion Berries!"
For a moment, the restaurant was utterly silent. Then the place exploded in chaos. Faces blanched, voices rose in frantic chatter.
That amount already surpassed the bounties of most Yonko's top commanders—a terrifying figure indeed.
The fish-man owner stared at the poster in his hands, feeling it burn hot against his fingers.
But then he remembered—the Davy Jones Pirates had never caused trouble on Fish-Man Island. They always paid properly, always recruited openly, always conducted themselves with order. Compared to the ruffians in his restaurant, they were worlds apart.
With Whitebeard dead, if Fish-Man Island had to choose a pirate crew to occupy it, wouldn't the Davy Jones Pirates be the best choice?
Their captain was a Fish-Man, their crew included Fish-Men, and their base was just outside Fish-Man Island in the Waterless Lands.
Surely they would take care of their own people, wouldn't they?
The thought sent chills through him, but when he looked around, no one was paying him any mind, and he finally exhaled in relief.
Meanwhile, taking advantage of the uproar, Bege had already led his gangsters out of the restaurant.
Standing at the roadside, he noticed the Fish-Men and merfolk around them all whispering about the same topic: the Davy Jones Pirates.
Bege narrowed his eyes, his face grim.
"Godfather," one of his men asked cautiously, "should we find another restaurant in the Noble District?"
Bege stood in silence, lost in thought, until at last he pulled out a cigar. Lighting it with his subordinate's flame, he inhaled deeply.
"No. Don't bother with the Noble District. Just buy some food—we'll eat back on the ship." He paused, then added, "Get our supplies ready. We set sail first thing tomorrow morning."
His men exchanged startled looks, but out of habit, they obeyed without question.
Bege puffed on his cigar, standing there for less than three minutes before he spotted Bonney leading her crew out of the restaurant as well.
The two crews met eyes briefly. Their captains looked at one another—then turned away.
This was not the time to start a fight.
As captains, Bonney and Bege were sharper than their crews—they could sense it.
Davy Jones's bounty had leapt from 450 million to 1.45 billion in one go.
There was no doubt he had done something in the Marineford War—something catastrophic.
But without information, without being able to enter Mary Geoise and witness the war firsthand, they could only speculate from outside.
Still, for the Marines to raise a bounty by a full billion without restraint… it could only mean something terrifying had happened.
The two Supernovas felt a chill run down their spines. They quickly split ways in the street, each hurrying to prepare for departure the next morning.
Within half a day, the new bounty posters of the Davy Jones Pirates had spread across all of Fish-Man Island.
The amounts shocked the residents beyond belief.
But this time, their feelings were different from before.
The last time, because of Madam Shyarly's prophecy and Hody's deliberate framing, they had only fear and anger toward the Davy Jones Pirates.
Now, there was no anger. Fear remained, but more than that—there was a secret, growing sense of anticipation.
Would Davy Jones do it?
Would he wipe out the pirate crews rampaging across Fish-Man Island, just like he destroyed the New Fish-Man Pirates?
