Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: “The Eclipsion Calling”

The night in Arcane Academy had fallen into its usual rhythm. The faint hum of mana lamps lined the corridors, the moonlight washing the marble walls in silver. But in one quiet, candle-lit room at the highest tower of the academy, a heavy silence lingered.

Inside sat Principal Alden, cross-legged upon a circle of glowing runes. His eyes were closed, his breathing steady, as mana pulsed gently through the floor. The walls flickered with symbols of light—ancient characters known only to those who had studied the earliest forms of Arcanian magic.

He was meditating. Searching. Listening.

Then—suddenly—his calm expression changed. His body stiffened as a surge of visions rushed through his mind like a storm.

---

A flash of light—

A vast island, shrouded in mist, surrounded by raging waves.

A field of broken ruins, glowing faintly with ancient energy.

A strange, echoing whisper: "Do not awaken it…"

And a presence… powerful, haunting, and old—so old that even Alden's vast wisdom trembled at its resonance.

His heart pounded. "That place… again…"

But before he could dive deeper into the vision, a blinding darkness flashed across his mind—a wall of mana energy blocking him from seeing further. His focus shattered.

"Gah—!"

He gasped, clutching his chest as the room fell silent once more. The symbols around him faded, the air heavy with static mana.

Just then, the door burst open. Professor Eldren entered swiftly, concern on his face. "Alden! What's wrong?"

Alden slowly steadied his breathing. "It seems… the world isn't giving us much time."

Eldren helped him up. "Another vision?"

Alden nodded gravely. "Yes. And not just any. I saw an island—far away, yet still within the realm of Arcania. There was a strange energy there… old, forbidden, and powerful. The same energy linked to the Ancient Magic."

Eldren's expression hardened. "Then it could be—"

Alden finished his sentence. "—the next target of the Dark Order."

A silence filled the room. Both men understood the weight of that realization.

Alden straightened, his gaze now resolute. "It's time, Eldren. Time for our next mission."

Eldren crossed his arms. "You mean… the first years?"

Alden gave a soft nod. "They've proven their strength at the Magic Carnival. Now it's time they learn what true discovery—and danger—really means."

The Next Morning – Academy Grounds

The sun rose over Arcane Academy, golden light spilling over the towers. The students gathered in the grand hall after receiving an urgent message from the principal himself.

Excited murmurs filled the air.

"What do you think it's about?"

"Another festival?"

"No way, the last one nearly killed us!"

Then, the massive double doors opened. Principal Alden walked in, followed by Professors Eldren, Kyle, and Mira. His expression was calm, but his eyes carried the weight of something important.

Eldren's voice boomed. "Everyone, silence!"

Instantly, the hall quieted.

Alden stepped forward, his cloak shimmering faintly in the mana-lit air. "My dear students… it's time for your next mission."

Show raised an eyebrow. "Mission?"

Karen whispered, "Oh no, that tone again…"

Alden smiled faintly. "Indeed. Your next objective is not within these walls—but beyond the heart of Arcania itself."

The room stirred with energy.

Raelyn leaned forward. "Where exactly, Principal Alden?"

Alden's tone deepened. "To a place once forgotten. A place where the ancients themselves left behind a legacy… and a curse. Your next mission will be on Eucliousis Island."

The name alone sent a ripple through the room. Even Eldren folded his arms grimly.

"Eucliousis…" he muttered. "That's not somewhere ordinary students are supposed to go."

Alden nodded. "Because it is not an ordinary island. Long ago, during the Era of Division, Eucliousis was once part of Arcania itself. But during the great War of Separation, it was cut off from our mainland."

The students leaned in, listening intently.

Alden continued, his voice carrying both history and dread. "It is said that the people of that land possessed a strange and dangerous power—. Legends say they could manipulate the core essence of mana itself. To protect the kingdom, the Arcanian forces waged war against them, isolating that territory forever. What remains now… is a cursed island filled with ancient ruins, storms, and whispers of a feared. And we didnt have any records of that."

The room went silent.

Show's flames flickered faintly around his arms, his instincts reacting. "And you think the Dark Order's after it?"

Alden looked at him solemnly. "Yes. The visions don't lie. I sensed their shadows there. The same dark aura that once surrounded Ignion Ruins."

Raelyn's eyes narrowed. "Then that means… it could be connected to the other Ancient Magics."

"Exactly." Alden nodded. "The ruins there are called the Eclipsion Ruins—a place where light and darkness are said to merge. If the Dark Order finds whatever sleeps there… they could awaken something beyond our control."

Show clenched his fists. "Then we can't let that happen."

Karen placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, just don't burn the whole island this time."

Show smirked. "No promises."

Laughter rippled lightly through the group, easing the tension for a moment. But then Alden raised his hand, his tone turning serious once more.

"This mission will test not just your power, but your unity. You'll go as a team—Show, Raelyn, Drake, Hibiki, Lyra, Lily, Karen, Lina, Cyrus, Criss, Akito, and Presto. Professor Eldren will lead the expedition. You'll leave tomorrow morning."

Raelyn looked thoughtful. "Principal, why us? Why the first years?"

Alden smiled knowingly. "Because destiny chose you, Raelyn. The energy I saw in my vision—it resonated with your magic. With both of your magic." He looked toward Show. "You two carry the legacy of something older than even this academy. And I believe… that's no coincidence."

Show exchanged glances with Raelyn. "Guess fate's dragging us into more trouble."

Raelyn shrugged. "At least we'll have backup this time."

Eldren's voice boomed. "Prepare yourselves. Once we arrive there, we have no idea what we'll face. Stay sharp, trust your allies, and keep your emotions under control."

Show smirked. "No promises there either."

Eldren glared. "What was that?"

"Nothing, sir!"

---

As the meeting ended, the students began to prepare for departure. The academy halls buzzed with activity—packing spells, enchanting cloaks, and summoning familiars.

Meanwhile, Alden stood near the window of his office, staring into the horizon. His expression was unreadable.

Professor Mira approached quietly. "You're worried."

Alden nodded. "Eucliousis… I felt something there. Something that didn't want to be found. When I tried to see further, something blocked me. It wasn't the Dark Order—it was… something else."

"Something else?" she asked softly.

He looked out at the horizon, the wind brushing his silver hair. "Yes. Something ancient. Something that protects that island."

---

Far Away – Eucliousis Island

The sea roared around the jagged cliffs. The air was thick with mana, and a pale mist rolled across the land. In the distance, the faint silhouette of the Eclipsion Ruins shimmered—a towering structure of obsidian stone, half-buried beneath the earth.

Deep within those ruins, the faint glow of a seal pulsed slowly.

Then… a voice.

Soft. Trembling. Echoing through the stone corridors.

> "Please… don't awaken me…"

The mana around the ruins flickered like dying embers—then vanished into silence.
