Chapter 4 - First Spirit Ring

"Luoluo…"

At that moment, Luo San Pao suddenly let out a roar. By now the sky was completely black, and faintly in the distance, more than ten moss-green points of light crept closer toward them.

"This is the Hell Wolf," Grandmaster's voice was low, but carried no alarm.

"You two, don't move from here."

Luo San Pao's mouth continued to call out luoluo, as if threatening the approaching presence. The wolves advanced slowly, their movements cautious, forming a half circle around Luo San Pao. The creature's scent seemed to make them uneasy, yet they pressed forward.

Grandmaster gave a cold snort, his eyes narrowing as he prepared to act.

"A pack of ten-year Hell Wolves dares to disturb us. San Pao!"

Luo San Pao let out a low howl, the sound like a storm's shriek. Its once plump belly expanded at an astonishing speed, swelling into what looked like a giant ball. Grandmaster raised his hand and waved it, and from his body a yellow spirit ring flew out, encircling Luo San Pao. His voice rang out with solemn intensity:

"Destroy with wind like thunder's strike, rumble the heavens and split the earth, Luo San Pao!"

Luo San Pao's clear blue eyes suddenly shone. The yellow ring of light centered on its body flared like a curtain of radiance. Its round body surged upward, leaping to a height of five meters. Its figure twisted in midair, and in an instant a deafening roar like thunder exploded.

At the same time, Grandmaster produced three gauze masks from his hand. He first handed them to Tang San and Kyle, then placed one over his own face.

"Quick, cover your noses!"

After that thunderous roar, the yellow light curtain suddenly burst forth like lightning, completely enveloping six Hell Wolves. Under Luo San Pao's attack, the six wolves were hurled away like torn sacks, crashing down more than ten meters away. Two of them slammed into tree trunks, howling miserably, unable to rise again. The others rolled on the ground for a moment before, after a brief whimpering, quickly fleeing.

Grandmaster, still vigilant, instructed them: "Wolves and dogs share a very similar body structure, the waist is their weakest vital point."

As he spoke, Grandmaster strode forward with large steps. At some point, he had drawn his short blade, and with swift precision, he cut the throats of the two Hell Wolves that could no longer move. He then scattered more of the special powder over their bodies, masking the scent of blood.

"Look, the spirit rings will soon appear."

At Grandmaster's reminder, Tang San and Kyle focused their attention. After the death of the two ten-year Hell Wolves, faint white rings of light slowly emerged from their bodies. The rings drifted like mist above them, as if they could vanish at any moment.

"This is a special method, using my soul power to draw the spirit ring toward my body. Immediately after, one begins meditation to absorb the energy of the spirit ring."

A faint purple glow rose from Grandmaster's hand, calling one of the spirit rings from the Hell Wolves. The ring floated over, circling around Grandmaster's body. But it did not merge.

"My soul power is not advanced enough right now, so the spirit ring cannot be absorbed by me. Within two hours, it will dissipate on its own. Little San, give me two white radishes."

"Oh."

Tang San fumbled at his waist, pulling out two white radishes from the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges and handed them to Grandmaster. Grandmaster swiftly tossed them toward Luo San Pao, who, after an excited luoluo cry, devoured both radishes in an instant.

"San Pao can rely on eating food to reduce the consumption of my soul power. But for only three attacks, each time one is used, he must immediately replenish."

"Does San Pao only eat white radishes?" Tang San asked.

Grandmaster looked at him with a trace of sadness and said: "You know, San Pao attacks by farting. White radishes are perfectly suited for him. Give him two radishes to replenish, and within an hour he'll be ready again."

"Luoluo. Luoluo, luoluo, luoluo…."

As the hurried call suddenly rose, the bitterness in the Grandmaster's eyes was instantly replaced by a cold gleam, and he pulled Tang San's hand. The surroundings abruptly fell silent, and a faint rustling sound reached Tang San's ears, indistinct yet clear.

The air seemed to carry a strange odor not strong, but tinged with a faint sweetness and the fragrance of tea. Tang San's nose twitched, and he unconsciously uttered:

"There's poison."

The Grandmaster's right hand waved, and this time two rings of light on his body truly moved to envelop Luo San Pao, his gaze wary as he looked toward the source of the rustling.

"Grandmaster, there."

Tang San pointed toward the location of the serpent's head. At this moment, it was too late for the Grandmaster to wonder how Tang San could see what his own eyes had yet to reach. With lightning speed, he drew a flare from the spirit tool on his wrist and hurled it in that direction.

Flames ignited in the wind, rolling and illuminating the area, and this time the Grandmaster too saw the serpent's head. His mouth drew in a sharp breath of cold air.

"That's a Mandrake Snake. Why would such a vicious creature appear on the outskirts of the Spirit Hunting Forest? Hopefully it's only ten years old. If it's a hundred years or more, we'll be in serious trouble."

As if angered by the flare, the serpent's head slowly rose, hissing toward Luo San Pao. Yet the realgar powder deterrent still lingered, and it did not advance. The Grandmaster spoke in a low voice:

"The Mandrake Snake's venom is extremely potent. It not only paralyzes, but also inflicts severe damage on the body's nerves. It is one of the most terrifying spirit beasts of the poison attribute."

"Its body is incredibly tough, difficult to wound with ordinary blades. Its mouth and eyes are the only weak points. But the Mandrake Snake is adept at constantly guarding those places, and its speed is astonishing."

From the serpent's head alone it was clear how venomous it was, and from the powerful surface of its neck it seemed that weakness was hard to find. There was no way to predict how a spirit beast of such strength would attack. The Grandmaster pulled Tang San and Kyle behind him.

"I will teach you a theory: the number of rings equals the number of bones, and vice versa. Xiao San, Kyle, prepare to run. I will tell you what a spirit bone is. If you have more spirit rings than your opponent, you can defeat them with spirit rings. If you have fewer run immediately."

"Shatter the wind like thunder's strike, roar of the heavens, split the earth, Luo San Pao!"

Having finished his explanation, the Grandmaster immediately commanded Luo San Pao to launch an attack. The yellow ring of light once again flared, and Luo San Pao's body shot upward with a frenzied inhalation.

Though it had eaten a white radish, and despite the earlier strike against the Hell Wolf, its body had not yet exhausted its reserves. So at this moment, it still had strength left for only two more attacks.

Amid the thunderous rumble, Luo San Pao's shockwave surged forth. Even though the Mandrake Snake's speed was astonishing, Luo San Pao's attack spread wide. If it tried to flee, it could not escape. The massive serpent's body was hurled from the ground, flung far into the distance.

"Run quickly."

The Grandmaster cast only a glance at the Mandrake Snake flying through the air and spoke.

"Before evolving into a thousand-year spirit beast, its body length increases by one centimeter each year. And this serpent, with its soaring body, is certainly over three meters long nearly four, so it can be said its cultivation has already surpassed four hundred years."

Tang San and Kyle were pulled aside by the Grandmaster to escape. Luo San Pao's shockwave had astonishingly failed to harm the Mandrake Snake at all, for just as its body was about to touch the ground, it instantly coiled and sprang back.

Each time its whip-like body struck the earth, it rebounded like a spring, its speed terrifyingly fast, relentlessly closing in on them and the Grandmaster. Luo San Pao's running speed was not slow, following closely behind, but in its large eyes panic was already evident.

"Shatter the wind like mist, lure into deep slumber, Luo San Pao!"

The Grandmaster shouted once more, and Luo San Pao spun around. With a puu sound, a mass of yellow gas spread into the air. From the Grandmaster's two spirit rings, the two effects he could bestow upon Luo San Pao were Shock Thunder and Enchantment.

At this moment, both were in full use. The Mandrake Snake swiftly leapt through the yellow mist, yet was not enchanted at all. Exceptionally gifted in poison, its resistance far surpassed that of similar spirit beasts; now it only slowed slightly.

Luo San Pao had exhausted all its abilities, its body greatly weakened, and feeding it radish now to replenish was already too late. The two spirit rings returned to the Grandmaster's body.

His entire figure shone with spirit power, his speed rising to the limit. Pulling Tang San and Kyle along, he leapt forward at full strength like a falling star, hoping to shake off the pursuing Mandrake Snake.

"The Mandrake Snake is extremely impatient, we only need to endure a little longer," the Grandmaster explained, speaking of its nature.

The Grandmaster waved both hands, and Luo San Pao's body immediately dissolved into violet light, merging back into him. Just as the Grandmaster was nearly in despair, even feeling the chilling breath of the Mandrake Snake upon him, he suddenly noticed a change in Tang San and Kyle, who were pulling at him.

Turning his head, he saw Kyle standing ready, eyes fixed on the Mandrake Snake, the Spear of Yang gripped in his right hand. Meanwhile, Tang San, using the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges at his waist, swiftly flicked something backward with his left hand without even turning his head.

A sturdy white radish flew out, and with a puu sound, struck the Mandrake Snake's body. The beast, which had been within range to launch a spirit beast attack, suddenly slowed, opening a small gap once more.

The Grandmaster was filled with astonishment. He saw Tang San's left hand continuously flicking between his waist and the air, each time hurling another radish behind them, one after another. Though the strength was not enough to injure the Mandrake Snake, whenever it was about to catch up, the barrage of radishes managed to obstruct its body.

Precise skill. The Grandmaster realized that each time Tang San threw a white radish, his left thumb always curled inward, palm facing down, while the other four fingers extended; the movement was short and efficient.

And though Tang San's young face showed a trace of worry, there was no fear. Even though twenty radishes were not few, the speed of Tang San's Arrow Hand was not slow, and in just moments the stock within the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges was exhausted.

They released the Grandmaster's hand. Kyle charged forward toward the Mandrake Snake, Spear of Yang gripped in his right hand, while Tang San's body rose in an instant. His left hand lifted, and the black tip silently radiated power.

The sleeve arrow he had painstakingly forged was finally put to use. At that moment, Tang San's eyes had turned completely violet; relying on the Purple Demon Eye, he could clearly see every movement of the Mandrake Snake.

The serpent's reaction was even faster than Tang San had imagined. As the sleeve arrow shot toward its left eye, he saw its body twist once in midair with lightning speed, its head dropping suddenly to evade danger.

Yet the arrow's speed was truly too great, and it still struck its body. With a crisp dang, sparks scattered across its hard scales. The sharp pain made it cry out once more with a strange guagua sound. Still, it could not truly wound the spirit beast's eye.

The Mandrake Snake was truly enraged, its scales beginning to shine, dark green scales now covered with a dim yellow glow. Its speed suddenly surged, and in practically a fraction of a second it lunged straight at Tang San.

As Tang San and Kyle suddenly let go, the Grandmaster had already moved more than ten meters ahead due to inertia. All of this happened within a split second, and now it was too late for him to save them.

The Mandrake Snake's mouth opened wide. Kyle stepped into a stance, left foot forward, right foot back. His left hand leaned forward like a shield, while the spear in his right hand was held behind.

At that moment, Kyle released his martial soul, Continent Turtle to block the Mandrake Snake's strike, forming two layers of defense.

"Six Realm Technique: Second Style: Lie Adsorption."

The turtle absorbed most of the impact, while Kyle himself took only a portion of the Mandrake Snake's attack. The force was immense, but it left Kyle with nothing more than minor scratches.

"Six Realm Technique: Second Style Strength Form: Lie Counter."

Then Kyle converted all the impact absorbed by his martial soul and himself into a knockback-type strike. The serpent's head was forced backward, and then—puu—a vast blue light seemed to appear out of nowhere, silently waiting there.

In the fraction of a second when the Mandrake Snake's head turned, just before its mouth could close—puu— The serpent's body, nearly four meters long, stiffened in that instant, as a sword thirty-nine centimeters in length was driven fully into its mouth.

For a moment, the Mandrake Snake's body convulsed violently, and immediately the ground erupted sand flying, stones scattering into the air. Wherever its hardened body swept, whether brush or small trees, all were tested as though against a tornado; branches and leaves snapped apart.

Driving the sword in with full force, Tang San retreated at maximum speed using Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, just far enough to avoid the Mandrake Snake's whipping tail.

"Little San. Little Kyle."

The Grandmaster urgently called out to Tang San and Kyle. With a deliberate shock beneath his feet, Tang San rolled to the ground, while Kyle dropped slightly to one knee. The Grandmaster stretched out his hand and pulled them close.

He was a rank twenty-nine spirit master, and though his spirit was somewhat lacking, he still possessed spirit power. Gazing at the Mandrake Snake in the throes of its terrifying destruction, the Grandmaster scolded:

"Why did you suddenly let go? Do you not realize how dangerous that was?"

In the darkness, the Grandmaster could only vaguely see Tang San's and Kyle's body falling backward, the short sword's blue light glimmering. Pulling Tang San and Kyle close, the Grandmaster also guessed that Kyle had halted the serpent's movement while Tang San struck with a sharp blow, very likely at a vital point. Otherwise, how could such a violent and vengeful spirit beast suddenly stop pursuing and attacking?

"Don't think this is over. Just wait and see. Serpents of the vitality category are extremely tenacious, they do not die easily."

Tang San panted heavily. Facing such a fearsome beast as the hundred-year Mandrake Snake, in that split second he had already exerted his full strength, while Kyle was slightly fatigued from overusing his power.

They stood, watching with utmost caution. The Mandrake Snake's hysterical struggle gradually subsided, its body twisting endlessly, destroying every plant in its path and exposing the soil beneath.

The short sword given to Tang San by the Grandmaster, though only thirty-nine centimeters long, was enough to pierce the Mandrake Snake's brain. It was a fatal wound.

As the serpent's thrashing grew weaker and weaker, the Grandmaster slowly exhaled. Along with this, the expression on his face gradually shifted the panic in his eyes giving way to wild joy.

"Excellent, truly excellent. Little San, you have obtained your spirit ring."

"Teacher, what are you saying? You can't mean this serpent, can you?"

Tang San looked at the Grandmaster in shock. The Grandmaster nodded seriously.

"Correct. This serpent has cultivated for about four hundred years. It is very close to the limit for a first spirit ring. With your innate full spirit power, absorbing its ring will pose no problem."

"But, Teacher… my spirit is a plant. Wouldn't that cause conflict?"

Kyle spoke hesitantly. Now that the Grandmaster was relaxed, his eyes shone with great confidence.

"A plant spirit does not always need to absorb the ring of a plant-type spirit beast, and a beast spirit is not necessarily unable to absorb a plant-type ring. Under certain conditions, the two can complement each other. Because you are still young and weak, the nature of any spirit ring added will not cause rejection, it will only assimilate passively. Therefore, absorbing the Mandrake Snake's spirit ring is not a problem. At the same time, do you still remember what kind of spirit ring we were seeking?"

Tang San's eyes lit up. "Adding toughness, and best of all, poison. Of course, the Mandrake Snake possesses both attributes."

The Grandmaster gazed sharply at his disciple and said: "Whether spirit masters agree or not, they are still colleagues of Spirit Hall. Regarding my ten core theories, they all scoffed and none believed. Until now, no spirit master has approved of absorbing different types of spirit rings to strengthen themselves. Little San, are you willing to try?"

"Although I have absolute confidence in the theory, no one has ever attempted it. Actual practice is the only standard to judge truth. The ten core spirit theories I proposed can only remain theories, not truth, precisely because no one has been willing to put them into practice."

In the Grandmaster's eyes, Tang San saw fanaticism. Because of his spirit's variation, the Grandmaster had never been able to become a powerful spirit master in his lifetime, yet he remained steadfast, pouring all his energy into spirit research. Toward such a person, respect welled up in Tang San's heart respect for the Grandmaster himself, and also for the fruits of his research.

"Brother San, I'm sure you're fine, so there's no need to worry."

"Very well. Teacher, please allow me to help you put it into practice. I believe your research cannot be wrong."

The Mandrake Snake's body was gradually growing still, the vital part of its head pierced by the sharp blade; even with its unyielding vitality, it was difficult to escape death. A faint yellow light began to gather upon the serpent's body.

Unlike previously seen the ten-year Hell Wolf's spirit ring, the ring emerging from the Mandrake Snake was markedly different, its radiance shone far brighter than that of the Hell Wolf's ring. Even without touching it, he could clearly sense the immense energy contained within. Hearing Tang San's words, the Grandmaster's eyes filled with gratitude.

"Little San, begin."

Tang San nodded, raising his right hand. The Blue Silver Grass sprouted from his palm, exuding a faint fragrance of life and swaying gently with the ripples of spirit power.

Drawn by the subtle blue radiance, the hundred-year Mandrake Snake's spirit ring slowly floated toward Tang San. The Grandmaster's eyes fixed intently on the hovering ring, and in a low voice he instructed:

"Cross your legs and sit upright. Focus your mind on your spirit."

Tang San obeyed, sitting cross-legged and concentrating on the spirit in his right hand. Very quickly, the yellow ring of light reached the crown of Tang San's head. Without giving him any chance to react, the yellow circle suddenly contracted, shrinking to the size of a bracelet, condensing into a solid golden ring that immediately descended to encircle the Blue Silver Grass spirit in his palm.

"No matter how the spirit ring's energy assaults your body, remember you must maintain absolute awareness. Only then, in the future, will you be able to better wield the energy of the spirit ring."

Changes began to occur in the Blue Silver Grass. The stalks, once sparse, grew longer and broader, their pale blue hue gradually deepening. The blades of grass shifted from light blue to dark azure, and upon their surface appeared faint black lines patterns identical to those on the Mandrake Snake's body.

Just as Tang San slowly opened his eyes, the sky had already brightened. A new day carried with it a surge of vitality, as though calling to his body.

Lowering his head to look at himself, Tang San discovered that his body, having gained the spirit ring, seemed to have changed as well. His once thin and small frame appeared slightly taller, his shoulders broader, and his skin now carried a sheen like polished jade.

"Teacher."

Upon regaining consciousness, Tang San's first thought was of the Grandmaster. He longed to tell him that the principle of spirit beast mimicry had succeeded. Throughout the entire fusion process, though he endured considerable suffering, there was no sense of conflict.

Just as his gaze found the Grandmaster, he saw him preparing breakfast, grilled fish. Around them, as before at their campsite, a circle of realgar powder surrounded them.

"You're awake. Little San, did you succeed?"

For the Grandmaster, his research theories were even more important than life itself. Tang San answered with a small smile:

"Teacher, rest assured. I succeeded. Look."

As he spoke, Tang San raised his right hand. A faint white glow shimmered across his skin, and from the center of his palm the deep-blue Blue Silver Grass unfurled. A distinct yellow spirit ring rose from his feet, circling his body as it floated up and down, the extraordinary mark of a spirit master's first ring.

Previously, the Blue Silver Grass blades were less than half a finger wide, but now they had grown to three fingers in breadth. The blades were several times thicker than before, etched with strange vein-like patterns. Ten strands of Blue Silver Grass spread outward with lightning speed, their tips raised like ten additional Mandrake Snakes hunting in every direction.

The Blue Silver Grass carried no scent of the Mandrake Snake, but instead exuded a faint aroma of tea an intoxicating fragrance laced with danger. Unable hiding excitement, Kyle look closer to Tang San's yellow ring

"It's so cool, congratulation on your first spirit ring, brother San."

In the Grandmaster's eyes flickered a deeply moved light, and with effort he restrained his excitement as he said:

"Good work. After this, we will conduct experiments and also find Kyle's first spirit ring," the Grandmaster said.

After finishing breakfast, they once again ventured deeper into the forest. At that moment, a pack of ten-year-old wolves approached them.

"Little Kyle, stay on guard. And Little San these can serve as material for experimenting with your first spirit ring."

"Yes, Teacher. Blue Silver Grass, Bind!"

Blue Silver Grass surged from the ground, suddenly wrapping around the pack of wolves with roots as thick as arms. Tang San pulled the roots back forcefully with his right hand, and the wolves were immediately flung backward. The Blue Silver Grass stretched perfectly, showing no sign of splitting.

"Good, this is truly excellent. It seems my judgment was correct. After the Blue Silver Grass absorbed the Mandrake Snake's spirit ring, it became tougher. Judging from the pack of wolves unable to move, we can assume it carries a paralyzing effect."

"The poison attribute cannot be considered very strong, but it clearly has a restricting function. And the Blue Silver Grass's ability Bind depends on the control of spirit power. Binding the enemy to halt them can render them immobile."

"What is called a control-system spirit master is precisely one who controls the opponent's actions. This binding ability is exactly that. With the added paralysis effect, unless the opponent is a spirit master with two rings surpassing you, they will not be able to break free from this binding. Little San, you have succeeded."

Speaking of spirits, the Grandmaster's eyes shone with fervor, his tone brimming with indescribable excitement. The greatest characteristic of the Blue Silver Grass's ability was its unpredictability. In Tang San's tests, within a range of fifty meters he could command the Blue Silver Grass to attack from any direction, impossible to guard against.

Especially within the forest, where vegetation was abundant, the Blue Silver Grass had even more cover to conceal itself. They had already reached an area close to the forest's interior. The silence there was unsettling, a sign that powerful creatures lurked nearby.

"This place is far too quiet. Stay alert. There may be a creature as strong as the Mandrake Snake we faced yesterday."

"Grrraaawwwlll…"

The roar came from a tiger watching them from afar. A white tiger with black stripes, nearly four meters long, slowly approached.

"That is a four-hundred-year Light Tiger. White tigers can create clones of themselves and possess light-type attacks. It perfectly matches the criteria for Kyle's Spear of Yang, which the best outcome would be to replicate the Spear of Yang. Of course, the Light Tiger possesses the attributes. Tang San, bind it with your spirit ring, then Kyle will strike with full force. I will assist you."

"Yes, Teacher," they replied in unison.

"Blue Silver Grass, Bind!"

The tiger's body was bound by the Blue Silver Grass. Yet before being restrained, it had already created a clone of itself. The duplicate tiger charged toward them, but its legs were quickly ensnared by the Blue Silver Grass.

The two tigers stood aligned in a straight line, making them easy targets for Kyle. Kyle lowered into his stance, bending his knees while gripping the spear tightly in his right hand. Just as the tiger was about to break free, the Grandmaster joined the assault.

"Shatter the wind like thunder striking, roar of the heavens, split the earth, Luo San Pao!"

"Shatter the wind like mist, lure into deep slumber, Luo San Pao!"

The Grandmaster's aid had a significant impact on the tiger. After preparing for some time, Kyle advanced, lunging forward with his spear while firmly rooted in his stance.

"Six Realm Technique: First Style: Truth Force Pierce!"

The tiger was left dying, while its clone vanished, destroyed by the full brunt of Kyle's strike. Kyle approached the weakened beast and thrust his spear into it. In its final moment, the tiger countered with a light spear attack, but Kyle narrowly evaded.

A faint yellow glow began to gather upon the Light Tiger's body. The spirit ring that emerged radiated brilliantly, just as the Mandrake Snake's had before.

"Little Kyle, begin."

Kyle nodded, raising his right hand. The Spear of Yang appeared in his palm. The hundred-year Light Tiger's spirit ring slowly floated toward him. The Grandmaster's eyes locked intently on the hovering ring, and in a low voice he instructed:

"Cross your legs and sit upright. Focus your mind on your spirit."

Kyle obeyed, sitting cross-legged and concentrating on the spirit in his right hand. Very quickly, the yellow ring of light reached the crown of Kyle's head. Without giving him any chance to react, the yellow circle suddenly contracted, shrinking to the size of a bracelet, condensing into a solid golden ring that immediately descended to encircle the Spear of Yang in his palm.

"No matter how the spirit ring's energy assaults your body, remember you must maintain absolute awareness. Only then, in the future, will you be able to better wield the energy of the spirit ring."

Changes began to occur in the Spear of Yang. The shaft of the spear now bore markings identical to those on the Light Tiger's body. Just as Kyle slowly opened his eyes, the sky had already brightened. A new day carried with it a surge of vitality, as though calling to his body.

His physique had changed somewhat after obtaining the spirit ring. He appeared taller, his skin gleamed with a jade-like luster, and his hair had grown slightly longer.

"Teacher."

Just as Kyle's gaze found the Grandmaster, he saw him preparing breakfast roasted rabbit. Around them, as before at their campsite, a circle of realgar powder surrounded them.

"You're awake. Kyle, did you succeed?"

"Teacher, rest assured. I succeeded. Look."

As he spoke, Kyle raised his right hand. A faint white glow shimmered across his skin, and from his palm appeared a white spear etched with tiger stripes. A distinct yellow spirit ring rose from his feet, circling his body as it floated up and down the extraordinary mark of a spirit master's first ring.

In the Grandmaster's eyes flickered a deeply moved light, and with effort he restrained his excitement as he said: "Excellent work. After this, we will conduct experiments and return to the academy."

After finishing breakfast, they began their journey back. On the way, a pack of ten-year-old wolves approached.

"Little San, stay alert. And Little Kyle these can serve as material for experimenting with your first spirit ring."

"Yes, Teacher. Spear of Yang, Infinite Spear of Light!"

A pair of spears appeared in Kyle's hands. Their brilliance dazzled in every direction except to their wielder. Kyle charged swiftly, cutting down the wolves in a single strike before they had any chance to evade.

"Good, this is truly excellent. It seems my judgment was correct. After the Spear of Yang absorbed the Light Tiger's spirit ring, judging from the pack of wolves unable to withstand it, we can assume it carries energy strong enough to prevent targets from healing themselves."

"What is called an attack-system spirit master is simply one who strikes with all their might. Little Kyle, you have succeeded. But what puzzles me is, why only two spears, when you called it the Infinite Spear of Light?"

"The number of spears produced depends on how many can be wielded. For now, only two light spears appear because I can only hold them in both hands. If in the future I gain the ability to control spears freely, then more spears will manifest."

"I see. It seems I must evaluate suitable spirit ring candidates for Xiao Kyle. For now, let us return to the academy."
