The young boy, eyes red with rage, grabbed a bookshelf off the desk and hurled it at him.
Luis dodged to the side, and Harvey Zhang, already beaten to a pulp, took the hit instead. He grunted and collapsed to the floor, unable to get up.
"Brother-in-law..."
Leah was terrified too. After a moment of stunned silence, she tried to rush in and help.
Though his sister-in-law was usually well-behaved, she was going through a rebellious phase and was the most restless one in the family.
She grabbed a pair of scissors from the table and lunged at the boy. Luis quickly wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her back, even as the boy grabbed a heavy book and slammed it into his back.
"Be good. Just call the police. Let your brother-in-law handle this."
"Don't cry now..."
He carried her outside the door and gave her a gentle, loving smile.
"Ah..."
Leah was so startled she forgot to cry. Her shriek of surprise drew attention from others.
