If a person has no hope from the start, there will be no disappointment.
After having hope, only then will one become disheartened in repeated disappointment and give up on oneself.
Upon waking, Serena Sullivan adjusted her heartbeat, even though her legs still lacked any sensation. She was prepared to spend her life in a wheelchair.
She wanted to cherish each day and live it well.
"Really?" He chuckled, "Your legs still have no sensation?"
"How about this, let the nurse take you for a check-up later."
"I had a full body check-up yesterday." Yet another check-up, and Serena was inwardly resistant.
"Not standing up isn't a big deal," she said, the smile on her lips fading, "I'm used to it."
Saying she's used to it, Serena placed her hands lightly rubbing on her legs.
She hadn't been able to stand for four years, and she always hoped they would regain sensation someday.
