At nine o'clock sharp the next morning, the phone in Li Jian's office rang on time.
He glanced at the caller ID—it was the provincial department's number, and he had some guesses in his mind.
After answering the call, the voice of Director Hou from the Provincial Department Homicide Investigation came through.
"Director Hou, long time no see,"
Li Jian picked up the receiver, his tone respectful yet warm.
"Your personal call must mean there's an important directive, isn't it?"
The other end of the phone brought a brisk laugh: "Mr Li, good to hear from you!"
"I've carefully read through the report on the recent solved case involving three deaths from your Jiang City Bureau, and it's written excellently, the investigation process is particularly commendable."
Director Hou paused, his tone becoming serious: "The Provincial Department has decided to organize a province-wide criminal investigation system video conference at nine o'clock tomorrow morning."
