Chapter 100 - All in vain

Just a day ago, Alfa had met with Michelle and got two news, one of which he already knew and one that literally made him hold on to the table tightly.

The first thing Michelle told him was Rodriguez was her mate. The second thing was that Arya and Rodriguez were siblings.

Yes, Arya's brother never died. He's alive and ruling the largest pack and holds the record for not only the youngest Alpha to rule a pack but also the undefeated leader.

No wonder he remains triumphant in every battle that came his way; and that was way more than anyone could think. A twelve year old rogue defeated age-old alphas with an experience in battles that that child should have never had! Even his father, the great Kane Flowerew, victorious in all his battles, lost to a pup.

Unable to accept this, he stepped down from the Alpha position and let Alfa sit there in hopes that what he couldn't do, his son would, but unfortunately for him, Alfa chose peace.

He had told Michelle that if she wanted to quit the spy job, she could, since he knew the importance of a mate in a wolfs life. She didn't say anything.

Later, when he arrived back at the pack house, Ronald was standing there with a sad face. He informed Alfa that Natalie had refused to call Valac because 'he' didn't let her speak with Arya.

"You know Ronald, this day just gets better and better!" Alfa said, sitting on his chair. They had moved to the office. "First, Michelle turned out to be Rodriguez, mate! Now, I heard that Rodriguez is Arya's brother!"

"Michelle is Rodriguez, mate? Why didn't you tell me?" Ronald asked, shocked. "What will we do now? What if she quits?"

Alfa realized at that moment that he didn't tell Ronald this. He had been so busy lately that it slipped his mind.

"Did you hear the last part?" Alfa asked calmly.

"What? What last part?" Ronald asked, stunned that there could be an even bigger news than this.

"Arya and Rodriguez are siblings!"

The silence was deafening. For a moment there, Alfa thought he might need to call Gretchen. The way he stood there, eyes wide and mouth open, holding his breath, looked like he was a statue.

"Ronald? Ronald!" Alfa used his Alpha's commanding voice, and that did the trick.

"I... I thought he was dead!" Ronald whispered.

"So did the rest of us. He somehow eluded his own death and ended up in his own father's territory. His grandfather raised him... no wonder the old wolf chose Rodriguez as the new Alpha."

"Does Arya know?"

"Yes!"

"How about Kimberly and Pete?"

There was a long silence again.

"I don't know, but they might be in danger." Alfa looked at Ronald, who was listening carefully. "Michelle told me that she had a feeling that Rodriguez might come after me, since I caused the accident that killed his parents. Arya will go to Kim and Pete for answers, and if she suspects that they had hidden this fact from her, Goddess knows what she would do to them."

"Okay. First things first, you call Natalie and try to convince her to let you speak with Valac. I'll call Kimberly and warn her of the approaching danger," Ronald said, his face calm, yet his eyes told a different story.

Both of them knew what could happen if Arya became a full-grown witch. She would be so powerful she'd become unstoppable. She's a dark witch, meaning she'll turn evil.

Alfa picked up his phone and dialed Natalie's number, which Ronald had given to him, while Ronald called Kimberly with his phone.

Kimberly answered on the third ring, "Hello?"

"Hello, Kim, this is Ronald."

"Yes, Ronald? Is everything alright?"

"Kimberly, Alfa just found out that Arya isn't Anna's only child. Her son also survived."

"What?" Kimberly said after a long pause. "What do you mean?"

"I don't know if you've heard, but the rogue Alpha, Rodriguez, is actually your nephew. He survived the crash."

Ronald could hear sobbing on the other end.

"God, really? He survived? How?"

"I don't know, but I need to ask. Did you have any idea about this? Any kind of suspicion that their child survived?" Ronald asked.

"No. Why?" Kimberly asked.

"We believe Arya will come to you asking questions. She's a dark witch and might not take it kindly to you hiding this info from her."

"I raised her well! I know she'll never do anything like that!"

"Kimberly, we all have studied about dark witches in school. You know they can be deadly," Ronald said.

"I'll handle it when the time comes," Kimberly said before the line went dead.

Ronald walked into the office again and, seeing Alfa's face, knew that his call didn't go as expected either.

"What happened? Did she take it well?" Alfa asked Ronald, though his face said it all.

"No. She still believes that Arya is different. That she would never hurt them!"

"As I said, this day gets better and better," Alfa said ironically, rolling his eyes. "Like mother like daughter... even Natalie refused to call him. She straight up told me that if I wanted to talk to her mate, she needed to talk to mine first."

"So what do we do?" Ronald asked. He was the one with the solution to every problem, but now, he was asking Alfa what they were to do.

If Natalie met with Arya and told her that they wanted to call Valac, she would immediately know why, and Alfa can not risk that happening. If she doesn't meet Arya, they don't get to meet with the demon who can change everything. What should they do?

Why doesn't Natalie understand how important this is?

The worst part is that Arya is a ticking time bomb, and no one in her family is ready to believe it. They all think that Arya is still the same girl that left their home and came to Moonsglow pack as a doctor researching on dire wolves.

She has made one sacrifice only, and she is getting stronger by how every supernatural creature feels. Everything feels different from how it used to be. And here is the Hunter family who doesn't understand that Arya will kill them without a second thought if she feels they had hidden anything about her brother from her!

When a dark witch is born, other supernatural creatures feel her energy. There is so much negativity in them that it radiades through the supernatural world.

Alfa is trying to protect them, yet they don't understand this. With Natalie, he can understand. But Kimberly? She was born in this pack, learning about this since childhood, yet she refuses to acknowledge the fact that Arya is no longer the girl they raised.

A war was definitely coming, and Alfa hoped the light would win over darkness.
