Chapter 319 - The Diary [1]

A moment later, Robin slowly lowered her head and, as if discovering a priceless treasure, opened the parchment book again, turning to the first page. She looked at the eager Starry Sky crew and softly said:

"This… is that person's diary."

Instantly, everyone's curiosity was piqued, all eyes turning toward Robin.

Zoro spoke up immediately:

"That person!? You mean… the one who might be Luffy's ancestor?"

Thud!

As soon as Zoro finished, Robin slammed her hand onto the nearby control console.

Her tone instantly shifted, carrying a deep reverence, as if speaking of someone of immense importance. Her voice was firm and serious:

"Yes. Luffy's ancestor."

The crew was immediately drawn to her sudden change, looking at her in confusion. Even Zoro, whose tone had been slightly flippant moments ago, fell silent.

If there was anyone Zoro feared within the Starry Sky Pirates, it would undoubtedly be Nico Robin.

Not only did she leverage her special bond with Luffy, placing her on equal footing with Zoro as vice-captain,

but her immense knowledge, cleverness, and natural cunning often led her to make moves that chilled Zoro to the bone.

So, the moment he sensed her shift in demeanor, Zoro wisely chose to stay silent.

Robin, having drawn the crew's attention, suddenly took a deep breath, as if apologizing for her outburst, and gently exhaled:

"Sorry, I got a bit carried away just now.

This book…

isn't a precious historical text.

It's just a regular diary."

"A diary!?"

Luffy carefully studied the thick parchment book Robin held. The writing, remarkably preserved despite eight hundred years, seemed impossibly clear. He couldn't help but ask:

"Really… it's just a diary!?"

In this massive control chamber, the only book left behind wasn't an operations manual for the Pluton—it was a diary.

A regular diary!

It was utterly bewildering!

And…

it didn't even seem like a place suitable for keeping a diary!

Could it be that the ancestor recorded the days of his imprisonment here!?

Robin let out another long sigh, presenting the first page to the crew before she began reading:

"Sea Calendar Year 701, January 1st.

Amazing! I've been chosen to join the [Celestial Dragon Project]!!!

Everyone thought the chosen one would be the clan leader's son!

I don't know why…

But since it's me, I'll do my very best!!!

Today, Father bought me this parchment book I've liked for so long to celebrate my participation in the [Celestial Dragon Project]!

I'll record this joy in this beautiful book!!!

I leave home tomorrow… I really don't want to go.

I'll miss you, Father and Mother!"

Rustle…

Robin flipped a page and glanced at the crew.

Their puzzled eyes turned toward her.

Sanji spoke up:

"Sea Calendar 701…"

"That's over 820 years ago!?"

Zoro quickly added:

"The Celestial Dragon Project…

is that connected to the Celestial Dragons today!?"

Robin simply nodded lightly, whether in response or as a habitual gesture. She continued translating the diary aloud for the crew:

"Sea Calendar 701, January 2nd.

Incredible! I'm on the Pluton!!!

I actually get to ride the King's personal ship!

Although the environment isn't very comfortable, riding such a prestigious ship makes all discomfort bearable!

The sea is so vast…

I want to reach the destination quickly!"

Rustle…

Robin flipped another page, not waiting for anyone to speak, and read on:

"Sea Calendar 701, January 3rd.

The Pluton is amazing!

It's as big as a small island but can move so fast.

I think I can even see that sacred Red Line!

Hahaha… just kidding, there's no way it moves that fast…

I wonder if Father and Mother would laugh if I showed them this diary?

I hesitate to cross out this part…

Ah well, Father and Mother, if you're reading this, these are my feelings right now~ Hehe…"

Rustle…

"Sea Calendar 701, January 15th.

Wow! 0.0!

Different divine clans really live differently…

Some even live with mortals—so unreasonable!

But today, that Donquixote Dutaru guy was really polite, it felt nice.

No wonder the clan leader always says to be polite to others.

Hmm… maybe I should learn too. I wonder if Dutaru will teach me… probably! He seems like a good person!

I'll talk to him tomorrow."

Rustle…

"Sea Calendar 701, May 4th.

Finally got another divine child aboard.

Staying on this warship every day is so boring!

What's behind that thick metal door?

The soldiers won't let us in!

Hmph, how dare these mortals stop me!

If this weren't the Pluton, I'd teach them a lesson!

They can't even use their Haki properly, useless!

I wonder why Dutaru treats them so politely?

Last time, a maid spilled soup on his clothes and he didn't punish her at all!

If this keeps up, as his good friend, will I also be laughed at by the other gods?

Forget it!

I don't care! Dutaru treats me so well. If anyone dares laugh at me, I'll smash them into meat pigs!!!

Hmph! Their punches are soft, powerless!

Tomorrow is my tenth birthday.

Maybe I won't be able to celebrate it with Father and Mother again.

I miss you, Father and Mother!"

"Sea Calendar 701, May 5th.

Damn it!

Dutaru, that jerk!!!

He's trying to embarrass me in public!

This jerk secretly prepared a birthday party for me!!!

Really… really… really… amazing!!!

Is this what the clan leader meant by the feeling of friendship!?"

"Sea Calendar 701, July 15th.

I suddenly realized the pages of this book might not be enough!

I'll only write in it when something important happens from now on!"

"Sea Calendar 701, December 4th.

Finally arrived at the Red Line!

But it's far less impressive than I imagined…

Besides the soil being red, there's nothing special.

However, the maid sent by the clan arrived much earlier than me.

Makes sense—she didn't have to cross twenty sea zones to get here.

But… hahaha!

I may never forget today, when I said thank you to her, the look of panic on her face!

I suspect Dutaru is so polite to mortals just for this… hahaha…"
