Chapter 25 - Double Trouble

Jax was laying in his bed, dozing off. Trying not to think about anything specific- when a small sound caught his attention. At first he thought it was his imagination, it had been running a lot lately.

"Oi, is someone there?" Jax called out, and the sounds stopped. He laid back down, shaking it off.

Scratch scratch scratch

The noises were louder now, faster. It was unnerving. Jax sat up, pulling his legs slowly closer to his chest. The random and sudden sounds of the scratches were getting to him. To be sitting in a dark room, as something so desperately tries to get inside is terrifying.

"Whoa, I did it." The small voice snapped Jax out of it.

"Twinkle?!" Jax got up, marching over to his wall. A few scratches later, and Jax saw Twinkle's black little pointed hand come through his wall. Backing up, he watched the fox dig a hole right through his wall.

"Sup neighbor" Twinkle chirped, crawling into his room. Her golden and pink eyes glowed, like flashlights in the dark room.

"Why the hell are you making tunnels? And why my room?!" Jax could feel heat rising on his cheeks, glad the darkness hidden his change.

"Well, you're my favorite to piss off~" Twinkle giggled as she skipped past him, her tail brushing his warm cheek.

"Oh I swear the next time I get a gun, I'm turning you into a rug."

"Yea yea love you too boo." The fox pranced around his dark room. Looking at the cute carpet and plastic chairs. Jax braced himself for her cruel mocking.

"Awe, I missed these kinds of chairs. So curved and cute" Twinkle used her tail to pull a chair out for herself.

"Huh?"

"These kind of tables! My daycare had em when I was small. I loved playing tea party with the other girls." Her tail started wiggling as she thought about it.

"Yea?" Jax scoffed. Walking over, he sat next to her. He leaned over the plastic table, looking up at the fox.

"You were a little nerd huh? Liken school and all. Bet you tried to help clean up afterwards."

Twinkle smirked, looking down at her paws. Jax swore he saw her eyes glow a little less as she stayed quiet.

"Yea, I loved staying after hours. The teachers were so kind, and the counselor would bring me snacks."

Jax was caught staring as she looked at him. "So- you often stayed?"

Twinkle nodded. "Well, yea. And in middle school I was in like, twelve different clubs" She leaned over the table too, slowly tracing a circle into the plastic. Then, she traced hearts.

"My favorite was computer club, I was in it till graduation."

Jax nodded softly, his eyes slightly larger.

"Art too, I got a few small trophies." She smirked, her tail wagging again. Giggling, she sighed and rested her head in her hand. "Sorry, I'm rambling."

"Nah, nah. It's cool." Jax shrugged, looking away as his pupiles largend.

"I just went to that arcade a bunch. Maybe smoked a bit."

"Sh[beep] yea? Weed or cigarettes?"

"Just weed. My dad smoked and, guess the smell never got good for me."

"Ah, damn. I do both" Her giggle was more nervous this time.

"I dont care, kinda sucks but. I dont know."Jax gave a small smile.

"I'd stop, if you want. I kinda got some in my room."

"How- never mind. I don't even wanna know how you got some." Jax chuckled, a small weight lifting off his shoulders.

"So, do you mind if I keep the tunnel? I find it funny." Twinkle's ears twitched, nervously waiting for his response.

"Fine, whatever." Jax shrugged, looking over at the hole.

"Just don't tell anyone about my room, ok? And no inviting friends."

"Deal" Twinkle giggled. "Why don't we make a password?"

"Password? For what?"

"Like, to say if we wanna come over! If you want permission in the others room, one of us could say cherry, and the other blossom!"

"Cherry blossom? Jeeze, you're so girly twinkle."

"Hey, cherry blossoms are beautiful." Twinkle pouted up at Jax, her tail wiggling in playful agression."

"Yea yea whatever, stop poutin at me" Jax couldn't help but smile at the fox. She was annoying, but it was good. He hadn't sat at this little plastic table for awhile, it was almost comfortable.

Just in time to ruin their moment, Caine teleported everyone to the front stage. The change in light made Jax and Twinkle hiss.

"Hello my little brainy bunch~! It's time for another amazing adventure!"

"Where does he get these nicknames from?" Pomni mumbled, confused as ever.

"Now, a big thanks to Ragatha for this one! Haha" Caine happily threw some confetti at the doll.

"Wait huh?" Ragatha took a step back.

"Yes! Yesterday when you and Twinkle were talking about siblings! So I thought, how about an adventure where you all get your own twin~?!" Caine twirled happily, very proud of his idea.

"Isn't this just the mimic all over again?" Zooble lazily pointed out.

"Well, no. You each will get your very own twin! Show them around the circus, play games, and have fun! When you're done, convince your twin to step on this big green button and they'll dissappear. But dont let them push you on it~" Caine giggled happily, then snapped his fingers. Puffs of colors blinded the circus characters.

Standing in front of each of them, was a twin. Though, they weren't exactly a copy. Zooble's twin immediately relaxed their body on Gangle's back.

Gangle's twin took out her sketchbook, silently drawing.

Kinger's twin look...awake. In a creepy way. His pupils didnt dilate to the lights, he looked around. His hooden face instead was of panic and concern.

Pomni's twin shook, terrified of every movement. Her eyes scribbled as her breathing got louder and faster.

Ragatha's twin gently bowed with a smile.

Jax's twin had Jax's signature smile, and seemed normal. But he freaked the real Jax out. The twin's face was to subtle for Jax, it was like a painting.

Twinkle's twin seemed to be the only normal one. Her face was relaxed, her fur as soft as Twinkle's.

"Um, Zooble? A little help please." Gangle quietly asked. Her ribbons slightly bundled together under the weight of Zooble's twin.

"Oi, get off her man." Zooble reached out to the NPC. Quickly, it swiped its pink hand at them, hissing before nuzzling closer to Gangle.

"Holy sh[beep]" Zooble just stared, a red color slowy rising on their triangle head.

"We'll there have been worse adventures" Pomni shrugged, relaxing a bit. Unlike her twin, who was still huntched over in fear.

"Yea, how bad could it be?" Twinkle spoke up, her tail gently swaying.
