Chapter 138 Anomaly Discovery
Daenerys will not easily forget the coercion she suffered at the hands of Jaco and his men, or the hardships she endured crossing the Red Wasteland.
Upon hearing Daenerys's words, Jaco was speechless. The Dothraki revered the strong, and while Daenerys was indeed no match for him, her mount could easily wipe out their entire Kharasar.
The Dothraki valued their mounts, considering them an integral part of their strength.
The Kha'ar of Kharas was as close as brothers to his blood sworn men, sharing everything except their mounts, including their women, which shows how important their mounts were to them.
Of course, Khal Drogo did not follow this custom.
The black dragon was Daenerys's mount and the dragon god worshipped by the Dothraki on the plains. How could he dare to disrespect Daenerys? He stepped aside and remained silent.
"Are you Her Majesty the Queen of Meereen?"
A fair-skinned, slightly overweight middle-aged businessman stepped out of the crowd and asked with a look of surprise.
"It's me." Smiling at the middle-aged merchant, Daenerys guessed that he must be a milkman from Qarth.
"My name is Yolanda, and I come from Qarth. After leaving the Dothraki Sea, I was looking forward to visiting you and your dragons, but I never expected to meet you here," Yolanda said excitedly.
[You could call him one of our fans!] Drogon couldn't help but say, looking at the excited expression on the fair-skinned Qarth merchant's face.
Unable to understand Drogon's unconventional thoughts, Daenerys smiled and said to Yolanda, "Meereen welcomes you!"
After Daenerys finished speaking, Yolanda nodded excitedly and retreated back into the crowd.
Daenerys glanced at the growing crowd around her, then stepped back onto Drogon's wings, stood on his back, and proclaimed loudly, "I am Daenerys Targaryen, the Unburnt, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, Khaleesi of Khalazar Drogon, the most powerful of the plains!"
"I have Drogon, the dragon god, and two other dragons, a mighty army, and nearly a thousand ships. I will lead them across the poisonous waters to conquer Westeros and claim the Iron Throne."
"Now, who wants to follow me and the Dragon God to conquer that new land across the sea?"
After Daenerys finished speaking, she looked eagerly at the Dothraki watching her.
Drogon: […]
Drogon was surprised that Daenerys would even invoke the Dragon God in order to win over the Dothraki warriors.
The Dothraki in the marketplace initially didn't recognize the woman riding on Drogon's back, but after hearing Daenerys's conversation and self-introduction, they realized she was Khaleesi of Khal Drogo.
That was the largest khalasar with a population of 100,000.
They didn't understand some of Daenerys' other titles, but the fact that she could ride the dragon god they worshipped was enough to shock them.
They had witnessed Zhuo Geng's power more than once, thanks to his occasional boasting, not to mention that his image after his transformation was even more awe-inspiring.
Upon hearing that Daenerys was leading a group to Westeros, the warlike, combative, and plundering Dothraki naturally wanted to follow Drogon, the dragon god. However, when they heard that they would have to cross poisonous waters, they hesitated, for those waters could cost them their lives.
The Dothraki called any water that horses could not drink "poisonous water."
There was a time when a brave Dothraki Roaring Warrior boarded a large ship traveling on poisonous water, and nearly vomited to death on it. They would rather die in a duel than suffer such torment.
Turu turu!
A snort startled the hesitant Dothraki.
"I am willing to follow Khaleesi across the poisonous waters and conquer the land on the other side!" Jako, who was still hesitating, was startled by Drogon's snort and quickly expressed his opinion.
He was indeed brave and fearless, but that didn't mean he was willing to be burned to pieces by Zhuo Geng.
He had personally witnessed the terrifying power of Zhuogeng's dragon flames after it grew forelimbs. Before that, Zhuogeng's dragon flames could at most roast a person into charcoal, but after the transformation, they directly turned a strong horse into a pile of scattered charred bones.
Jacques' statement served as a reminder to the other khaos of the Caracas.
They had long heard that the continent across the poisonous waters in the Free Trade City-States was exceptionally rich and longed to plunder it, but faced with the insurmountable poisonous waters, they could only turn back.
Now that the Dragon God, along with Khaleesi of Khal Drogo, is leading them to raid the New World, they have some reservations, but with Jaco leading the way, they immediately express their willingness to follow Daenerys.
"Anyone who wants to go to the New World can go to Meereen. I'll be waiting for you there!" Daenerys said happily upon seeing several Khals express their support.
She knew very well how formidable the Dothraki Roaring Warriors were; each one was an excellent cavalryman. With their help, things wouldn't be as simple as Tyrion saying, that she could just gain a foothold.
After Daenerys finished speaking, she dismounted from the dragon's back and, instead of leaving immediately, strolled around the market at her leisure.
After all, she was once Khaleesi, the most powerful khal on the grasslands, and was considered half Dothraki. Now that she had come to the holy city of Vis, she couldn't just leave immediately.
Drogon also wanted to go for a stroll, but his adult form was too inconvenient, and turning into a juvenile would affect his dignity as a dragon god, so he could only fly in the air and follow Daenerys.
The market in Vieux is a large open space enclosed by rammed earth walls, and the vendors are mainly merchants from all over the world.
Apart from a few Westeros merchants, most merchants came from the nine free cities, as well as merchants from Qarth like Yolanda, and many Assassins who came from the Shadowlands of the East.
They mostly sell local specialties, including many rare items and animals.
After strolling around the market, Daenerys came to a road next to the market that was paved with bluestone and lined with grass.
The wooden shelves along the roadside were filled with all sorts of strange wood carvings, bronze products, or other trinkets whose materials were hard to discern.
Although Daenerys hadn't spent much time in Wiss, she was very familiar with the place and told Drogon that the road was called the Road of the Gods.
Most of the items sold on the roadside were strange items looted by the Dothraki from the ruins of the gods in various places.
These items have bizarre shapes, resembling the coats of arms of various noble families. Some are carvings of real animals, while others are imaginary totems or monster carvings.
Daenerys walked around, looking at things, occasionally pausing at a particular stall for a while.
Drogon, hovering above Daenerys's head, was rather bored, feeling like he was shopping with his girlfriend from a past life. He just hoped that Daenerys would leave Whis soon after putting on enough show, ending this trip to the grasslands.
"Um?"
Zhuo Geng, who was getting impatient, suddenly opened his eyes and turned to look around.
Just now, he suddenly sensed an unusual aura, an aura that seemed familiar yet slightly different.
Finding nothing unusual in his surroundings, he carefully sensed the area again and realized he wasn't imagining things; the aura was indeed coming from below.
He lowered his altitude and slowly fixed his gaze on a simple wooden frame below.
