Chapter-165: lost in the snow storm
The road became more difficult to travel on, with many potholes and severe bumps. Some of the roads are rugged and narrow, making it difficult for horse drawn carriages to pass through and the journey is extremely dangerous.
The inn was becoming more and more shabby, and the roof of the post station was leaking. Sometimes I was woken up by the rain in the middle of the night and was freezing. Not to mention food, there were no fresh vegetables and meat and we could only eat dry steamed buns every day.
The situation continued every day and was exhausting, even though everyone had horse drawn carriages to get around. Suddenly, someone shouted in surprise, "Ah, it's snowing, such beautiful snow."
Lord Jeff's face changed. "Notify all carriages to catch up and don't fall behind. Move quickly and get to the next post station as soon as possible." No matter how bad the conditions at the post station are, it is better to sleep outdoors, at least it can shelter from the wind and snow.
The snow fell heavier and heavier, and the sky was full of flying snow. Wendy Lark sat in the carriage, opened the window and looked outside. It was already covered in silver, a world of silver.
The snow on the ground was getting deeper and deeper, making it extremely difficult for horses to walk in the snow. Hey, there is a person walking in the snow, is it my second brother?
She quickly opened the car door and a gust of cold air rushed in, making her shiver. "Brother, it's so cold outside, why are you here?" Jerry Lark rubbed his hands together and a few snowflakes touched his nose.
"You are alone in a carriage, the snow is too strong. I am worried about you." Although there was a coachman, he was not a close relative after all. Wendy Lark poured a cup of hot tea and handed it over, "Have you visited your parents?"
"Brother will go and take care of it." Jerry Lark then took off his thick fur coat, took the tea and took a sip. It was red date and ginger tea. After drinking it, his stomach felt warm and he felt much more comfortable.
He couldn't help but complain, "What kind of lousy weather is this? It was sunny when we went out, but suddenly it snowed so heavily. We were not prepared at all." Wendy Lark now only drinks ginger tea.
The weather is too cold. Even though she is wrapped in layer upon layer of clothes and holding a small hand warmer in her hand, she still feels cold in her bones. "I really hope to get to Varna as soon as possible and settle down soon."
Well the place they are going is like that. There is a hot desert out there and also the place that is so cold that it is snowing. This is a Weird place in the south of the Greatway kingdom. There might be abnormal storms in this place because of costal area.
By then we can build a fire place in the house and it will be warm inside. Jerry Lark took a piece of dessert and ate it casually, "How far is it?" Wendy Lark didn't know either. She hadn't seen the map of Greatway kingdom.
Well she did have the map but in reality she did not and she cannot answer this question right now. If it is later she can still answer after acquiring a map of the country through formal means.
"According to Lord Jeff, we will arrive in half a month." Walking from autumn to winter, with stops and starts was already considered fast, a month faster than Mr. Jeff expected. The fire was burning brightly in the carriage.
Jerry Lark couldn't help sneezing from the sudden change from cold to hot. "I didn't expect the weather here to be so cold. Fortunately, you made preparations early. Every family has a carriage. Otherwise, I'm afraid a lot of people would die."
He was not exaggerating. It was the truth. Now when the tribe members mentioned Wendy Lark, they would praise her as the savior of the entire tribe. The brother and sister chatted casually for an unknown amount of time before Jerry Lark took the initiative to say.
"Brother Sam, I will drive the carriage you come in and warm up." It is so cold outside that no matter how much I wear, I can't block the chill. My whole body becomes stiff after staying outside for a long time.
"Thank you, Second Young Master. I'm fine." Guard Sam is Wendy Lark's full time coachman. He follows her wherever she goes and is very honest and dutiful. Jerry Lark smiled and said, "Don't be polite to me come in quickly, I'll do it."
"Ah…." Guard Sam suddenly exclaimed. "What's wrong?" Jerry Lark suddenly opened the curtain. Guard Sam looked panic stricken. "The wheel tracks on the road ahead are gone. It seems that I have lost track of the team ahead."
Wendy Lark and her brother looked at each other, their faces changed and they opened the window to look left and right. The heavy snow covered the sky and blocked the view. No carriage could be seen in sight.
"Stop and wait." After waiting for a long time the carriage behind did not catch up. Well, Wendy Lark was sure that they had separated from the main group and got lost in the snowy weather! What terrible news.
Heavy snow fell everywhere, and the snow on the ground was ankle deep. The horse could no longer move, so Guard Sam got off the carriage and led the horse forward step by step, leaving footprints in the thick snow.
Wendy Lark was very anxious. She had never encountered such a situation before. Wandering around without direction is not an option. She leaned over the window and looked out, "Brother Guard Sam, can you see if there is any shelter? Even a big tree will do."
