Chapter 177 - CHAPTER 177

Nine Shinigami had entered Hueco Mundo.

Eight had fallen.

Only one still advanced.

Through the long alabaster corridor of Las Noches, footsteps echoed sharply.

Soi Fon did not slow.

Her shunpo carried her forward in measured bursts controlled, economical, lethal.

Six months.

It had been half a year since she last saw him.

It was not the thirty-year separation they had endured once before, nor the decades of silent waiting but after that kind of distance, even days apart became intolerable.

Her Reiatsu sharpened.

She reached the inner sector of the palace, where the artificial sky arched overhead painted blue, motionless, immaculate.

Even for a captain, Las Noches was vast beyond reason.

Two figures appeared ahead and dropped to one knee.

They were Arrancar, tall, masked remnants framing their faces. Subordinates of Tier Harribel.

"Lady Soi Fon," one said. "Lord Renya awaits."

She did not question how they knew her.

"Lead."

They moved.

Moments later, they arrived before a high white chamber sealed with towering doors.

The Arrancar stopped.

"Inside."

Soi Fon stepped forward alone.

The doors parted soundlessly.

A faint shift of Reiatsu brushed against her senses.

She halted.

A figure stood within the chamber's center.

Tall.

Clad in white.

Spiritual pressure dense neither Shinigami nor Hollow alone, but layered.

Her hand moved instantly to her Zanpakutō.

"Identify yourself."

The figure stepped into the light.

"Kurotsuki Renya," he replied calmly.

His voice was deeper than before

refined, steadier.

Soi Fon's eyes narrowed.

"Renya does not feel like this."

His Reiatsu was immense. Not wild controlled. But it bore traces of Hollow resonance, fused with Shinigami composition.

"I have changed," he said. "But I am still myself."

She did not lower her blade.

"Explain."

Renya exhaled lightly.

"I have integrated Hollow reishi into my spiritual structure. Not as corruption. As balance."

Unlike Sōsuke Aizen, who forced evolution through the Hōgyoku's will, Renya's transformation was controlled—stabilized through deliberate fusion rather than uncontrolled metamorphosis.

No chrysalis.

No wings.

No monstrous distortion.

Only refinement.

"My spiritual density increased. My body adapted."

She studied him carefully.

His height had increased slightly.

His build had matured.

But his eyes

They were unchanged.

She stepped closer.

"When did we first meet?"

"Shin'ō Academy," he answered immediately. "You entered my room without knocking and informed me that stealth did not require politeness."

Her expression shifted slightly.

"When did you first hold my hand?"

"The summer festival in Seireitei. You claimed it was tactical positioning."

Her grip loosened.

"And our first kiss?"

A faint smile crossed his face.

"You visited me in the Fourth Division infirmary after my fight with Kenpachi Zaraki. You thought I was asleep."

A faint flush touched her ears.

"That was not what I meant."

"I know," he replied softly. "The banquet was interrupted before it counted."

Silence hung between them.

Then

Her Zanpakutō lowered completely.

In a single step, she crossed the space and embraced him.

He held her without hesitation.

For a moment, Las Noches did not exist.

The war did not exist.

Only the quiet rhythm of two Reiatsu finally aligned again.

After a long silence, she spoke against his chest.

"You feel different."

"I am stronger," he replied honestly. "But not someone else."

She leaned back slightly, examining his face again.

"You are certain this path does not mirror Aizen's?"

"It does not."

His voice remained steady.

"I am not chasing divinity. Only survival."

She exhaled slowly.

"That is acceptable."

A faint sound interrupted them.

From the far side of the chamber, a figure sat upright upon a cushioned platform.

Green hair.

Antelope-like mask fragments.

Calm golden eyes.

Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck stretched lazily.

"Are you finished? We depart soon."

Soi Fon's eyes sharpened instantly.

"Why is she here?"

Nelliel tilted her head.

"I am his guard."

Her tone was matter-of-fact, not provocative.

"I remain within proximity for immediate response."

Soi Fon's gaze returned to Renya.

"She sleeps in your chamber?"

"It is strategic positioning," Nelliel answered before he could.

Renya sighed faintly.

"She is assigned to internal security. Nothing more."

Soi Fon studied Nelliel carefully.

She recognized the Espada-class pressure.

This was no idle subordinate.

After a moment, she looked back at Renya.

"You trust her?"

"Yes."

"And she obeys you?"

Nelliel answered calmly.

"I do."

The tension dissipated gradually.

Soi Fon stepped back beside Renya rather than in front of him.

"That is sufficient."

Renya looked at her.

"You always did prefer direct answers."

"And you," she replied quietly, "always preferred reckless ones."

A faint smile passed between them.

Outside, Las Noches remained fractured from the earlier battles.

Reiatsu signatures flickered and faded across its sectors.

The war was not over.

But for the first time since entering Hueco Mundo

Soi Fon felt steady.

Renya's presence had not vanished.

It had only evolved.

And whatever path he now walked

She would judge it herself.
