Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7

Chapter 7: The Window Text

Wonie's POV

It had been a week.

Seven days.

One hundred and sixty-eight hours.

Not a single text. Not a single accidental run-in. Not even a glance across campus.

It's like Jungkook had vanished into the folds of college life.

Maybe I was grateful. Maybe I was avoiding him too. Maybe it was better this way — clean, distant, quiet.

But I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel it.

The absence.

Classes had me wrapped tight. Assignments, club meetings, lectures that made time stretch like rubber bands. Distraction was the only medicine I trusted lately.

At lunch, everyone gathered at the café like usual. The table was louder than ever.

Liam sat with Grace practically tucked into his side. Their hands constantly brushing. Whispers between kisses. Inside jokes only two people drunk on each other could share.

I won't lie — they were adorable.

And I'm not mad.

I'm just... watching from the side of the stage now.

Back at the dorm in the evening, I kicked off my shoes and collapsed onto the bed. Maya was out. Grace hadn't returned from Liam's place. And for the first time all week, silence filled the room like smoke.

I was halfway through scrolling my feed when my phone buzzed.

Unknown Number: Look out of the window.

My heart did that stupid flutter thing. You know the one — where it knows something before your brain catches up?

I sat up slowly.

Moved toward the window.

Drew the curtain.

And stopped breathing for a second.

He was there.

Standing on the sidewalk under the dim yellow glow of the streetlamp. Hands in his pockets. Hood pulled up. Head tilted slightly, looking up at my window.

Jungkook.

The same boy I hadn't seen in a week.

The same boy I told off at that party.

The same boy who watched me walk away that night, then didn't follow.

My fingers hovered over my phone.

I typed.

Me: What are you doing here?

A second passed.

Then my phone buzzed again.

Unknown Number: Can we talk?

I looked down at him. He didn't smile. Didn't wave. Didn't try to charm his way in.

He just stood there. Waiting.

And suddenly, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to slam the window shut...Or run all the way down barefoot.
