"I don't believe it is good for you to be involved with this matter at all. What if this contact of yours' enemies come for you in retaliation?" he pressed sternly.
I shook my head "That won't happen, or rather can't happen. I won't explain it but that is not even vaguely a concern. I should also point out that this request is more of a courtesy to you than me asking permission. Even if you say no I will still one way or another go to Diagon alley. " I said calmly.
He sighed "I believe you. I almost wish you hadn't given the courtesy of asking me first. This is a truly vexatious matter." he said frowning deeply.
I shrugged "If it were a minor thing I wouldn't possibly get in trouble for I would have taken care of it on my own. But a first year showing up in diagon alley unaccompanied during school days would raise questions that would be annoying to deal with." I said honestly.
"I suppose I have time for a quick trip to the alley. I assume you are only grabbing a select few items correct?" he asked as he stood up.
"I wouldn't say few but a limited selection is accurate enough." I said with a nod.
"You know how to use Floo?" he asked as he walked over to the fireplace of his office.
"Take a handful of powder, toss it in the flames before stepping in and loudly proclaiming your destination." I said.
He nodded as he held out an ornate bowl with shiny gray powder in it towards me.
I took a handful and tossed it into the flames that erupted in a lime green coloration. I then stepping into the flames that licked at me but didn't burn before concisely speaking.
"Diagon alley!"
The flames rose to consume me and I felt as though I was falling through a long rough slide but remained calm until green flame consumed me again and I stepped out of the fireplace of Tom's pub. Ash covered my clothes from the dirty place as I stepped out and Dumbledore shortly came out as well. There were a few confused looks as we were taken in by those in the pub but we ignored them to head for the real entrance to Diagon alley. -
We opened the brick wall and stepped into the alley proper before I led the way towards Gringotts. The goblins at the bank were respectful when they saw Dumbledore with me and didn't cause a fuss as we approached a podium.
The goblin peered down at us with narrowed eyes "State your business." it barked firmly.
I reached into my robe and drew out my vault key "Large withdrawal of funds from my personal vault." I said calmly.
"One moment." the thing said and rang a sharp chimed bell.
Soon another goblin covered in keys appeared and looked at the one at the podium questioningly.
"Key verification." the podium goblin said succinctly.
I provided the key to the key goblin who took it and carefully inspected.
"Vault seven three three one, I remember this one. A student loan vault that was upgraded to a full vault in mere days. That must make you Alexander Drake." the goblin said as it eyed me greedily.
"Indeed, I am here to withdraw a large amount of galleons from my vault. Bring me to Ragkog, he is my preferred banker. " I said calmly.
The key goblin looked at the one sitting behind the podium. That goblin nodded seriously and the key goblin grunted before turning to leave with a "follow me" motion.-
We were led through through the bank and soon reached a private room with luxurious furniture and a fine wooden desk that Ragkog was working on paperwork behind. He looked up as we entered and his eyes lit up.
"Ah, Mr. Drake and of course Headmaster Dumbledore! To what do I owe the visit?" he asked with a wide smile.
"A withdrawal of substantial quantity." I said honestly.
The goblin's eyes narrowed "Substantial to what degree?" he asked seriously.
"A full seventy five thousand galleons." I said and both Dumbledore and Ragkog stiffened.
"That's no small sum. Can I inquire as to why you need it?" Ragkog asked seriously.
"A business contact of mine is going to war and requested as much healing items as I could get my hands on in short order. A large portion of the funds are going towards a rush order for a rather irritable potions master as well, the majority in fact." I said seeing no reason to hide it.
"Severus already has a very busy schedule, perhaps it best if you don't bother him with this matter." Dumbledore said sternly.
"Unless you know another potion master I can trust to give this matter the severity it deserves and I can get easy access to it has to be him." I said without backing down.
He sighed "So be it, Severus can make his own decision on this." he said letting the topic end there for now.
"I see, you could put in a money transfer request for whatever amount you are offering Mr. Snape rather than directly withdrawing the money." Ragkog suggested.
"I'll still need thirty thousand even in that case." I said not denying the practicality of this method.
"Of course, will you be coming along to retrieve the coin or would you prefer it brought to you here?" he asked.
"I'll wait here." I said calmly handing over my key.
