'What kind of situation is this?'
Blake's eyes fluttered open.
The ceiling, the bed, the unfamiliar room.
For a few quiet seconds, he simply lay there, still caught between sleep and wakefulness.
His mind felt sluggish, unwilling to piece together where he was.
The blanket was warmer than he expected, and the pillow beneath his head smelled faintly of clean detergent.
'Right, I'm in Myles' base. Huh, where is he?'
He palmed the little space right next to him, but found none of that cold body.
Then, he noticed someone standing beside the bed.
"AH?!"
Blake jumped, hand over his heart.
'The grocery store clerk??'
It was the same guy from that day, the one who had been behind the counter before Blake and Myles went on their mountain date.
He was standing there with his arms crossed, openly staring down at him, not saying anything.
Just, watching.
Blake immediately jerked upright.
"Ow..."
A sharp pain shot through his head.
