The little Djiva, satisfied, curled up again over her leg. This time, however, she did not fall asleep immediately. She remained watching the two of them, her small eyes moving from one face to the other, as if she were studying them.
First Gao Ziyue, then Kyrian, then Gao Ziyue again. Her eyes seemed extremely attentive, processing information that no one else could understand.
Kyrian slowly extended a finger, moving carefully so as not to frighten the creature.
Djiva brought her snout closer, her little nose twitching as she sniffed. Then, slowly, she touched his finger with her head, a gesture that was both a greeting and an acceptance.
Kyrian remained motionless, surprised by the creature's trust.
"She's not afraid of you." Gao Ziyue smiled, her eyes shining with a soft light.
"Maybe she recognizes you."
"Me?"
"You helped choose her name. And you were there when she was born. For such a young creature, that might mean more than we realize."
