Chapter 20 - 20

Vinny felt Griffin's presence pressing against him like a shadow that would not leave. The gate swung slowly, and a tall figure stepped through, hesitating in the bright sunlight. Vinny's heart skipped.

Griffin's hand was firm on his wrist, guiding him back a step, eyes narrowing. The grip was gentle but possessed, as if even the air around Vinny belonged to Griffin.

The figure stepped closer. A man, tall, nondescript, but there was a confidence in the way he moved that made Vinny instinctively shrink back.

Griffin's voice was low and sharp. "Do not speak. Do not move. Stay with me."

Vinny nodded, unable to speak. Every nerve in his body was alert, every muscle tensing under Griffins watchful gaze.

The man stopped a few feet away, glancing at Vinny first, then Griffin. There was recognition in his eyes, but it was not relief. It was calculation.

Griffin's jaw tightened. He did not introduce himself. He did not speak. He simply stood slightly in front of Vinny, chest out, hands clenched loosely at his sides. Dark eyes fixed on the newcomer.

Vinny felt his stomach twist. He wanted to step forward. To explain. To reassure. But Griffin's presence made it impossible. Not just impossible. Dangerous.

The man spoke first. "Vinny?" His voice was calm, but there was something beneath it, a sharpness, a warning.

Vinny hesitated. His pulse was rapid. "Yes," he whispered.

Griffin's thumb pressed lightly against Vinnys chin, lifting his gaze. "Do not answer him. You do not owe him anything."

Vinny froze, caught between instinct and fear. The man's eyes flicked to Griffin. His expression hardened.

"You are not who I expected," the man said slowly, gaze moving over Griffin's frame. "And you are not what I expected either, Vinny."

Griffin's lips curled slightly, but his eyes remained dark, calculating. "You will leave. Now."

The man tilted his head. "I came to check on him. To make sure he is safe."

Griffin's expression did not change, but the tension radiating from him was palpable. "I am the only one responsible for his safety. You do not get to decide that."

Vinny swallowed hard. The familiar thrill of Griffins possessiveness tightened in his chest. He knew this intensity. He had seen it before. It was part of what had drawn him to Griffin, terrifying and intoxicating all at once.

The man's lips curved into a small smirk. "You do not scare me."

That was the moment Griffin shifted. Just slightly. Dark eyes locking with the man, every movement controlled, precise. There was a sharpness to his stance, an edge of danger that Vinny could feel in his bones.

"I do not intend to scare you," Griffin said slowly, voice low, dangerous. "I intend to protect what is mine."

Vinny's stomach clenched. The dark undertone was unmistakable. Griffin's obsession was no longer playful or teasing. It was a force. A storm.

The man took a step back. "I see. Then I will leave. For now." His tone was calm, but there was tension beneath it.

Griffin did not move. He simply watched until the man disappeared down the street. Only then did he release his grip on Vinny.

Vinny sagged slightly, relief and adrenaline clashing inside him. "Is he gone?"

Griffin's eyes softened just enough. "For now. But remember, Vinny. No one touches you. No one watches you. Not without me knowing."

Vinny nodded, voice small. "I… understand."

Griffin stepped closer, his hand brushing against Vinnys cheek, a dangerous tenderness in the gesture. "Good. Now come inside. You need to eat. You need to rest. You need to remember who keeps you safe."

The words made Vinny shiver. Not with fear. Not entirely. There was comfort there too. But beneath it, a dark, undeniable truth: Griffin's love was consuming. Possessive. All encompassing. And Vinny did not know if he could survive it.

He allowed Griffin to guide him inside, following silently, each step measured. Behind them, the street seemed empty, normal. Safe. But Vinny knew better. The danger was never far. And Griffin's obsession, dark and unrelenting, would ensure he was never truly alone again.

Vinny entered the house, his pulse still racing. He did not speak. He could not. He simply let Griffin lead him to the living room, where sunlight spilled across the floor, warm and golden.

Griffin released him there, eyes never leaving him. "Sit. Eat. Breathe. I am watching. Always."

Vinny sank onto the couch, his hands trembling slightly. The thrill, the fear, the desire, the need, all tangled together, suffocating and exhilarating.

Griffin knelt beside him, dark eyes drinking in every movement, every reaction. "You are mine, Vinny. And I will never let you go. Not now. Not ever. Understand?"

Vinny's lips parted, but he could only nod. He could not speak. He did not want to speak. Griffin's presence, dark and protective, was already consuming him. Already claiming him in ways he could not resist.

And deep down, somewhere between terror and longing, Vinny knew he would not escape.

Not now. Not ever.

The sun shifted outside, spilling light across the floor. But inside, Vinny's world was no longer safe or ordinary. It belonged to Griffin.

And Griffin's dark kind of love was just beginning.
