Chapter 65 - The Crash

Chapter 65 — The Crash

It was already eight o'clock in the morning. White clouds drifted across the sky, and a pleasant breeze was blowing gently through the air. But unusually, the breeze carried with it the terrible smell of human flesh.

Everyone was standing on the rooftop of the school building, watching the helicopter approaching in the sky. Among them, John, Afra, Mary, and William were silently raising their hands into the air and waving desperately.

These eighteen people had been standing on the rooftop, waiting for the helicopter.

And now, seeing the helicopter approaching, their hope of surviving grew stronger. A ray of hope began to emerge in their frightened hearts.

The helicopter could be seen slowly moving closer.

But when it was only a short distance away from the school building, the helicopter suddenly began to tilt strangely. Everyone standing on the school building's rooftop watched it in confusion and shock.

On the other hand, inside the helicopter, one of the pilots had turned into a zombie and was attacking the other pilot. The second pilot was desperately trying to save himself, and because of this struggle, he failed to pay attention to controlling the helicopter.

Suddenly, the zombie bit the other pilot. A scream escaped the pilot's mouth from the pain, and his hands moved away from the controls.

And just like that, the helicopter became uncontrollable.

It began approaching the school building dangerously, falling rapidly toward the ground.

Everyone standing on the rooftop froze in terror.

At that moment, Hasnain immediately moved toward Sana and grabbed her hand tightly.

Sana seemed completely unable to understand what was happening. She was simply too terrified to react.

At the same time, on the other side, Jackson and Mary stood holding each other's hands.

Yaram stood with Lina.

Mr. Simit stood with Miss Selena.

Jason, William, and Jack stood together.

Michael, Ghani, Sam, Jinjin, and Saad also stood there in fear.

Everyone's heart was pounding rapidly with terror.

The condition of the weaker-hearted people had become so bad that they could barely stand.

Those two people were Afra and John, who were standing together with tears silently flowing from their eyes.

Suddenly, the helicopter seemed to fly through the air directly over their heads and crash on the other side of the school grounds.

Everyone immediately lowered their heads.

Fortunately, no one was injured because the helicopter had veered away in the air and fallen some distance away from them.

Then, all of a sudden, it exploded with a tremendous blast.

The moment the explosion occurred, the entire building shook violently, and everyone standing on the rooftop became even more terrified.

Afterward, one by one, they slowly lifted their heads.

Some of those who had fallen onto the roof slowly tried to get up, while others simply lay on the ground because their legs no longer had the strength to carry them.

Hasnain, who had hidden Sana protectively in his arms during the explosion, slowly stood up with her.

After making sure that she was safe, Hasnain focused his attractive eyes on Sana and asked,

"Are you okay?"

Hearing this, Sana replied in a trembling voice filled with fear,

"Y-yes... yes... I'm fine."

But Sana's hands were trembling badly because of fear.

Seeing this, Hasnain quickly took off his coat, helped Sana sit in a corner, and placed his coat over her.

"You're not okay, so rest for a while. I'll stay right here."

Hearing this, despite being in such a terrible condition, Sana replied displeasingly,

"I don't need you. I'm fine like this."

Hearing this, Hasnain smiled faintly and stood up.

After taking his eyes away from Sana, he looked toward the crashed helicopter.

He did not want to take his eyes off her even for a moment, but while taking care of Sana, he was forced to look away so that she would not feel uncomfortable.

On the other side, Afra suddenly became unconscious and was about to fall when Jason, who was standing nearby, caught her in his arms.

He slowly lowered her to the ground and gently tapped her face with his hand.

"Afra... wake up..."

At the same time, Ghani rushed toward Afra in extreme worry. He pushed Jason aside and sat down beside her, trying to wake her up.

Sana also came and sat beside Afra, while everyone else gathered around them with worried expressions.

After a long while, Afra finally regained consciousness.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Ghani and Jason on her right.

Then, when she looked toward her left, she saw Sana.

The moment she saw her, Afra immediately sat up and threw her arms around Sana.

She burst into tears and said in a trembling voice,

"I'm so scared."

After saying those words, she could no longer hold herself together and simply continued sobbing.

Sana spoke to her in a reassuring voice.

"Afra, calm yourself. Nothing will happen to you. I won't let anything happen to you."

She gently pulled Afra into a hug, then held Afra's face between both of her hands and softly wiped away her tears.

"My dear friend, be brave. This terrible time will pass too, and all of us will once again live a normal life filled with happiness."

Sana's words brought some comfort to Afra's frightened heart.

After that, Afra slowly calmed down.

Then, with Sana's help, she walked to a corner and sat down beside her.

When Afra began trembling again, Sana placed Hasnain's coat over her and wrapped both of her arms around her so that she would not feel alone.

At the same time, everyone else also sat down in their respective places.

None of them knew what they were supposed to do now.

The rescue helicopter they had been waiting for—the helicopter they had fought their way through the entire night to reach the rooftop for—had crashed right before their eyes.

And now, none of them had any idea how they were going to get out of there.
