Chapter 198 - The Triumphant Return and the Omniscient Network

Miles away from the charred, blood-stained cobblestones and the lingering, oppressive tension of Spirit City, a vastly different atmosphere reigned supreme. It was an atmosphere built upon unyielding opulence, absolute victory, and the quiet, undeniable assertion of supreme power. The sun hung high in the azure sky, casting a warm, golden glow over the sprawling, majestic architecture of the Heaven Dou Empire's capital.

A grand, heavily armored convoy of exquisite carriages approached the massive, fortified outer gates of Heaven Dou City. The convoy was a moving monument to wealth and status, the wooden exteriors of the carriages carved from hundred-year-old ironwood and lined with rare, shimmering spirit-conducting metals. The imperial guards stationed at the towering stone gates, usually strict and unyielding in their inspections, immediately snapped to attention. They recognized the crests emblazoned on the sides of the carriages—the intertwined symbols of the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy's absolute champions and the unmistakable, towering pagoda of the Seven Treasure Glaze Tile Sect.

The heavy iron portcullis was raised with the grinding screech of thick chains, and the convoy passed through the heavily guarded gates without a single delay, rolling onto the smooth, wide avenues of the bustling capital.

Zhang Tian rode comfortably in the lead carriage, the interior of which was as spacious as a lavish parlor room. The seats were upholstered in the softest, most expensive silk harvested from high-tier silk-spinning spirit beasts, dyed in deep shades of crimson and midnight blue. His posture was entirely relaxed, embodying the careless, victorious ease of a conqueror returning to claim his throne.

He was surrounded by the beautiful, devoted women who constituted his fiercely protected inner circle. To his immediate left sat Qian Renxue, her flawless, angelic features radiating a profound, serene happiness now that the heavy burden of her mother's hatred had been lifted. To his right, Ning Rongrong leaned her head affectionately against his shoulder, her cyan eyes bright with the excitement of returning to her home city after months of grueling combat and tournament politics.

Sitting gracefully directly opposite him was the Supreme Pontiff, Bibi Dong. However, her awe-inspiring, mature presence was completely hidden beneath a heavy, impenetrable silken veil and a conservative, dark traveler's cloak. This disguise was meticulously maintained to preserve the grand illusion of her absence.

To the outside world, and even to the lower ranks of the Spirit Hall, the Supreme Pontiff was currently undergoing an intense, closed-door cultivation retreat within the deepest, most secure chambers of the Elder Hall in Spirit City to comprehend the mysteries of the divine. Only a select few knew the scandalous, earth-shattering truth: the ruler of the continent's most powerful religious and military faction had abandoned her throne to secretly accompany a young man back to his estate.

Qian Renxue, Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, Zhu Zhuyun, Ah Yin, and the innocent, golden-haired Jin Xi filled the remaining luxurious transports trailing behind the lead carriage. It was a stunning, unprecedented collection of the continent's most exceptional beauties, each possessing a unique, world-toppling allure that could easily incite wars between kingdoms.

The convoy smoothly bypassed the bustling commercial districts and the sprawling, heavily fortified grounds of the imperial palace, heading directly toward the most affluent, secluded district of the capital. They were making their way toward Zhang Tian's sprawling, private mansion—an estate that rivaled the royal grounds themselves in both sheer size and architectural grandeur.

Prior to arriving at the city gates, a significant separation had occurred. Ning Fengzhi, the Bone Douluo Gu Rong, and the Sword Douluo Chen Xin had separated their own carriages from the main group. They had turned their transports toward the towering, majestic fortress of the Seven Treasure Glaze Tile Sect, located on the outskirts of the capital.

They had departed with absolute, unwavering peace of mind. Before their paths diverged at a quiet crossroad, they had been explicitly assured by Bibi Dong herself—acting in her official, veiled capacity as a supreme ally—that she would personally see to it that Zhang Tian and his entourage were protected from any unforeseen threats or lingering assassins from hostile factions.

'With the Supreme Pontiff herself guarding him, my son-in-law is undeniably the safest man on the entire continent,' Ning Fengzhi had thought, a smug, deeply satisfied smile gracing his elegant features as his carriage rolled away. He felt an immense pride in the political alliances his daughter's husband had secured. The Sect Master was entirely, blissfully oblivious to the scandalous, highly submissive reality of her so-called 'protection.' He had no idea that the Supreme Pontiff was not acting as a bodyguard, but as an obedient, infatuated lover eager to warm the young man's bed.

The convoy finally turned onto a wide, private avenue lined with towering, ancient spirit-gathering trees. At the end of the avenue stood the heavy, wrought-iron gates of Zhang Tian's mansion. The gates were masterworks of metallurgy, intricately forged to depict sprawling vines of Blood Silver Grass wrapping around the sun and moon.

As the carriages approached, the uniformed guards stationed at the entrance—elite Spirit Kings handpicked for their absolute loyalty—instantly recognized their master's return. They moved with sharp, military precision, pushing the massive gates open. They bowed deeply from the waist, their heads lowered in profound respect as the convoy rolled onto the pristine, meticulously manicured cobblestone driveway of the estate.

The carriages came to a gentle, rocking halt before the grand entrance of the main manor, a sprawling, four-story architectural marvel constructed from white marble, dark slate, and reinforced spirit-glass.

Zhang Tian stepped out of the lead carriage first. His dark boots clicked against the stone as he stood tall, adjusting the cuffs of his expensive, dark robes. He turned back toward the carriage door, offering his large, warm hand to assist his wives and mistresses as they disembarked. He projected the flawless, charismatic image of a perfect, wealthy nobleman returning home from a highly successful military campaign, treating his women with the utmost chivalry in the open air.

He helped Ning Rongrong down first, the princess of the Seven Treasure Glaze Tile Sect giggling as she squeezed his hand.

Next came Qian Renxue, her golden-white dress catching the afternoon breeze.

From the second carriage, Zhu Zhuqing emerged with her signature feline grace, her massive assets straining against the sleek fabric of her dark clothes.

Zhu Zhuyun walked closely behind her younger sister. Her demeanor was a stark, jarring contrast to the arrogant, imperious vice-captain she had been just weeks prior. She was utterly subservient, keeping her head slightly bowed, her posture reflecting the harsh discipline she had endured.

Her dark eyes darted nervously around the massive estate. The towering walls, the roaming guards, and the sheer, breathtaking wealth on display confirmed her terrifying reality. This sprawling mansion would serve as her new, inescapable, gilded cage, a prison where she would exist solely for the carnal pleasure of the red-haired monster who had conquered her body and shattered her pride.

Jin Xi stepped down from the third carriage, aided by the gentle, maternal guidance of Ah Yin. The Emperor Auspicious Beast looked around with wide, crimson eyes, her innocent curiosity entirely unaffected by the heavy political implications of their arrival. She marveled openly at the intricate, multi-tiered water fountains that sprayed crystal-clear water into the air, creating miniature rainbows. She gasped at the sheer volume of perfectly trimmed, exotic flora decorating the expansive gardens, recognizing several rare spirit herbs that had been seamlessly integrated into the landscaping purely for aesthetic appeal.

Finally, the veiled figure of Bibi Dong stepped down from the lead carriage. She moved with a measured, deliberate grace, ensuring her heavy cloak concealed the luscious, mature curves of her body.

"Welcome to your new home, Dong'er," Zhang Tian whispered softly, his voice a low, intimate vibration meant only for her ears.

As she stepped down onto the cobblestones, his large hand moved to rest intimately on the curve of her narrow waist, sliding smoothly beneath the cover of her dark traveler's cloak. His long fingers gently squeezed her hip, a silent, possessive reminder of the absolute authority he held over her.

Bibi Dong leaned heavily into his touch, a soft, breathless sigh escaping her lips beneath the heavy silk veil. Her heart fluttered wildly in her chest, blooming with a strange, intoxicating domestic joy she hadn't felt in decades. The cold, sterile halls of the Supreme Pontiff's Palace, with its endless politics and lingering ghosts, felt like a distant nightmare compared to the warmth of his touch.

"It is beautiful, Husband," Bibi Dong whispered back, her pink eyes sweeping over the grand marble facade of the mansion. "But the walls do not matter. As long as you are here by my side, even the darkest dungeon is a paradise."

"We will ensure you are quite comfortable," Zhang Tian chuckled darkly, leading the procession up the wide marble stairs toward the grand double doors of the manor.

The household staff, consisting of dozens of impeccably dressed maids, butlers, and stewards, poured out of the entrance to receive their master. They lined the grand foyer, bowing in perfect synchronization. They efficiently moved to unload the heavy trunks of acquired treasures, rare spirit herbs, and the numerous tournament spoils from the carriages. The household operated with a silent, strictly disciplined efficiency that greatly pleased the returning master. There was no chaotic shouting, no fumbling of heavy chests; it was a well-oiled machine dedicated to serving his every whim.

The interior of the mansion was a sanctuary of absolute, unbridled opulence, designed not just for luxury, but to facilitate the complex, demanding lifestyle of a peerless genius. The grand foyer featured sweeping, dual spiral staircases carved from black marble, leading up to the residential wings. The estate housed massive indoor bathing chambers fed by natural, geothermally heated springs infused with spirit-gathering arrays. There were extensive, multi-level libraries containing ancient texts, forbidden martial arts manuals, and deep historical records stolen or purchased from across the continent.

Most importantly, hidden deep beneath the polished floors, the mansion boasted highly secured, heavily warded underground research laboratories. These subterranean facilities were equipped with the finest, most advanced spirit-tool forging equipment and alchemical cauldrons available in the world, dedicated entirely to Zhang Tian's revolutionary projects regarding artificial Spirit Rings and Spirit Bones.

Upon entering the grand foyer, Zhang Tian took command, directing his women to their respective suites with practiced ease. He assigned Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing to the luxurious chambers they favored on the third floor.

He instructed the head maid to prepare a brightly lit, garden-facing room for Jin Xi, ensuring the naive beast would feel comfortable surrounded by nature. He ordered Zhu Zhuyun to a smaller, austere room adjoining his own, a stark reminder of her status as a newly acquired, submissive toy who needed to remain constantly available for his punishment and pleasure.

He ensured Bibi Dong was placed with the utmost care. She was guided to a heavily warded, expansive chamber directly connected to his own master bedroom via a secure, private hallway.

The room was designed to block all external spiritual probing, allowing her to shed her heavy disguises and exist freely without fear of her terrifying, Rank 99 aura leaking out and alerting the capital to her presence.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in deep shades of violet and bruised orange, the household slowly settled into the quiet, relaxed rhythm of the evening. The sounds of unpacking faded, replaced by the soft hum of spirit-gathering formations activating to illuminate the halls.

Zhang Tian retreated to his private study on the second floor, seeking a moment of solitary contemplation. The room was expansive, lined with towering bookshelves made of dark oak. It was illuminated by the soft, warm glow of several high-tier, crystal spirit lamps that cast long, dancing shadows across the expensive rugs. He walked over to his massive mahogany desk, running a hand over the polished surface before sitting down in the high-backed, leather chair. He exhaled a long breath, interlacing his fingers and resting his chin upon them, his mind already shifting from the politics of the tournament to the lingering threats hiding in the shadows of the world.

The silence of the study was broken by the soft, almost imperceptible click of the heavy oak doors opening.

Ah Yin entered the study silently, her movements possessing the ethereal grace of a spirit drifting through a dense forest. She pushed the heavy doors closed behind her, ensuring the locking array clicked into place. Her crimson, blood-colored hair cascaded over her shoulders and down her back like a waterfall of liquid rubies, shimmering beautifully in the lamplight. She wore a simple, elegant blue dress that hugged her mature, maternal curves, her aura completely devoid of any hostility.

She did not walk around the desk to sit in the plush guest chairs reserved for visiting nobles or sect elders. Instead, she walked directly behind his massive mahogany desk. She leaned over the back of his chair, wrapping her soft, slender arms intimately around his broad shoulders. She pressed her heavy, warm breasts firmly against his back, resting her chin near his neck.

"My Lord," Ah Yin murmured, her breath tickling his ear. Her voice was a soothing, musical melody in the quiet, shadowed room. "The network has gathered extensive, critical intelligence during our lengthy absence in Spirit City."

Zhang Tian leaned his head back, resting it comfortably against her soft collarbone. He closed his icy blue eyes, a faint, anticipating smile touching his lips.

"Show me, Yin," he commanded softly.

He did not ask for a verbal report or a written scroll. Instead, he tapped directly into the intrinsic, profound spiritual connection he shared with the Blood Silver Empress. His soul resonated with hers, bridging the gap between human and supreme plant spirit.

Through Ah Yin's supreme, unmatched botanical dominion, the very flora of the continent became his eyes and ears. The millions upon millions of Blood Silver Grass blades scattered relentlessly across the outer, middle, and inner regions of the Star Dou Great Forest—the very grass that other Spirit Masters considered nothing more than useless, fragile weeds—acted as an omniscient, unparalleled spy network. Every blade of grass that had been touched by her crimson corruption was a living sensor, capable of recording passing vibrations, ambient temperatures, and spiritual pressures.

The seemingly harmless weeds transmitted their fragmented visuals, spiritual fluctuations, and the distinct auras of passing entities directly back to their sovereign queen. Ah Yin, acting as the central processing hub, gathered this monumental ocean of chaotic data and fed it cleanly into Zhang Tian's waiting mind.

It was a sensory overload that would have instantly shattered the spiritual sea of a normal Spirit Master, reducing them to a drooling, catatonic mess. But Zhang Tian's brilliant, Boundless mind processed the massive influx of data rapidly and flawlessly. He sifted through the mundane movements of ordinary, low-level beasts, the shifting weather patterns, and the territorial disputes of ten-thousand-year predators, actively filtering the noise to find the specific, high-level anomalies he sought.

Suddenly, a massive spike in spiritual energy caught his attention. He focused his mind, pulling the visual and sensory data from a cluster of deeply entrenched Blood Silver Grass located within the highly restricted core zone of the Star Dou Great Forest.

The visual echoes formed a clear, undeniable picture in his mind's eye. He saw a damp, shadowy clearing near the edge of a massive, tranquil lake. He witnessed the horrifying, awe-inspiring spectacle of two ultimate beasts sacrificing their ancient lives. He saw the blinding flash of volatile, blood-red crimson light as the Titan Giant Ape dissolved into particles, followed closely by the majestic, towering pillar of pure azure light as the Sky Azure Bull Python surrendered its physical form.

Most importantly, he felt the unmistakable, lingering, heavy aura of the Clear Sky Hammer. He saw the dark, metallic weapon hovering in the center of the raging energy vortex, absorbing the blood and soul of the fallen kings to forge two new, terrifying, hundred-thousand-year Spirit Rings. He saw the desperate, tear-streaked face of Tang San sitting cross-legged in the mud, and the stoic, manipulative silhouette of Tang Hao standing guard in the shadows.

'Interesting,' Zhang Tian thought.

His icy blue eyes snapped open, the dim light of the study reflecting the dark, predatory amusement dancing within his pupils. A cold, highly calculating smile spread slowly across his handsome face. The pieces of the puzzle clicked together with a satisfying, fatal finality.

'It seems the cornered rat has finally found a piece of heavily poisoned cheese,' Zhang Tian mused internally, his mind already dissecting the tactical implications of the massive power-up his enemy had just received. 'Tang San has acquired the strength of the forest's apex predators. The broken hammer has been reforged in the fires of sacrifice.'

Ah Yin felt the distinct, chilling shift in his demeanor. Her own crimson eyes narrowed as she leaned closer, accessing the exact same horrifying data stream from her loyal subjects in the deep woods. She watched the memories of the twin sacrifices replay, feeling the massive, agonizing loss of vitality that had scarred the core zone.

"He managed to claim the lives of the two Beast Kings," Ah Yin stated. Her voice was laced with a complex mixture of analytical detachment and mild, lingering disgust at the sheer brutality of the act. "Two entities possessing more than a hundred thousand years of cultivation. A sacrifice willingly, desperately given to a human youth."

"A sacrifice built entirely upon a foundation of mixture of truth and lies," Zhang Tian corrected smoothly. He reached up, his hand gently stroking Ah Yin's arm where it crossed his chest. He recognized the distinct, manipulative fingerprints of Tang Hao lingering heavily over the tragic scene. "Our dear Clear Sky Douluo is a desperate, wounded beast who will gladly feed his own allies to the fire to sharpen his son's fangs."

"Tang Hao manipulated their deep, primal affection for the rabbit girl, Xiao Wu," Zhang Tian deduced effortlessly.

He uncrossed his hands, his fingers drumming a slow, rhythmic, and deadly beat against the polished surface of the mahogany desk. Tap. Tap. Tap. The sound echoed like a countdown in the quiet study.

"He convinced those ancient, simplistic beasts that offering their rings and their priceless Spirit Bones was the solitary, absolute method required to rescue their beloved sister from my grasp," he continued, a dark chuckle escaping his lips. He was genuinely amused by the sheer audacity and ruthless efficiency of the lie. "He painted me as an insurmountable demon that could only be defeated if the boy wielded the combined might of the ape and the serpent. He weaponized their grief and their familial loyalty, turning their love into a blade pressed against their own throats."

"They sacrificed hundreds of thousands of years of painstaking cultivation, giving up their physical bodies and their sovereign domain, simply to polish a tarnished, disgraced hammer," Ah Yin noted. She shook her head slowly, a profound sadness coloring her tone at the tragic, monumental waste of the forest's natural, ancient resources. "To think that beings of such immense power and longevity could be so easily blinded by the deceptive words of a human."

"Indeed. It is the fatal flaw of relying on raw emotion rather than cold logic," Zhang Tian analyzed, piecing together his enemy's current trajectory with flawless precision. "And now, Tang San is undoubtedly marching back toward the capital. He is heavily armed, wielding two red rings and two supreme Spirit Bones, and he is brimming with a false, burning, righteous confidence."

He leaned forward, pulling away from Ah Yin's embrace to rest his elbows heavily on the desk. He interlaced his fingers in front of his face, the dark, predatory light in his icy blue eyes intensifying until they resembled frozen sapphires.

"He believes he has finally levelled the playing field," Zhang Tian mused, his voice dropping to a dangerous, silken whisper. "He believes he has acquired the overwhelming strength necessary to break down my reinforced doors, shatter my defences, and play the triumphant, tragic hero rescuing the damsel from the villain's lair."

"Shall I dispatch our subordinate grasses to intercept them on the open road, My Lord?" Ah Yin offered immediately.

Her tone was entirely professional, stripped of all warmth. Her crimson eyes flashed with a lethal, bloody intent. As the head of his intelligence and covert operations, she was more than ready to execute his will without a single moment of hesitation. "I can deploy a strike team of our highest-ranking assassins. We can ambush them while they are fatigued from their long journey, severing the boy's head before he ever sets foot within the city walls."

"No," Zhang Tian replied calmly, raising a hand to smoothly dismiss the notion of a pre-emptive assassination.

He leaned back in his chair, a cruel, sadistic smile stretching across his face.

"Let them come to me," Zhang Tian ordered, his voice dripping with dark anticipation. "A swift death on a nameless dirt road is far too merciful for the heir of the Clear Sky Sect. A hero's profound despair is infinitely sweeter, and far more entertaining to witness, when he truly believes he holds the absolute winning hand right before the illusion violently shatters in his face. I want him to strike me with the full, unfettered might of those sacrificed beasts, only to realize that he is still nothing more than an ant trying to topple a mountain."

Furthermore, as he contemplated the impending, dramatic confrontation with his heavily armed rival, Zhang Tian's brilliant mind shifted toward another, more immediate piece on the board. He thought of the rabbit girl, Xiao Wu, who was currently secured within the deepest, darkest depths of his sprawling estate. He wondered how her fragile, easily manipulated mind would react to the grim, horrific news of her beloved brothers' senseless demise.

'She has been quite lonely down there in the dark,' Zhang Tian thought, a wicked, deeply sadistic spark igniting in his chest like a match struck in a powder keg. 'I have broken her body, but her hope still clings to the memory of her foolish savior. It is time I paid my little, defiant captive a visit and shared this wonderful, tragic tale of sacrifice and betrayal.'

"I am going down to the dungeon, Yin," Zhang Tian announced abruptly.

He stood up from his high-backed leather chair, smoothing the non-existent wrinkles from his dark, expensive robes. He rolled his shoulders, preparing for a different kind of psychological engagement.

"I am incredibly curious to see the expression on her face when she realizes the horrifying truth," he added, a dark, rumbling chuckle vibrating in his throat. "I want to watch her eyes when she understands that her beloved Xiao San—the very boy she loves—was the actual blade that slaughtered her family and harvested their corpses for power."

Ah Yin smiled softly, a beautiful, terrifying expression that fully supported his ruthless psychological warfare. She stepped around the desk, reaching out to gently adjust the collar of his robes with the care of a devoted wife preparing her husband for work.

"Have fun, My Lord," Ah Yin purred, her crimson eyes gleaming with shared malice. "Break her mind completely so that she may be rebuilt as your perfect, obedient pet. I will remain here and ensure the rest of the household remains entirely undisturbed by whatever screams may echo from the depths."

"See that you do," Zhang Tian replied, leaning down to press a brief, firm kiss against her lips before turning away.

Zhang Tian walked out of the quiet study. He navigated the winding, opulent hallways of his massive mansion, his boots clicking rhythmically against the polished marble floors. He passed priceless tapestries depicting ancient battles and glowing spirit-crystal chandeliers, ignoring the few late-night servants who bowed hastily as he swept past.

He eventually reached a secluded, heavily shadowed corridor situated in the eastern wing of the manor. At the end of the hallway stood a heavily warded, concealed iron door, expertly hidden behind a massive, floor-to-ceiling tapestry depicting a sprawling, dark forest. He pulled the heavy fabric aside, revealing the cold, unyielding metal.

He pressed his right palm flat against the intricate locking mechanism embedded in the center of the door. He channeled a precise, unique frequency of his spirit power, effortlessly overriding the complex, multi-layered security arrays designed to incinerate unauthorized intruders.

CLANK. GROAN.

The heavy iron door swung inward with a deep, metallic groan that echoed ominously down the corridor. A rush of cold, stagnant air spilled out from the darkness within.

Zhang Tian stepped over the threshold and began to descend the tight, spiral stone staircase into the subterranean levels of the estate. The air grew noticeably cooler with every step, shedding the warm, perfumed luxury of the upper floors. The scent of polished wood and expensive incense was replaced by the faint, earthy smell of damp stone, iron chains, and lingering despair.

His eyes adjusted to the dim, flickering light provided by sparse torches mounted on the curved stone walls. He walked with measured, unhurried steps, a predator descending into its lair, ready to shatter the mind of the captive rabbit and sever her final tether to the outside world.
