Chapter 273 - Superman Wants to Form the Justice League Early, the Nonexistent Marvel Universe

Meanwhile, Zhou Cheng, having just finished writing a diary entry, mentally withdrew from the Diary.

After a moment's thought, he made this decision.

During his last visit to the DC universe, Clark hadn't become Superman yet, and Metropolis was just an ordinary city with nothing worth visiting for a memory.

But things had changed now.

Superman's name had already spread throughout the entire DC world.

How could he *not* go check it out?

Once he'd made up his mind, Zhou Cheng wasted no time.

Just like last time, he found a secluded spot, spread his wings, and soared into the sky, quickly disappearing from sight.

And so, Zhou Cheng began another round of "interdimensional tourism," and it was as enjoyable as ever.

***

"Tony!"

The next day, Clark, having just refreshed his daily allowance, eagerly opened his Diary and contacted his "transdimensional buddy."

"Hey, Clark!"

The Playboy responded almost immediately.

In truth, the Playboy had a mountain of questions he wanted to ask Clark. If Clark had been even a moment slower, he would have been too impatient to wait and contacted Clark first.

"So, did you find them?"

"The works related to Iron Man, Captain America, and the others?"

Tony immediately and eagerly asked the question that had been weighing on his mind.

"Yes, I found them."

"The Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hydra, and S.H.I.E.L.D. you mentioned."

"I found them all."

"These comics do exist in our world."

Clark's answer was definitive.

*They really exist!*

*So, they really exist?*

Tony felt a sudden heaviness in his chest, as if breathing had become difficult.

Though he had long suspected this, now that the answer was real, he still couldn't fully accept it.

So, the question remained.

Within their separate dimensions, each had works related to the other's dimension. What was the truth behind this?

The Box Theory?

Or the Creator Theory?

Even with Tony's extraordinary intellect, he couldn't arrive at a definitive conclusion in the short term.

It's worth noting that after Tony's meeting concluded, Nick Fury acted swiftly.

He immediately initiated a series of countermeasures and deployed agents to conduct a surprise investigation of the DC Editorial Department.

However, no one held much hope for the investigation's outcome.

If a transdimensional bigwig truly stood behind the DC Editorial Department, why would they allow those individuals to operate so openly?

Why would they leave any loose ends?

Why would they fear an intelligence agency's investigation?

"Clark," Tony said, quickly dismissing his thoughts, "since you know who we are, I'll invite you to the public channel."

Clark immediately received an invitation to the Playboy group chat.

Without hesitation, he accepted and joined the group.

After a brief greeting to Clark, the group members didn't waste any time on pleasantries.

After all, transdimensional chats have limitations, and no one wanted to squander the opportunity.

Meanwhile, Tony created a separate group chat, one exclusively for the Avengers, excluding Clark. This was to facilitate their communication, and he immediately shared the feedback he'd received from Clark with the group.

The Avengers' reactions varied. Some shared Tony's somber mood, while others remained indifferent, and a few seemed completely unconcerned.

"Everyone," Tony began. "I need your help with something. Can you tell me about Darkseid? Did he eventually invade Earth? How did we defeat him?"

Clark finally asked the question he'd been holding back for so long.

"That's the same problem, Clark," Tony replied. "We need to confirm which universe you're from. The DC and Marvel multiverses are vast, and the stories vary significantly across each one."

Clark couldn't answer this question.

He had no idea what other universes were like, so how could he possibly know what made his own different?

If he could chat freely, it would be simple. He could describe his universe to Tony and the others one by one, and they could compare notes to confirm things.

But now, he was limited to just 200 words a day!

What could he possibly say in that amount of text?

This was something Clark, who had already devoured every Marvel work using his super speed, super vision, and super brain, understood all too well.

The Marvel comics were a tangled mess of parallel universes and convoluted lore.

There was no way to explain it all in a few sentences.

Trying to figure it out with a meager 200-word daily limit would likely take forever.

"Your dimension initially had countless parallel universes, but after the Crisis on Infinite Earths, they were merged into one."

"Yet after the Infinite Crisis, the Multiverse reemerged, consolidating the known multiverses into 52."

"So, yes, the nature of your universe's Multiverse has changed over time."

"Beyond spatial dimensions, we must also confirm the temporal dimension."

Black Widow added, chiming in from the side.

Clark: "..."

*This is such a headache.*

Superman felt a deep, throbbing headache.

*There's no way we'll ever figure this out.*

"Let's put that aside for now. Tell me about Darkseid's invasions of Earth—any universe will do."

After a moment's hesitation, Clark reluctantly settled for this compromise.

"Let me tell you!" Thor chimed in eagerly.

This kind of cross-dimensional chat was quite interesting; he'd never experienced anything like it before.

"I actually read about this. I don't remember which universe, but it said Darkseid invaded Earth to steal Superman's power."

"He wanted to create a powerful Kryptonian army."

"As for how he was defeated... sorry, I haven't gotten that far yet."

Clark: "..."

*Why does Thor feel like such a goofball?*

And so, Clark and the Avengers began exchanging information.

Unfortunately, due to the word limit, Clark couldn't even confirm which universe he was from.

The information they could share was limited to general references.

What about the Marvel side?

"Universe 199999?"

"Are you sure it's Universe 199999?"

Clark also expressed a degree of surprise upon hearing Tony and the others state their universe number.

The reason was simple:

In the comic books he had bought, Universe 199999 simply didn't exist!

As Superman, Clark possessed a super-brain.

Though the Marvel continuity was a chaotic mess, with an overwhelming amount of information, he remembered it all clearly.

"It doesn't exist?"

Tony was equally surprised.

For years, the major events in Tony's universe had closely aligned with the trajectory of Universe 199999.

Without the Avengers' intervention, their original course would have been identical to that of Universe 199999.

Everyone had naturally assumed their universe was Universe 199999.

Yet now, Clark was telling them it didn't exist?

"Clark, are you certain you've read the entire series? Is there anything you might have missed?" Nick Fury asked after a moment's thought, his tone probing.

Clark couldn't answer immediately. The possibility of having missed something was real.

He immediately promised the Marvel fans online that he would check after logging off to see if he had indeed read all the Marvel-related works.

Neither Nick Fury and the Marvel team nor Clark, from the DC dimension, could have known that Universe 199999 was a Movie Universe.

This meant Clark was destined to remain unfound.

And the story of Clark in this Movie Universe was equally impossible for the Marvel team to find in their comics.

Then,

They exchanged a few more questions about topics they were particularly interested in.

The conversation was superficial, barely scratching the surface before their time ran out.

Though frustrated, they had no choice but to log off.

Clark immediately fell into deep contemplation.

Even if the information about Darkseid he'd received might have come from another parallel universe, it still held significant value.

Whether from Jor-El or the Marvel forum users, all signs pointed to Darkseid being an enemy he couldn't currently defeat.

So, what should he do?

How could he possibly confront such an seemingly invincible foe?

After piecing together fragmented intelligence from Marvel users and diary spoilers,

Clark could only think of one solution.

The Justice League!

Regardless of why Darkseid had come to Earth—whether he was after Clark's power or some other reason—

and regardless of how others in different universes had defeated him,

for Clark, what other choice did he have besides rallying the forces he could?

It seemed he would have to assemble the Justice League before Batman.

Of course.

Before doing that, Clark needed to gather some essential intelligence.

What intelligence?

Undoubtedly, the Mother Box. That was the key to everything.

So, for the time being, Clark's priorities were clear and obvious:

First and foremost, investigate the Mother Box.

Second, fulfill his promise to his Marvel contacts:

Confirm whether Universe 199999 actually existed within the Marvel series.

Third, keep an eye on Lex Luthor, to see if he had already grown hostile toward Clark and was secretly plotting against him.

Of course.

Throughout this, he would continue communicating with his Marvel contacts, exchanging information as usual.

However, the 200-word limit made this process very inefficient.

***

While Clark was busy with his own work, Tony was far from idle.

Compared to Clark's situation, Marvel was in a much better position, having resolved some of its major crises.

Currently, Tony's primary concerns were:

1. Monitoring Strange's investigation into Kamar-Taj.

2. Keeping an eye on Hank Pym to prevent him from creating a Quantum Virus.

3. Most importantly, figuring out what exactly was going on with his universe.

Unlike Thor's nonchalant attitude, Tony was genuinely concerned about whether he was merely a "paper person."

If he wasn't, then everything was fine, and there was nothing to worry about.

But if he *was* a paper person, Tony would never stand idly by. He would undoubtedly break free from the limitations of his box, just like in the movie *The Thirteenth Floor*.

However, this investigation had stalled completely.

"Tony, I've thoroughly investigated those editors, top to bottom."

"But they're clean."

"I think you expected this result, didn't you?"

Inside the Triquetra Building, Baldy leaned back in his chair, communicating with Tony through the Diary.

That's right, Baldy had already completed his investigation of the DC editors.

For an organization of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s scale, such a "minor matter" naturally wouldn't take long.

But that very fact made it all the more unsatisfactory.

Even if no evidence was found, they couldn't rule out the possibility of transdimensional bigwigs lurking behind the DC Editorial Department.

"Understood," Tony replied with a few curt words.

But Baldy, who knew the Playboy well, understood that Tony wouldn't let it go so easily.

Unlike others, Tony seemed deeply invested in this matter.

But even so, what could be done?

Such things were simply impossible to resolve definitively.

Well, at least for those directly involved, like Nick Fury.

In reality, if one stepped back from their perspective, investigating this matter would be quite simple and straightforward.

There was no need to waste time at the DC Editorial Department. All they had to do was find Zhou Cheng, the owner of the Diary, and ask him face-to-face.

Indeed.

Zhou Cheng's Diary was supreme among all the Diaries, and no one could add to it or disturb it in any way.

But Zhou Cheng himself wasn't like that!

So the question arises:

Why hadn't a single Avenger thought of this method until now?

Even if the Diary holders had initially decided not to disturb Zhou Cheng to avoid spoiling the plot...

How could they endure such a critical issue, one that concerned the very origin of their universe?

Especially someone like Tony, who cared so deeply, would have found it impossible to remain still.

Yet the truth was, until now, no one had considered this obvious solution.

Why was that?
