Before we left Oreburgh city we double checked the news, luckily we did otherwise we would have wasted a day's travel. On the path we were planning to take to get to Eterna city there was a rockslide causing the road to be blocked off, due to that we decided to head back to Jubilife then go towards Eterna city.
As we walked further and further away from the city into the forest I could feel both Noah and Kyra relax. While they didn't show it, I could tell that neither of them were city people, both having grown up in a quiet town, with barely any foot traffic. As for me, I really didn't care where I lived, though I did appreciate the cleaner air of the forest.
While we were walking Noah decided to let Shinx out to give him some air, as Noah released Shinx he appeared right next to me causing me to twitched then move away. Both Shinx and Noah noticed it and both raised an eyebrow, I could only look away pretending not to notice. I had no idea why I even reacted, I had a better chance of getting shocked by my dad's Shinx than Noah's.
While his Shinx would happily bully Turtwig he wasn't nearly as interested in messing with others so there was no real worry about him attacking me. Still my eyes kept landing on his tail, Noah's Shinx was a junkie that loved the feel of electricity in his body causing him to constantly use charge even when not in battle.
By now even Kyra had noticed how I had slowed my walking pace to match hers, and having no idea on how to break the awkward atmosphere. Not having a topic to talk about to break the ice Kyra started whistling. Hearing the familiar tune we all eased up and slowly came back to normal. What could we do? All of us had the same experiences, all of us grew up together, there wasn't much that we didn't know about each other.
I still have no idea how my mother can talk to her friends about the same things every time they see each other, sure there may be a different subject occasionally but that was rare. Anytime my mother had her friends over I would just go over to my dad's shop and harass Shinx or watch a movie in the backroom.
Since none of us were in a rush we decided to make camp early. Due Kyra having the only pokemon that could fly she released her pokemon. With the ghosts help we found a clearing big enough for us to spend the night. Even during dinner while we all played with our pokemon, other than making plans for what we wanted to do and some light training there wasn't much else.
While I was in my tent I decided that it was time, getting up I first went over to Noah's tent, "hey Noah, are you awake?" I said while making sure to keep my voice low enough that Kyra couldn't hear.
"Yeah", he said then after some rustling around eventually Noah came out of his tent, "what's up Hikari?"
With Noah out of his tent I motioned for him to follow me. Leading him past the tree line despite not facing him, I could feel his brows furrowing. Once we were a good distance away from camp I stopped and turned to face him. Was I afraid of showing him my water body? Nope, was there another reason of course.
"So uh, Noah"
"Yes Hikari?"
I sighed, "I honestly have no idea how to say it so I'm just going to show you." Then I turned my arm into water and let it fall to the ground.
Instantly Noah's originally calm expression froze, his brain seemed to come to a screeching halt as, his eyes constantly went back between where my arm used to be, to the ground. While he was still confused I drank some water and regenerated my arm.
"Surprise" I said while waving my new arm at him. As he still was struggling to process what he was seeing, I started explaining what I knew about my condition. I also explained why I moved away from his Shinx earlier.
It took a while but Noah eventually recovered enough to start poking me, half the time I remained solid while the other half I purposely let his finger or hand pass through me.
Internally for Noah, the main part he was still confused about was why I had revealed it too him in private, even he doubted that Kyra would have a much different reaction than him. Unlike Barry, Noah could use head, "Hikari, since you showed me this and made sure that Kyra didn't I'm guessing you want to mess with her?"
At that I smiled, "You really do know me Noah, you're correct, I do want to mess with Kyra, Noah can you release your Wooper and hand me Shinx's ball?"
Noah, not seeing any reason for concern handed Shinx's ball over. In return I gave him an empty pokeball to replace Shinx's ball on his belt. Once it was secure he released Wooper, with out Wooper I told them my plan. Walking out of the forest, Kyra who was by the campfire raised an eyebrow, "where did you two go?"
"I wanted to show Noah something, and now I want to show it to you too." I said to her, then unlike what I did with Noah, I pulled my head off my neck. Not expecting that Kyra fell backwards and backed away from me, Noah while he knew about my body still involuntarily twitched, "I don't think I'll ever get used to this." He muttered under his breath.
After a moment Kyra seeing that Noah didn't have a reaction nearly as bad as her, shot to her feet and stomped over towards me, then furiously gripped my collar. "Hikari?! What the heck?!!
Noah sensing the perfect time to mess with me chimed in as Kyra was constantly shaking me, "wow Hikari, for me you only used your arm, not your head."
Kyra's gaze, already looked as if she wanted to beat me but upon hearing Noah her gaze promised pain. "Misdreavus, Shinx!" She practically shrieked as she chucked Misdreavus's ball at Noah. With Misdreavus being Kyra's partner for years, Misdreavus knew exactly what Kyra meant, the ghost went straight for Shinx's ball on Noah's belt, then tossed it at me.
The ball open, but no blue light came out the empty pokeball bumped against my skin then calmly rolled on the ground. Seeing exactly what I expected to happen, with my head still in my hands I called out to Wooper and Piplup, "NOW!"
The two pokemon, hearing the signal both blasted Kyra with water gun completely soaking her to the bone.
Me, Noah and Misdreavus burst out laughing at her, as she struggled to get up completely drenched, luckily for me, due to Misdreavus laughing at Kyra made her the primary target of Kyra's wrath.
With Misdreavus was distracted Kyra went into her tent, then before Misdreavus could react Kyra crammed a super spicy spelon berry into Misdreavus's mouth, then left the screaming ghost to her misery. As Misdreavus literally started breathing fire just from how spicy the berry was.
Midway through another one of Misdreavus's screams Gastly's ball opened, the moment he appeared he started laughing at his friend. Unfortunately for the surrounding forest, due to Misdreavus's flames some grass patches caught fire. Fortunately due to the previous prank on Kyra our water type pokemon were already out and were smart enough to understand fire on anything is bad.
With how fast Misdreavus was zooming around, we all split up to put out some of the mini fires. While I along with Wooper adn Piplup handled the fires, Noah went to his tent, while Kyra seeing that we had the situation covered, went back to her tent to change out of her clothes.
After battling the mini fires for two minutes, Noah emerged from his tent and started waving around an ice cream. That caught Misdreavus's attention as she locked on to the treat. Misdreavus was so desperate to get rid of the spicy taste in her mouth she accidently swallowed Noah's hand.
I don't even think she noticed, with the sweet cooling ice cream Misdreavus seemed to melt at having relieved the spicy taste. I would have walked up to Noah but due to me using the water in my body to put out the fires half of me was gone. "Piplup, can you use water gun on me."
"Pip", Piplup eagerly blasted me, with the water and I was able to reform, Noah who was still nearby watched as I came back. When I was close to him he shook his head, "I still think that this is creepy but as long you are fine I can only hope for the best."
"Thanks Noah." I said giving him a thumbs up
In return he raised the hand that had Misdreavus on it, he sighed "you can't see it but I'm giving you a thumbs up", then he raised an eyebrow, "out of curiosity, how do you plan to cross the mountains?"
"huh? What do you mean?"
"I mean, we're in Sinnoh, since you're doing the gym challenge at some point you are going to have to cross the mountains, and even then isn't there an official ice type gym leader? I doubt that they won't use major coverage moves."
I could only pause, then everything he said registered in my head, "crap, you're right there is a real danger of me freezing solid in the middle of nowhere!"
Noah seeing my distress shook his head at me, "Maybe you try your luck with the minor gyms to get the badge but still the Lilly Valley conference is on the other side of the mountain." he said while using his non Misdreavus hand to point a thumb at the very visible mountains covered in ice.
Hearing Noah, I could only sink lower to the ground, "Well then what should I do Noah? You're smart, any ideas."
"For you you'll either have to wear your entire closet or look into getting a fire type, but again we're in Sinnoh, isn't there like three or four fire types here?" Noah said while rubbing the back of his neck.
At that my expression changed, I jumped up from my original position and hugged Noah. while exaggeratedly crying streams of tears from my eyes. "Oh, thank you Noah, thank you!"
He didn't even try to push me away, just calmly accepted it. After that was done I backed away from Noah, as I did we both heard the sound of Kyra approaching. Once Kyra had changed into non soaking clothes she marched up to me, "so you are made of water?"
"yes", I said
"And you knew that I would shock you?"
"Yup"
After my confirmation Kyra gained a dangerous glint in her eyes, "Hikari Sato, while I originally wanted a Rotom just because, but now I promise you this, I will hunt down a Rotom just for you." she said while her pointer finger was inches away from my nose.
With that she turned towards Noah and pulled Misdreavus of his hand then pulled out a small towel from her pocket and handed to Noah around and went back to her tent. With Misdreavus in Kyra's arms, she didn't even blink when the ghost spat the popsicle stick from the ice cream at her. Once Kyra was gone I turned back to Noah, "thanks for helping me"
"Any time, now if you wouldn't mind handing over Shinx." He said while drying off his drool covered hand. Once it was dry I gave him Shinx's ball and with nothing left to do he waved me goodnight as his Wooper waddled behind him.
As he left I still had a smile that slowly fell into contemplation, since I was the last one out I was in charge of putting out the camp fire. Moving over I grabbed a seat nearby and started poking at it, Noah was right I should look into getting a fire type.
I did have some ideas of how to get a fire type most of them I didn't want to do, go to other regions? While I did have Petilil I would rather save those pokemon for when I go there. Order pokemon off of amazon? There was a stigma about pokemon trainers that ordered a team member instead of catching them. It was more out of my own pride and stubbornness.
Feeling the warmth of the fire, I sighed as I adjusted my position to lay on the ground, "maybe I could check out a breeder, though the main concern is that the pokemon are to young and shouldn't be in a battle."
"Try my luck to find an Eevee for a Flareon? Ha that's basically impossible", Eevee were adorable pokemon that could evolve into almost any type, this made at least half the trainers in the pokemon world want one, making them next to impossible to find.
I could only only pity Kyra, we had all decided that once get to eterna forest we would all split up, Noah wanted to expand his team, Kyra also wanted to expand her team, but she also had to try to find an Eevee for Tina who would be going on her journey next season. With Tina's tenth birthday approaching, she was bouncing off the walls, and like Dawn she wanted to compete in pokemon contests while gathering according to her, the cutest pokemon.
As for me, I wanted to improve my own resistance to electricity, I wanted an electric type to steadily shock me. I wanted an electric type, now with the mountains I had to add a fire type to the check list.
Just as I was still contemplating what to do, a small portal appeared next to me and a phone dropped out. Startled but still reacting, I caught the phone and started looking it over. It was a bulky white phone with a yellow circle on the back. "This won't fit in my pocket, the design is bulky, and it looks like Arceus?" I said before my mind could connect with my mouth.
In an instant, the phone that was previously in hand disappeared, I sprang up, "wait no! The phone was fine, I don't mind!" I started panicking, I had just insulted the god of all pokemon.
Before I could start cursing myself from two minutes ago for being dumb, another portal appeared but unlike last time the phone was chucked at me, smacking me in the forehead. Rubbing my head with one hand, while the other reached for the phone I looked it over.
The case was different, this time it had the shape of a regular phone and would actually fit in my pocket. The previous design that had all the features sticking out of the case was now white, using the touch screen, the gold circle that normally was on Arceus was the startup screen.
Opening the home screen, there was only two programs, the texting app, and a traveling app. As I stared at the screen I got a notification showing I had a text, upon opening the app, the contact name was Space Lama.
